CDC recommends no gathering of 50 people for the next eight weeks, but the recommendation does not apply to schools and businesses. So only if there are 50 people gathered for non-business or non-educational purposes, they shouldn’t get together. How stupid. Either the recommendation should apply to all gatherings and 50 people, assuming that there’s some basis in fact rather than pulling that number out of someone’s ass, for the next eight weeks, assuming some basis in fact rather than pulling that number out of someone’s ass, or it shouldn’t. My gut says it should apply across the board. Otherwise it will be marginally effective at best. But I’m not an immunologist, so what my gut says doesn’t mean shit.
PA governor taking this pretty damn serious. Schools closed until end of month. In 4 Philly collar counties, “non-essential” businesses are closed until further notice, including bars. Restaurants can do take-out/delivery. Grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, and healthcare services deemed essential. People are organizing to help older neighbors, hourly workers, buying gift certificates for local retailers to use when they re-open, etc. Yesterday, feed store had “flatten the curve” posters throughout the store. Interesting times we are living in.

So far in New York City: A lot of businesses, most of the colleges, all of the museums (including the one I work at), broadway — But the public schools have been left open. I know a lot of New Jersey has issued a curfew for bars (9/10 pm) — It hasn’t happened here.
Joe needs to be friendlier, not try to out anger Bernie, who owns that space.

Just talked with my surgeon. NYC hospitals have suspended elective surgeries and are limiting clinic visits. There were 3 known CV19 cases in isolation rooms the day after my surgery – which is when I left the hospital. He said that as a thinking person he thinks our government and the airlines aren’t, well, weren’t thinking- allowing flights from Italy and South Korea into New York – just stupid. New York now has 685 cases according to him. This is what we call a cluster fuck.
This guy is smarter than you, me and at least a couple more people combined. He said the federal government could see the problem coming at least a month ago and just did nothing to prevent travelers from returning from Italy and Korea, two of the biggest hotspots. Trump diddled and contradicted his own fucking experts. It’s trump’s albatross in sharp focus. If you’d likery or grape let me know.

Sanders does not know what real leadership is, because he has never led anything successfully in his life. I do agree with Biden in that if you can make changes to something that is going to pass to make it better – you do it. Just voting “No” all the time does not get anything accomplished.
As for Biden… He is just an old politician. The bailout to the banks was done on the hope they would lend – and they did not. It was the Democrats and Republicans who allowed the mortgage crisis to happen, and then left consumers out to dry. The Obama spending and regulation increases slowed the recovery.
I did find it amusing though that in the pitch to people who vote for Sanders he calls supporters of Bernie Sanders “followers” like they are a cult.
Biden’s commitment is to select a woman as a running mate. Elizabeth Warren will be that choice.
Yeah… didn’t think I’d feel this way…. BUT… it was better when there was 10 candidates on that stage.

Turns out my son’s the medical director for parts of pulmonary units in 2 NYC hospitals. His concern is daycare for medical personnel. I suggested that their foundation do the leg work to set up an in house daycare for their medical people. There would be details to work out. Probably someone will say no, anyhow.
I have a high school friend who thinks the virus is some sort of conspiracy. Nutty stuff. Something about it no one’s telling us. So, what difference does that make now? It’s here, and we have to deal with it.

The answer to that is partially answered by the fact that the emergency funding stopped short by providing that employers of 54% of US workers are not required to provide paid Family and Medical Leave Act leave. Mnuchin at work to protect large employers- Chief among them – Walmart and Amazon. The answer is in large part a lack of the administration to take steps necessary to address this crisis.
Biden won the night, hands down. I am looking to a Wednesday suspension of Bernie’s campaign unless his staff are as delusional about this debate and the delegate math as he is about the support nationally for his revolution.

Turns out my son’s the medical director for parts of pulmonary units in 2 NYC hospitals. His concern is daycare for medical personnel. I suggested that their foundation do the leg work to set up an in house daycare for their medical people. There would be details to work out. Probably someone will say no, anyhow.
