Republicans are the party of corporate greed and broken infrastructure.

Roll back the tRUMPsky tax cuts, and, make the top earners actually pay tax to help rebuild the physical infrastructure in which they rely for their businesses to operate.

I agree with Gilda Cobb-Hunter – and I blame DINOs like Manchin and Sinema in the Senate and the far right and far left Reps in the House who are not engaging in compromise on the big pieces of legislation to get bills that will pass as reconciliation measures and further blame Manchin, Sinema and those chickenshit unnamed Senators who insist that retaining the filibuster is more important than protecting the right to vote and the democratic process that would allow the majority party to govern. News flash … the next time repugs a have 50 votes in the Senate and a repug president the filibuster will be gone.

Exactly. No more of the “when they go low, we go high” stuff. “When” is always with Republicans. Just get in the mud and end them.

https://www.texastribune.org/2021/09/24/beto-orourke-2022/

“McConaughey, an Oscar-winning actor and Texas native, has said he is considering running for governor, though he has not said whether he’d run as a Republican or Democrat or done much else to elaborate on how he would position himself politically. Despite that, a poll released over the weekend found McConaughey leading Abbott by 9 percentage points. “

If I had ta guess, it would be that Matty is a Republican.

“The fight in front of us right now is the one that we’re talking about today in Texas right now, given what’s going on,” O’Rourke said. “Given the deep damage and chaos and incompetence that is connected to Greg Abbott — from the winter freeze, the abortion ban, the permitless carry, the anti-mask mandate, the terrible toll that COVID has taken on this state and where it has decimated populations along the border, like in my hometown of El Paso — this is what we need to be focused on right now.”

BETO has been working voter registration drives across the state, so folks know who he is and that he’s a true, blue Democrat.

Some rare good news re Covid from WaPo.

In the past week in the U.S. …

New daily reported cases fell 19.9%

New daily reported deaths fell 0.8%

Covid-related hospitalizations fell 8.8%

Among reported tests, the positivity rate was 7.3%.

The number of tests reported fell 40.6%from the previous week

The numbers are too high but the direction is right.

So much discussion about the overall cost of Biden’s agenda and not what’s actually in it or that it is paid for. The simple compromise seems to be just sunset some of the programs so that you get the cost down without eliminating them. And if they’re popular enough to deserve extension later on they will be.

Better than what?
Been cleaning out an old desk finally got to the bottom of the pile found a telephone bill from Ma Bell, 1996. It was 53 dollars, half was for long distance and I only made 3 calls.
Also, a floppy disk for my new computer with windows 95
And what I really miss an Independence  telephone book from the eighties, complete with yellow, white and blue pages.

Happy bday patriot/philosopher Samuel Adams, b.1722. “It is in the interest of tyrants to reduce the people to ignorance and vice. For they cannot live in any country where virtue and knowledge prevail.”

Roger that, pat.  No question it is only a smidgen of good news, but right now I’ll take any good news.

SNL’s makeup artists are going to be challenged to make Johnson look at all like T_ _ _p, but man does he have the voice down or what?

Here’s the original Hot Rod Lincoln before Commander Cody or George Thoroughgood got hold of it.  BTW, always like CC’s version best. And there’s this one – Down to Stems and Seeds Again – a very favorite of mine back in the day.

https://www.texastribune.org/2021/09/24/texas-congressional-redistricting/

“The proposed congressional map also increases the number of districts where Trump had a majority of voters over Biden in 2020 and protects Republican incumbents who might have been vulnerable by packing their districts with more Trump voters.“

Republicans will have to cheat to win. If you have to cheat, you shouldn’t hold office.

Craig, I hope someone else understands the truth about the funding of the infrastructure bill.   Democrats should be hitting all media outlets, MSM and social, to make that known and shut down yet another Republican lie. They should also add that Republicans don’t want to create the jobs the bill would fund, not do they want safer roads and bridges and internet to strengthen businesses and schools.
