The Republican-dominated Maricopa County Board of Supervisors on Monday denounced an ongoing audit of the 2020 election vote as a “sham” and a “con,” calling on the GOP-led state Senate to end the controversial recount that has been championed by former president Donald Trump.
In a fiery public meeting and subsequent letter to state Senate President Karen Fann, the board members said the audit has been inept, promoted falsehoods and defamed the public servants who ran the fall election.
Calling the process a “spectacle that is harming all of us,” the five members of the board — including four Republicans — asked the state Senate to recognize that it is essential to call off the audit, which officials have said is only about one-quarter complete.
“It is time to make a choice to defend the Constitution and the Republic,” they wrote. “We stand united together to defend the Constitution and the Republic in our opposition to the Big Lie. We ask everyone to join us in standing for the truth,” they added, using a term that refers to the false claim that the election was stolen.

Just received my new glasses, I think the old were about three or four years of age. I already hung the yellow sticky up to get new glasses every year, just because. All of my cases are in matters deemed confidential, so I don’t talk about clients in public, and I don’t do criminal work, so I don’t need to try and poison the well to excuse stupid shit my clients do to try and keep them out of prison. I do have stupid clients, mean clients and occasionally clients who are both stupid and mean, but I’m not sure that my duty of zealous advocacy extends to trying to convince the Court or fellow counsel that they should be treated specially because they aren’t smart enough to be treated like a normal person. Now any of my fellow attorneys? Yes. A very good friend does a lot of criminal work and I’ve heard him talk in similar terms about his clients, and he tells me he’s said pretty derogatory things to the judges about his clients. I don’t do abuse and neglect work except in extraordinary circumstances, but there’s plenty of candid talk about impaired clients and their inability to have planned certain acts or understand that what they’ve done to their kids and spouses is wrong, but it’s not in public settings and I’ve never heard anyone try to hang Donald Trump and their belief in his bullshit around their clients’ necks to explain away their stupidity.

most lawyers who say such things about their clients or anyone else are risking their license to practice and/or eventually being hit with a defamation lawsuit (especially if they lose the case). however, lawyer watkins may have his client’s consent in his attempt to wage a brainwash defense. innocent by reason of stupidity bordering on insanity or “the devil made me so it” plea.
