I’ve never been so thoroughly disappointed in humans as I have been over the last, few years.   It looks like US Grant understood human nature pretty well.

For some reason woke up thinking of Mark Russell.  Went hunting to see if he was still amongst us and as it turns out he is at 88.  This throwback from his 80th birthday indicates still as sharp and funny as ever while warning what we would get with Trump.

So the NC GOP is going to have a meeting (read rally here) with Dumbass as the headliner.  It’s closed to the press, so keep a sharp eye open for the bootlegged cell phone recording that is guaranteed to follow it.

A bit suspicious of Grant quote. Didn’t think he was that smart.

Mr Cracker was hospitalized for five days and Kaiser let me stay with him.  They really wake up patients to see if they are ok.  We came home Sat and all we’ve done since is sleep
I think Mr C was collateral damage in the pandemic.  He was hospitalized for an infection that under normal circumstances would have been found much sooner
Kaiser gets a failing grade for their COVID-19 work

I think BB is the wrong person to find an answer to the Israeli Palestine ongoing conflict
I think 2 states are the answer and the other Arab states bordering have to step and hand over some land.  There is historical precedent for this
Certainly second class citizenship is not the answer

Just received my new glasses, I think the old were about three or four years of age.  I already hung the yellow sticky up to get new glasses every year, just because.  It is taking me a good hour for my eyes to adjust to the change.  Note to people, get your yearly eye exams.  I am stunned by how great things look.

So far no cicadas invading the little peninsula.  Many of my coworkers are reporting they are ready to hole up in the house because of all the tasty little critters showing up at their places.  I need to send them copies of the cicada cookbooks I find online.

Pogo, Patd
Have you or any of your fellows ever talked about a client like this, in public. I’m sure you have in private.

Well, THAT’S refreshing.

Jack, the short answer for me is no.  All of my cases are in matters deemed confidential, so I don’t talk about clients in public, and I don’t do criminal work, so I don’t need to try and poison the well to excuse stupid shit my clients do to try and keep them out of prison.  I do have stupid clients, mean clients and occasionally clients who are both stupid and mean, but I’m not sure that my duty of zealous advocacy extends to trying to convince the Court or fellow counsel that they should be treated specially because they aren’t smart enough to be treated like a normal person. Now any of my fellow attorneys?  Yes.  A very good friend does a lot of criminal work and I’ve heard him talk in similar terms about his clients, and he tells me he’s said pretty derogatory things to the judges about his clients.  I don’t do abuse and neglect work except in extraordinary circumstances, but there’s plenty of candid talk about impaired clients and their inability to have planned certain acts or understand that what they’ve done to their kids and spouses is wrong, but it’s not in public settings and I’ve never heard anyone try to hang Donald Trump and their belief in his bullshit around their clients’ necks to explain away their stupidity.
