If You Play It Backwards, It Says ‘Paul Is Dead!’

From the Guardian’s Arwa Mahdawi :
The grand prize for the most unhinged conspiracy theory goes to (who else?) QAnon followers. One of the many bizarre things these people believe (without any foundation) is that Covid-19 is a hoax designed to deflect attention from a Satan-worshipping pedophile ring operated by Hillary Clinton and liberal elites. Trump, their reasoning goes, is pretending to have Covid-19 as part of a grand plan to arrest Clinton. According to these geniuses Trump communicated his intentions via a tweet on Friday morning where he announced he and Melania had tested positive and declared: “We will get through this TOGETHER!” When you pull apart TOGETHER it spells out TO GET HER. Boom!

  1. shades of balcony scenes past.   SNL dec 2018

Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) gets an update about the Robert Mueller probe from Rudy Giuliani (Kate McKinnon) and Michael Cohen (Ben Stiller), and he confronts Vladimir Putin (Beck Bennett) about his handshake with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia (Fred Armisen) at the G20 Summit in Argentina.

  2. wapo:

Shortly after being discharged from the hospital treating him for the novel coronavirus, President Trump on Monday climbed onto a White House balcony — and then peeled off his mask to salute Marine One as it flew away. After waving, Trump turned to go inside, still maskless.
Following a weekend of mounting horror among medical professionals and commentators fretting over Trump’s handling of his own infection, his actions Monday — particularly removing his mask and walking into a room frequented by White House staff — left them worried and frustrated yet again.
“What White House staffer would still wanna go to work tomorrow???” Eric Feigl-Ding, an epidemiologist and health economist with the Federation of American Scientists, said in a tweet Monday night. “Epidemiologists just wanna vomit.”

  3. remake of old chi trib headline “dewey defeats truman”?

    the hill:

The White House Gift Shop started selling a “Trump Defeats COVID” commemorative coin on Monday before the president returned to the White House from the hospital.
Anthony Giannini, the chairman of the White House Gift Shop (WHGS), designedthe $100 coinas the final coin in a series for Trump’s first term.
    […]
A picture of the coin, which is scheduled to ship on Nov. 14, was not available on the White House Gift Shop. Twenty percent of the proceeds are designated to go to COVID-19 prevention and cancer treatment.
The White House Gift Shop is not affiliated with the White House.
The coin went on sale before President Trump was released from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

  4. Is Gary Busey the prez of the q-razies?  But we shouldn’t  assume anything,  of course, because that would make an ass of u and me.  Really, is there a head to that snake? Does it live on a troll farm in Rusher?

I wonder if SFB had to sign a waiver to sign himself out of the hospital?
You know what I like? I like folks who wear masks and don’t get sick. tRUMPsky is such a low-intelligence loser.
I want him to prove he’s  not still really sick.  Go golfing this weekend!

  5. So last night I made an error and need to correct it. D’umbass did not take the elevator to the blue room.  He walked up the exterior steps of the WH. He was clearly winded and had to recover before making his “Don’t be Afraid of Covid” video. Don’t let it dominate your life. (Don’t listen to the doctors and scientists). Peter Peachfuzz at the helm…again.

  6. New CNN poll taken post debate. Biden 57, SFB 41 among likely voters. Biden’s gap among 65+ voters expands.

  7. Because the older voters who didn’t think masks were important have died…and some of their surviving friends got the message.

  8. Democrats are cheating.  Not fair.  They all wearin’ maskses and doin’ socialism dancin’ and shit.

  9. I wonder if his rumoured addiction to Adderall may have caused issues with the meds administered to reduce the symptoms of COVID-19?  Did Adderall an opiate or both have caused the exaggerated idiocy of all caps tweets?

Why did not one or two of the doctors start a course of knock-out meds?  Just something to keep the critter calm and asleep for about four weeks.

  10. Adderall is what’s bouncing around all the time, but how hard would it be to get actual speed.  Not to mention coke.

  11. @TimOBrien
A humbling Herman Cain/coronavirus timeline: 6/24: Attends Trump rally, maskless 7/2: Tests positive for Covid-19 7/10: Says he’s improving 7/15: Says his doctors seem happy 7/27: Says he’s really getting better 7/30: Dies

  12. and in other news today, as reported by wonkette:

BREAKING: Wayne LaPierre May Have Made One Or Twelve Little Ooopsies On His Taxes

Karma’s a bitch, and so is Wayne LaPierre.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the NRA frontman is under investigation by the IRS for criminal tax fraud after failing to report all those bazillions of dollars of benefits on his tax returns. You love to see it!
In August, when New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a civil suit against the NRA for misappropriating $64 million in charitable dollars, she noted that the organization’s failure to disclose millions of dollars worth of clothing, airfare, and housing provided to LaPierre on his W-2 “permitted him to file false personal tax returns with the IRS.”
    […]
According to the Journal, this isn’t a civil audit — i.e., they’re not treating him like someone who screwed up his return and needs to square up and pay back the money. This is a criminal investigation, meaning they think he may have deliberately concealed the payments from Uncle Sam.

Now, in normal circumstances, it might be difficult to prove that LaPierre knowingly participated in a scheme to defraud the government. But these are not normal circumstances, and not just because these people are too goddamn stupid to do crimes without leaving a paper trail. The NRA and Ackerman McQueen have been in a trench war for a year and half, with the media company threatening to spill all the details of LaPierre’s greasy double dipping. And if Ackerman and the NRA were partners in this scheme to keep all those expenses off the NRA’s books — and off the CEO’s tax return — then Ackerman has every incentive to get out in front of this thing to limit their own liability.

So, cheers to that! Take ’em all down, IRS man. (But no rush, we understand you might have to wait until January 21 to get the ball rolling.) Womp, and also, now that we think about it, womp.

  13. Something I’m seeing locally is a big push to help people vote absentee. From multiple places to get your ballot mail in ballot properly notarized to multiple locations for voting in person. If this is a nationwide phenomena in urban areas then it will make for an interesting election.
    Jack

  14. xrep….  lol!

trump looked really sick standing on the balcony and ripping off his mask.  He had to reach across his body to place said mask in his pocket.  He had a very pained look on his face while doing it.  stooooopid!

  15. Dr Conley must be truly special. I’ve never seen any other doc wearing tailored scrubs while at work.

  16. SFB was gonna run as a Dem, at one point.  Maybe he decided it was better to destroy the Republican Party from the inside; they are easy marks.
In addition to Addy, we don’t know why he went to WR last fall.  If he had a mini-stroke, and if cofeve causes blood clots…
Republicans are propping up a mentally incapacitated man.

  17. After i seeing the meme Sturge posted from facebook about people questioning why Republicans are getting COVID and not Dems, yesterday, i don’t have much to say.  Utterly stupefying.

  18. Bout that meme…..I commented:
“You’ve asked a good question but you  seem to be ignoring the most obvious answer.“

    He answered:

“If you’re going to say masks…it’s idiotic.. masks do very little, especially the stuff that most people are wearing…the whole mask mandate is as useless as Joe Biden.”

    I responded:

    Quod erat demonstrandum.

    Aint heard back yet.

  19. Sturg, I believe the appropriate response to QED is either (a) But, but… or (b) nunh uh.

  20. Here is the thing, even if masks aren’t the end all in protection not wearing one is a good indication of someone who will engage in other foolish behavior. It is why I steer clear of people not properly masked. They have other nasty infectious habits too.
    Jack

  21. Chalk up another one in the D’ump orbit who’s quarantining – Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Michael Milley, and several Pentagon top uniformed leaders.  Courtesy of NYT.

Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, along with several of the Pentagon’s most senior uniformed leaders, are quarantining after being exposed to the coronavirus, a Defense Department official said on Tuesday.

The official said almost the entirety of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, including Gen. James C. McConville, the Army chief of staff, are quarantining after Adm. Charles Ray, the vice commandant of the Coast Guard, tested positive for coronavirus.

“We are aware that Vice Commandant Ray has tested positive for Covid-19 and that he was at the Pentagon last week for meetings with other senior military leaders,” Jonathan Hoffman, the Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement released by his office.

“Out of an abundance of caution, all potential close contacts from these meetings are self-quarantining and have been tested this morning,” he added. “No Pentagon contacts have exhibited symptoms and we have no additional positive tests to report at this time.”

The announcement represents an alarming development — as the virus extends its reach from the highest levels of civilian government to the operational heart of the country’s national security apparatus.

    (Continues)

Great, nothing to worry about, right? Doing a spectacular job, right, D’umbass?

  22. “…not wearing [a mask] is a good indication of someone who will engage in other foolish behavior.” -Jack

    Bingo

  23. Oh, that’s cool that Pentagon leadership is crippled.  So much for a stronger military under trump🤷‍♂️

  24. Jack, exactly.  When the head of CDC says that the mask is perhaps more effective than a vaccine, masks obviously aren’t nothing.  Following up on your hygiene theme, I was at W-M (great sea of the unwashed in these parts) and a couple was in line to get in  – maskless of course – and the fathead male (technical term) was wearing a tee-shirt (complete with sleeves ripped off) that had a picture of a military style weapon (probably a Bushmaster, but I can’t tell them apart) with a caption that said BAN IDIOTS, NOT GUNS. Want to guess what cap he was wearing? Anyway, back to your comment – I don’t generally see maskless folks at Walmart who I would make to be thoughtful, educated people.  Even a couple of D’ump supporters I know have started  to understand that masks might be a good idea and wear them.

  25. jack, guns slung over their shoulder is another sign and, BTW, others are a bit concerned too about the gun-totin gopers:

Amnesty International USA issued an unprecedented pre-election advisory today, warning of the heightened threat of gun violence facing people in the U.S., and the potential for armed intimidation of voters, as they head to the polls.

The human rights organization pointed to a historic surge in firearm sales across the United States throughout 2020 as a signal of elevated risk, with the pandemic, mass unemployment, and a rise in white supremacist violence all contributing factors to potential unrest. Reported plans to recruit tens of thousands of partisan election monitors in battleground states, many of them likely to be armed, add further potential for violence and could result in abuses of the rights to life, health and security. One senior administration official even urged the public to “buy ammunition” in the lead up to the election, after President Trump suggested sending armed law enforcement to the polls.
Amnesty warns that Black and Latinx voters are particularly vulnerable targets of armed intimidation, and urges governors nationwide to take immediate action to protect every person’s safety while they vote. These precautionary measures would also protect tens of thousands of poll workers, who will be putting themselves at great risk already by volunteering to work in a crowded environment during a pandemic.
“The United States’ uniquely permissive gun laws are pouring fuel on the flames of a combustible moment, while the rules and norms to protect people participating in the elections from violence are not up to the task,” said Ernest Coverson, Manager of the End Gun Violence Campaign. “Given the surge in gun sales, the recent rise in political unrest and violence, and the sobering reality that there are more guns than people across the United States, Americans are more likely than ever to come face to face with armed individuals at their polling place. There are concrete actions that state officials can and must take to intervene.”
    [continues with recommendations]

  26. Just did a quick checkin at RCP.  The best news of the day for SFB is that a USAToday/Suffolk poll released today has him tied with Biden in Florida, which ironically is the worst news of the day for Biden.

  27. State media reporting Glorious Leader deadlifted 1000lbs., stopped a moving train with one arm, and shot 18 consecutive hole-in-ones.

  28. fever less likely in mornings they found back in the summer. see story in UK.

might also apply to other COVID symptoms that D’ump’s doc said he didn’t find this morning.

along the same lines from a huffpo piece in april:

CNN host Chris Cuomo offered more insight into his day-to-day experience battling the symptoms of COVID-19
Cuomo, who announced his diagnosis earlier this week, said that nighttime was the worst.
“The beast comes at night,” he said during a CNN town hall with Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta. “Nights are tough.”

  29. From WaPo – Facebook and Twitter don fig leaves.

Facebook removed a post from President Trump on Tuesday that called coronavirus “far less lethal” than the flu, reinforcing tension between the social media company and the president as the election approaches.

Twitter left the same post on its site but hid it under a public interest notice and limited how it could be shared.

“Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal!!!” Trump’s tweet and now-deleted Facebook post reads.

Trump on Monday night left Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he was being treated for covid-19. Earlier in the day, he posted on social media, “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.” That drew intense criticism online for what many saw as him downplaying the virus that has killed at least 209,000 people in the United States.

Neither Twitter nor Facebook took any action against the Monday post and did not respond to repeated requests for comment asking if it violated their policies against coronavirus misinformation. Both companies have pledged to remove coronavirus misinformation that could lead to physical harm.

If the D’umbass didn’t have a national TV audience listening to this crap I might be a bit more convinced it means anything.

  30. So, as the Atlantic has been reporting, the GOP is planning on stealing the election in Republican-controlled state houses, so flipping the Senate is critical.

They’re probably cancelling ads to pay for the lawyers.

(…basically, pandemonium on top of pandemic, if Dems don’t sweep)

  31. so plenty of time for Amy Culty Barrett but no time for all the folks financially impacted

  32. Jones’ll prolly lose that senate seat of AL. We Dems are within  striking distance of picking up 11 or 12 others. It probably won’t be that spectacular, but the power shift is going to make the ’18 Blue Wave look like a mere ripple.

Even if Moscow mitch wins in KY, as seems likely, Dems may have enough votes to keep him out of the Senate. Then the KY governor would be able to seat someone else. I think that denying the Majority Leader a seat would be a first in US history.

  33. What’ll all those Qidiots say when trump fails to arrest HRC ?  They’ll have died of C19 for nothing.

  34. xr, you’re going to have to explain the 2nd paragraph of your 4:42 comment to me – I’m missing something I think.

Poobah, that poll showing a tie between trump and biden in FL is the best news in polling trump got today.  I doubt he’d call it good news.  If D’ump is pulling OH and IA either the campaign thinks they’re in the bag or out of reach.  Public polling per RCP has Ohio at 1.2% and Iowa at .5%, both in Biden’s favor.  Hardly landslides. I’m guessing they are going to try to blitz FL as their firewall, but someone either knows something not apparent to me or they just can’t count.

  35. Another email from a right-wing relative in California. “…glad he is out of the hospital and hope he gets some rest before the debate as he will power right through it.”
She’s probably close to 70; my dad’s first cousin.  I wonder if they’ll get into it.  My dad near KC does not like SFB.  You’d think it would be reversed, the red and the blue.

  36. So he tells people not to be afraid.  The same guy who is trying to take away their health insurance got all the care he wanted for free

  37. Mr Pogo,
Q claims, the entire C19 business is a secret hoax that was invented to help Orange Shit Pile put HRC behind bars.

Now, aren’t you sorry you asked ?

  38. 1.1 M!LL!ON requests to register to vote in FL IN 1 HOUR ?
That’s a russian denial of service attack if there ever was one.

  39. Hmmm.  Eddie Van Halen dies and I get a solicitation from Globe insurance for a burial policy on the same day.  Coincidence? I don’t really believe in coincidence.

BTW, Alexandra Petri has outdone herself  – it was published yesterday, but oh my GAWD!  Perfect.

The good news in this moment of crisis is that the Trump administration has built up enough credibility that we absolutely understand what is going on right now! We have nothing to fear. The Trump team is now, and always has been, open and forthright with the American people. As President Trump said, “Going well, I think!”

In fact, it is going so well the president is leaving the hospital tonight! It is the clear, logical next step after what came before, and we, the American people, have no further questions, certainly not, “Really?” and, “Should he be doing that?” and, “That can’t possibly make sense, can it?”

“He may not entirely be out of the woods yet,” his physician, Sean Conley, acknowledged at a news conference Monday. But he will be out of the hospital — as everyone knows, after “the woods,” the hospital is the most dangerous place for patients to be during a critical time in their treatment. By the time you are reading this, he might already be back in the White House, which should not worry anyone, because the communication has been so straightforward throughout that there can be no possible cause for concern.

For instance, Conley was asked very clearly on Saturday whether the president had received any supplemental oxygen. “He has not needed any this morning, today at all,” Conley responded. Had he ever been on it? “Right now he is not.” Ever? “Yesterday and today, he was not on oxygen.” Well, I’m reassured! (“Have you ever committed any treason?” “Not this morning or literally right now!”)

This turned out to mean, Conley revealed Sunday, that he did not want to mention that the president hadneeded some supplemental oxygen, because that might give aid and comfort to the disease. (“I didn’t want to give any information that might steer the course of illness in another direction.”) I would never have guessed that was how diseases worked, but I am not a medical doctor.

He also reassured those who asked whether there were signs of scarring in the president’s lung tissue that they had looked into that and found “expected findings.” What are expected findings?!? Who was expecting them? What was the person who expected these findings expecting to find?

On Monday, he added that if anything had been found in Trump’s lungs, HIPAA required that he not tell us, “for his safety and his own health and reasons.” Nothing is a more compelling response to such an inquiry than, “I cannot tell you, because of reasons!” Oh, reasons! I am now at ease. I have no further questions.

In equally not-confusing terms, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows tried to state off the record this past weekend that things could possibly be going notso well, but he then corrected himself on the record to say that things were going great. ….

I may have to dry my pants.

  40. Bink, have my eyes gone so bad that in a paragraph about Mitch and Dems denying him a seat in the Senate if he wins that I missed references to Q, C19 and Hillary?

  41. They did drop-off registration in Dallas.  Folks could stay in their cars, register, drop it off and done.  I hope it was near public transportation.

This is Mental Health Awareness Week 10/4 (the day SFB went for a joy ride) – 10/10.  There are sure to be many more stupid and dangerous stunts by tRUMP and his supporters by the end of the week.
How do I convince my cousin to turn off Faux Noise, realize her dad fought against  the Nazis, and, SFB is a reckless and heartless man?

  42. Someone from the tRUMP cabal was on NPR this afternoon, lying about tRUMP ripping off his mask when got back to the WH.  He said they have  PPE available.  Hmmmm, Hopey said she was chided for wearing a mask.  The reporter asked why there wasn’t a mask mandate in place at the WH.  Answer: Personal responsibility
    BS!

  43. So, Wall Street didn’t like SFB’s no-soup-for-you statement.   It seems Orange Julius doesn’t care about economic recovery, but only himself.  C’mon Repugz, turn on the bastard now!

  44. “ Bink, have my eyes gone so bad…?” -Pogo

Apparently, because you were replying to xrep’s thought, not mine😜

  45. Steven Miller – time for Schadenfreude.
Giuliani hacking his lungs out during a Faux News interview.

Biden should NOT be anywhere near trumpity!!
Harris should have Plexiglas on 3 sides and top.

  46. Stephen Miller looks like the COVID bat and now he has COVID. The racist asshat deserves it.
The Hispanic Heritage Awards ended by encouraging viewers to vote.

  47. Donald Trump Jr. “wants to stage an intervention” because he thinks his dad’s “acting crazy” Throughout the net.

Aren’t interventions kinda of a surprise? Didn’t think they tell the world.

Is that trumpity’s way to exit a losing campaign?

  48. Bink, XR, I figured the crossed wires out. XR, what’s this mean?

Even if Moscow mitch wins in KY, as seems likely, Dems may have enough votes to keep him out of the Senate.

That’s what my question was addressing. Qidiots, fuck ‘em.

  49. “ what’s this mean?”-Pogo

The only thing you gotta knowwww is/ everything is show-bizzzzz…..

  50. Trump has been tweeting non stop and got temporarily locked down for revealing addresses.  He is round the bend crazy and there are ice bergs in the water

  51. Bink, I know that the D’umbass “administration” is nothing but show-bizzzzz, but my question to XR is a constitutional one.

  52. Shouldn’t someone have an intervention for whatever Junior and the Gargoyle are jacked up on?

  53. About those children in cages.
You can run but you can’t hide, the truth is coming out.
    From the NYT
First against the wall, Jeff Sessions, Rod J. Rosenstein, Stephen Miller, Gene Hamilton

    Jack

  54. “We need to take away children,” Mr. Sessions told the prosecutors, according to participants’ notes. One added in shorthand: “If care about kids, don’t bring them in. Won’t give amnesty to people with kids.”

From the NYT article linked above

Rod J. Rosenstein, then the deputy attorney general, went even further in a second call about a week later, telling the five prosecutors that it did not matter how young the children were. He said that government lawyers should not have refused to prosecute two cases simply because the children were barely more than infants.

  55. Rosenstein is a POS – just another D’umbassian but with a law degree. Biden needs to retire his ass involuntarily. He looked for a while like he might have some integrity, but as usual, fuck no.

  56. Anyone look at the sky tonight?  Mars is blazing red. Closest it’s been to earth in 15 years. And for once the sky over East Bumfuck is clear so I can see it.

  57. pogo, re XR’s comment on ridding us of myrtle, it was rumored that moscow mitch would retire if senate turns blue. fly in his ointment would mean gov andy would appt a dem to serve temporarily until next general election.  i think that rumor was in the wind during the time rep gov bevin was still in office.

  58. nbcnews:

President Donald Trump reversed course Tuesday night and urged Congress to approve a series of coronavirus relief measures that he would sign, including a new round of $1,200 stimulus checks for Americans.
Earlier in the day, he had halted talks between top Democrats and Republicans until “after I win” the election, which appeared to have killed the chances of a new package. Both moves by the president, who was released Monday from the hospital where he was being treated for Covid-19, were made on Twitter.
“If I am sent a Stand Alone Bill for Stimulus Checks ($1,200), they will go out to our great people IMMEDIATELY. I am ready to sign right now. Are you listening Nancy?” Trump tweeted Tuesday night.
He said in another tweet that he would approve funding for specific struggling industries, such as airlines and small businesses, which is short of what House Democrats proposed.
“The House & Senate should IMMEDIATELY Approve 25 Billion Dollars for Airline Payroll Support, & 135 Billion Dollars for Paycheck Protection Program for Small Business. Both of these will be fully paid for with unused funds from the Cares Act. Have this money. I will sign now!” Trump said.
