The FOX Factor

Hard to tell whether GOP senators are more afraid of Trump or Pete Hegseth’s boss, FOX NEWS.

“Though Sen. Ernst said at the start of her questioning that she was someone who would ‘pull no punches’ she did not challenge Mr. Hegseth — and at one point, even tried to rebut allegations…” — New York Times

Crossed in the mail …

So Barry McCaffrey sees Hegseth as a done deal and isn’t as concerned about it as the upcoming nominations of the likes of Tulsi Gabbard, RFK, Jr. and Kristi Noem. We…are….screwed.

BTW, how’s the mouth today? Better I hope.

The Village People are set to perform at one of Donald Trump’s inaugural balls, special prosecutor Jack Smith says Trump could have been convicted for insurrection, Democratic Senators grilled Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth about his problematic behavior, and the bathrooms at Starbucks are now for paying customers only.

craig and warning for Pogo,
don’t know why connecting to internet took 31/2 hrs but could be due to low digit temps and ice still everywhere. weatherman says there’ll be a short warmup friday and saturday but then will plummet again.

and here’s Kimmel with updates from LA

Wildfires continue to burn at both ends of our city with thousands of Angelenos under evacuation orders and warnings, lots of family members and friends and have been reaching out to us to check in and while we’re all very grateful, some of the outreach has been weird, we set up a donation center in our parking lot here at the show that will be open through Friday, January 17th from 10am – 6pm, we check in with Chefs Kim Prince and Greg Dooling who are feeding people in Pasadena out of their Dulanville Food Truck with World Central Kitchen, there’s a lot of misinformation running around about how and why the fires started, we are less than a week away from Donald Trump’s return to office, he is set to attend three balls and a parade, there are many musicians set to perform at his inauguration including the remaining members of The Village People who are NOT gay, Pete Hegseth was hammered during his confirmation hearing, Melania Trump made an appearance on Fox and Friends announcing that she plans to reboot “Be Best.”

The only good thing for the twentieth is the weather should be very cold (for DC), windy and frosty. I plan to be spending time on the internet and YouTube, not watching the end of America first two hundred forty-eight years.

It does bring to question what, if anything, is the orange moron going to do for twenty twenty-six?

I’m expecting the first words out of his mouth will be a declaration of national emergency and martial law is in effect.

patd, thanks for the warning but we’ve already got it here. Snow, Ice, temp when I left home was 4 degrees F. We got a light but effective blast of flurries that slickened up the roads last night and I had to go back to the office and get Mrs. P (she does not drive on even semi-slick roads). She was doing her customary “Slow down, Slow down, …” comedy routine all the way home.

So far, friends in LA doing okay. One couple and their five cats had a mandatory evacuation for 24 hours, but flames went another direction, so they are back home safe. Too many horrendous stories about others.

“If the pandering weren’t troubling enough, Meta is also sacrificing critical elements of its own autonomy by moving content moderation to Texas. There is, perhaps, no place in the country where the state government is spearheading more aggressive attempts to control free expression than Texas, a reality Zuckerberg failed to mention during his recent announcement.

In 2021, the Texas legislature passed House Bill 20, a law that prohibited social media companies from moderating political content and forced them to publicly disclose how they curated their content. NetChoice, a trade association that lobbies on behalf of Big Tech, filed a lawsuit against Ken Paxton, the attorney general of Texas, arguing that portions of the law were unconstitutional. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against the law last summer, but the implication was clear: By removing social media companies’ ability to exercise editorial discretion, Texas politicians hoped to turn a fire hose of misinformation on or off depending on when it suited them.

There will be more attempts by politicians to dictate what social media companies such as Meta allow users to share on their platforms. By announcing a move to Texas, Zuckerberg is signaling that he’s happy to place that decision in the hands of some of the nation’s most right-wing political forces.”

Hegseth is CLUELESS. They should’ve grilled him on the job, because nobody in MAGAtLand cared about sexual assault, financial mismanagement, etc. He knows nothing and will do whatever tRUMPsky tells him to do. As tRUMPer Vought said, we are in post-constitutional times.

Anon – They have already said they want to repeal the 19th Amendment. The incels always out themselves on podcasts, but will do so freely everywhere now.

patD – Yep, I fully expect Orange Adolf to go full-Ferdinand Marcos. If MAGAts didn’t like cofevee lockdowns, just wait.

Not sure what y’all are doing on Monday, but the TV gets muted as soon as SFB stands up to put his tiny hand on a Bible he’s never read, and lies (again) about taking an oath to uphold the US Constitution. I’ve signed up for an online class that starts at noon. I don’t want to watch the demise of everything in real time. I do mean everything, because Orange Adolf’s misdeeds will ripple around the globe.

Bondi is smirking. It’s a done deal. Karma will make sure they get what they deserve, even if we aren’t around to see it.

Anon, here’s hoping they stay 2-3 states away from the 38 states that need to approve an amendment through the ratifying convention process. At 23 states with Dem governors I don’t see that happening. And at 51% in the House and 52% in the Senate, they’ll need a lot of help from Dems. I don’t see 67% of both houses agreeing that sunshine is preferable to rain, much less an amendment to the USC. But then again, I didn’t see FF becoming the 47ty president..

Had to meet with an appliance repair guy this morning and had the Bondi Q/A on in the background. I heard her dancing and evading and wondered why not one Dem senator said something like, “You are a career prosecutor and I expect you to hold yourself to the same standard and responsiveness to questions that you would hold a witness to if you were asking the questions.” When asked about quotes of her own and of FF, her answers suggest she’s never met or heard a word either of them has uttered. She’ll be confirmed on a party line vote.

Of course he is. Laugh at him, getting upset just means he wins. He is gigging you so he can get a response. He is an idiot treat him like the idiot he is.
As to the Maga folks, they don’t care as long as he gets a rise from folks like you. For them your outraged anger is a win.

The win for team Trump is when you and others like you get all excited and angry. That is what gets the maga folks excited and when the maga folks are excited then Trump wins. Want Trump to win keep it up, express your outrage.
Ah, never mind, “go Bernie Sanders, yeah yeah yeah, socialism socialism whoo whoo whoo.”

I agree that if one gets outraged in front of Magas then they’ve won…. but there aren’t any Magas here that I’ve ever seen. IMO… this is a perfect place to get it out of you. For heaven’s sake… it’s just a blog. I call trump supporters idiots here… but I know better than to be running around my town and expressing that sentiment.

It’s the “electorates” who have ceded power. This is what they want, or what they don’t give a shit about. In for a rude awakening.

IvyGreen

He is and will always be the objectified First Felon. The “electorates” on the right never believed their hero did anything wrong. It was always false charges being brought against him in the witch hunts. He was “defending their rights” by storming the Capitol on January 6. It stands to their reason that nobody else has rights that counts equally to their rights. Their votes for him were to vindicate him and redeem their rights from the unworthy. That he survived two or more deadly assassination attempts only proves to them that he is God’s agent on earth.

Our biggest problem is propaganda/willful ignorance.

When farm subsidies, Social Security and Medicare get cut, MAGAts will wake up (and the ACA which they like as long as it’s not called Obamacare, because racism). It’ll be interesting to see how dangerous woke MAGAts will become.

It’s about time for POTUS Joe to say goodbye. Sad

General Barry McCaffrey , USA, ret., stated the Gaza death toll is at least 70,000, perhaps way more. He’s 82 now but gets paid for his well-connected reports on MSNBC.
This Pam Bondi seems clueless, says she never heard about any votes Trump tried to wrangle in Georgia. Fer crissakes, there was a sample-based pop song made about it. Or , of course, she’s a pathetic Trump sycophant.
And I still can’t get opening day admission tickets to The Deep State Museum that Kash Patel promised to make from The Hoover Building. Yeah, he’s going to make all agents, all employees, fan out into Motel 6 units and catch brown-skin people in the fields and ship ’em back to south of the border.
