  2. Bach. How could you miss with Bach?

I’ll have to listen to Bill on meloomia. She’s such a despicable shit. (Just did. Kudos to Bill. Best- I don’t dislike all brown people…only the brown ones).

Spent yesterday reclaiming the garage and repairing the lawn tractor after using it find an 8’ section of 2” perforated steel strapping someone somewhere in the past buried with just enough protruding for the center blade to find and try to pull out of the ground. The blade survived but the spindle, not so much.

  3. Nothing like Bach in the background while reading all the good news today. I like to put on Jack’s Sunday tunes, open another browser page and go surfing.

New General election poll – Pennsylvania

    🔴 Trump 47%

  4. just not ready for prime time…

Vance, asked about Mark Robinson’s online posts (a simple “no comment” would have been better than this gibberish):

    “I don’t 𝙣𝙤𝙩 believe him, I don’t believe him”.

I just think that you have to let these things sometimes play out in the court of public opinion. The allegations are pretty far out there, of course, but I know that allegations aren’t necessarily reality. He’s going to make whatever arguments he wants to make.”

  5. The FOX hate machine has totally failed, just like they did with Obama. NEW: Kamala Harris’ favorability has jumped 16 points since July, the largest increase for any politician in NBC News polling since George W. Bush’s standing surged after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. — https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/poll-newly-popular-harris-challenging-trump-change-rcna171308?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma&taid=66f01554bb8dff0001a7531f&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

  6. NBC News national poll
    (MoE +/- 3.1)
    Harris 49%
    Trump 44%

    Men: Trump 52-40%
    Women: Harris 58-37%

    White: Trump 52-43%
    Black: Harris 85-7%
    Hispanic: Harris 54-35%

    White, College+: 59-38% Harris
    White, no degree: 61-33% Trump

  7. Jumping back to Saturday’s post, I still believe that the election will be decided by women voters:  registered voters who may not be able take time due to busy work + childcare issues to vote via any manner.  Men are sill favoring Trump, young men , as Hogg writes, are gone, so bless Swift for organizing young and young adult women to find a way to vote.  If this thing goes to SCOTUS, it’s automatically over, we have seen that movie, forget that. It is all about getting more thousands of women to the polling places.   And Trump cheering on “Bring Back Slavery, I’d Own a Few” Mark Robinson seems to just bolster Trump even more.  Parts of American society are very, very, sick…and dangerous.

  8. Thanks, Sturge. First I’m hearing of the tragic shooting. 💔

  9. Dexter, very much agree with you — it’s all about the women

And Trump knows it. Yesterday he and his camp showed awareness their hyper-focus on maximizing male vote is not enough.

But what a clumsy way he’s going about restarting things with women. There was new language in his rally speech on Saturday, detailed earlier in the day with this post on Truth Social, as if a bunch of insulting gibberish in all caps is going to make a difference:

    Donald J. Trump
    @realDonaldTrump
    Sep 20, 2024, 11:42 PM

WOMEN ARE POORER THAN THEY WERE FOUR YEARS AGO, ARE LESS HEALTHY THAN THEY WERE FOUR YEARS AGO, ARE LESS SAFE ON THE STREETS THAN THEY WERE FOUR YEARS AGO, ARE MORE DEPRESSED AND UNHAPPY THAN THEY WERE FOUR YEARS AGO, AND ARE LESS OPTIMISTIC AND CONFIDENT IN THE FUTURE THAN THEY WERE FOUR YEARS AGO! I WILL FIX ALL OF THAT, AND FAST, AND AT LONG LAST THIS NATIONAL NIGHTMARE WILL BE OVER. WOMEN WILL BE HAPPY, HEALTHY, CONFIDENT AND FREE! YOU WILL NO LONGER BE THINKING ABOUT ABORTION, BECAUSE IT IS NOW WHERE IT ALWAYS HAD TO BE, WITH THE STATES, AND A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE – AND WITH POWERFUL EXCEPTIONS, LIKE THOSE THAT RONALD REAGAN INSISTED ON, FOR RAPE, INCEST, AND THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER – BUT NOT ALLOWING FOR DEMOCRAT DEMANDED LATE TERM ABORTION IN THE 7TH, 8TH, OR 9TH MONTH, OR EVEN EXECUTION OF A BABY AFTER BIRTH. I WILL PROTECT WOMEN AT A LEVEL NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THEY WILL FINALLY BE HEALTHY, HOPEFUL, SAFE, AND SECURE. THEIR LIVES WILL BE HAPPY, BEAUTIFUL, AND GREAT AGAIN!

  10. I lived in Five Points when I managed the John Glenn campaign in Alabama (we got his only double digits). Really enjoyed the area, can still taste all that excellent food.

And in a weird circumstance I lived in Atlanta’s Five Points when later that year I was state field director for Mondale/Ferraro.

  11. Word I’m seeing on the friends’ feeds it was a “targeted shooting.” An idea that’s not making them feel better or safer.

  12. Thoughts on new H 49, T 44 NBC poll:

    – Nice trend for Harris vs earlier NBC data

    – Trump’s best issue, Border (+21), declined by 30% in importance.

    – Harris now -9 on running econ, very good improvement over Biden but more to do.

    – Harris = Who best delivers change at 47%, Trump at 38%. That’s GOLD. This is a change election.

    – Border drop in importance real? Or blip?

    – Harris wins all the temperament stuff big, wins honest, wins mental/physical health by 20 pts!, ties on commander in chief. All very good/GOLD

    – Econ pain high. Who will voters decide has best way out? Cares most? Harris is losing by less and less on these, could be in positive territory by election day. That would be the deal closer.

  13. I don’t know how much it would help, but, I would like to see Harris-Walz talk about shopping in grocery stores and looking for things like coupons.  Something sfb and his nitwit would not understand, they can’t even spout egg prices while standing in front of the price labels.

  14. if only politicians could be honest and say things like “part of the problem is your behavior, American people “

that ain’t how one wins elections, though

  15. i’m running in 2028 on an “it’s all your fault” platform, Vote Me, 2028 It Was You The Whole Time 🇺🇸

Just kidding, vote for responsible adults like Harris/Walz 2024 🤝 🇺🇸

  16. I lived in Five Points when I managed the John Glenn campaign in Alabama

Cool to know, Craig. If you ever stepped near the post office there, then I’ve walked in your footprints many times. You must’ve been awfully young then as you’re still a spring chicken.

  17. One thing for sure, Trump’s efforts at black outreach are not working anymore. He’s back to single digits, even slightly below his 2020 numbers.

    NBC Black Voters

    July: Harris 69% Trump 12%

    Now: Harris 85% Trump 7%

    ———————–

    Similar shift with young voters

    NBC 18-34

    July: Harris 41% Trump 43%

    Now: Harris 57% Trump 34%

  18. Was there a movie theater and a swimming pool near 5 points?
I spent a lot of time at my granny’s on Oxmoor Rd.

  19. Tonight’s “60 Minutes” will air a piece about “Greedflation,” and CEOs boasting about ~inflation~ bring good for their bottom line.
    Do something!
Glad it’s getting airtime, but against football.

  20. The last, terrible taste of tRUMPsky’s campaign left behind for a wide swath of the public will be JD Vance, at the VP debate on Oct 1st.  JD has zero appeal to anyone but Putin, and only if he’s useful.

  21. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/09/22/mark-robinson-campaign-staff-resign-00180418
“Four top staff members on Mark Robinson’s campaign team have resigned from their roles…”
“Conrad Pogorzelsk III, Robinson’s general consultant and senior adviser, campaign manager Chris Rodriguez, finance director Heather Whillier and deputy campaign manager Jason Rizk all stepped down…”

    I guess they don’t not don’t believe him…or not don’t not.

  22. Mr. Sturge, if you are a facebooker, you might enjoy a site on there called Hahn’s Historic Birmingham. Easy to find by searching and easy to join. Treasure trove of old-timeys and people who love to answer questions. The comments are as informative as the posts.

If you trooped on Oxmoor Road, I have tread much in your path too.
