Justice Ruther Bader Ginsburg has died.

Just days before her death, as her strength waned, Ginsburg dictated this statement to her granddaughter Clara Spera: “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

  1. I do not think that the Repubs will have 51 votes to confirm Joseph Goebbels (or whomever these assholes pick for justice).  Romney may cave, Susan Collins will cave.  Now let’s see if the Dems have the balls to stand up and say that the Repubs have set the precedent on how to handle in 2016.

    All in all, not that good of a situation.

  3. I have no doubts that the greedy old perverts will confirm and swear in before the election some cretin so they can get a vote when SFB sues after the election.

    They probably heard she was going down hill and that is why SFB produced his list of hate.

  4. Never forget that 8 months before 2016 election Mitch McConnell said “The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.” The 2020 election is in 46 days.

I will put this quite simply – you cannot imagine the fear that is shooting through the Transgender community right now.  The guy declared war on us years ago, but has been held back by the courts and especially the Supremes.  There may be only four months left in his term, but there is a lot of damage to do to us.  I was not joking about asylum in another country, or claiming my right to citizenship in another country.  I did not expect RGB to die, but her passing makes life worse.

  8. @blueindallas, depends. He might not acknowledge her aside from this being his opportunity moving forward. I wouldn’t be shocked. We certainly knows about how he feels about women. Especially women who disagree loudly with him.

  15. Trump will dispute the election results if he looses and take it to the court. The new Supreme Court, now eight justices but possibly nine, will decide the election.

The goal here is to get this asshole out of the White House – period.  I know that the Supreme Court is vital, but given only one choice of A.  Trump is defeated, or, B.  We stall the Supreme post – which one would you choose?  Could it be that if Trumps lets the Dems win this – and waits on the nomination – everyone who wants to stop the baby killers and keep their guns – who was intending on voting for Biden – is now back in the Trump court.
    This is how he possibly wins – he changes the issue from him to the Supreme Court.  Support Trump and the repubs pack the court with right wing freaks.  This is his leverage on the American people.

  25. McConnell forcing this vote before Nov 3 guarantees he loses the Senate. Forcing this vote lame duck probably loses them more seats in 2022. (Portman,Toomey,Rubio,etc).

    In 2012, there were five votes to uphold Obamacare. One of them just died. Obamacare is headed back to the Supreme Court one week after Election Day.

    Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a legend and a fierce advocate for justice throughout a towering life. She should be admired, remembered, and mourned tonight.

    It would be nice if our politics would let even a day pass before pouncing on the death of a patriot for partisan gain. But my opponent has already done so—showing the world once again exactly who he is.

    I’m going to save politics for another day. But tonight, I want you to know: If the McConnell Rule was good enough in 2016, it should be good enough in 2020, and I will fight him every step of the way on this.
