What gives me joy this morning is thinking there is no way SFB did not watch at least a part of her speech, and it made him turn purple.

Michelle Obama was terrific! She definitely made the case for Trump needing to go. It’s up to us now.  That god damn monster has to go.

Nice to see you on last night’s DNC thread. Small world, I live in New Smyrna Beach as well.

It was lovely seeing MJ last night.  I would be curious what the count was from out our fan club in the clouds

Best question so far for the convention of greedy old perverts, when is Putin scheduled to speak?

Pogo

Poobah, I get your point about pre-taping the speech before the vice presidential pick up was made. I suppose I’ll have to cut a little bit of slack for that. My feeling was it was a hell of a good speech. I’m sure we will hear plenty about Kamala in the next three nights.

Craig,

I watched to the end of the Convention.  I just did it from my bed which is not computerized.

my take of the over the air coverage last night, a lot of pundits who thought what they had to say was more important than the convention presentation.  And what a bunch of idiots. BTW, I was able to see most of the convention by changing channels came every time the pundits came on.
From the response on twitter Ms Obama is the new “nasty woman”

Outside of chiding her fellow African Americans for not voting, this is the most important thing she said last night.

but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us. It is what it is.

Put aside the outrage over all the stupid evil stuff Trump does, in the end it comes down to Trump and his inability to handle a crises.  I loved the little “sad but true” at the end.

Last night just opened the show.  Michelle was classy with a bite, Kasich was effective, Bernie did what he had to do, and there were no major glitches.   Fireworks on the way.
Who’s up tonight?

Sturgeone

Dems have A-list celebrities, Republicans have bikers and Klansmen.  Oh, and Skid Rock, Nugent, and Baio. One group they don’t have are the Farmers.

What I loved about last night was that because there was no in person audience… there was no constant stopping of speeches because of applause.  Things went fast and efficiently.  Rick had to get up early this morning for an appointment…  so we were going to bed no later than 11 pm.  If this had been a normal convention, there’s no way we would have seen Michelle’s speech…  it would have started later than that.  We’re both happy that we got to see her….  she was wonderful!

I thought it all went as well as could b expected.  What was missing were the segues the audiences kind of provided with their welcoming applause – but I’ll give that up for the loss of the in-speech interruptions.

To give you an idea how effectively DeJoy is trying to make sure that SFB’s crusade against mail-in voting proceeds to deprive the voters of their right to vote – from WaPo:

The Postal Service is in the process of removing 671 high-speed mail-sorting machinesnationwide this month, a process that will eliminate 21.4 million items per hour’s worth of processing capability from the agency’s inventory.

Get that? 21.4 million items per hour fewer than before DeJoy took over.

Not entirely sure she needs a pardon at this stage of her life, but I suppose it can’t hurt. Nevertheless, haha if he thinks he’ll gain women voters with such a puerile miasma of conjumbled attempts at actually having “thoughts”. He’s such a cabbage.

Ms Obama was the only speaker I saw who was totally comfortable with just the camera.

Michelle said to vote in person, if you can.  Mail-in ballots are ASAP because of tRUMPco’s federal crime of obstruction of/tampering with the US Mail…not to mention tampering with the election.

OK kids, listen up.  Remember that US Senate committee that made the findings that Manafort, as D’ump’s campaign chair whose “contacts with Kremlin-linked officials posed a “grave counterintelligence threat,” according to the final volume of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, which also found that some of the campaign’s other Russian contacts had closer ties to Moscow’s government and intelligence services than previously reported” is the U.S. Senate committee that is controlled by Republicans in a Senate led by Mertle.  Looks like a small indication that the iron grip of the D’ump may be slipping just a scosch.  Russia hoax? Hmmm. Doesn’t sound that way.

Poobah, 538 is right about the CNN poll.  It’s the only poll in the RCP lineup since 8/3 that shows a statistical tie (4 point margin, 4 point margin of error).  Even the Hill/Harris poll still in the lineup with the same 4 point margin had only a 1.2 point margin of error).

The nice thing about arenas is that they have restrooms.  Some patriotic portapotty company needs to make sure that all polling places have facilities for those in line.

“One of the things the post office loses so much money on is the delivering packages for Amazon and these others. Every time they deliver a package, they probably lose three or four dollars,” he said. “That’s not good. They have to raise those prices — OK — not for the people to pay, but for Amazon and those companies to pay.” – trump

The 1st thing they teach you in business school is the supply and demand curves. The SECOND THING they teach you in BUSINESS SCHOOL is that businesses pass increased costs onto consumers.

Strother Martin:  After the war, Martin moved to Los Angeles and worked as a swimming instructor and as a swimming extra in water scenes in films.[3] He earned bit roles in a number of pictures and soon gained frequent character roles in films and television through the 1950s, having appeared in such programs as the western anthology seriesFrontier on NBC and the syndicated American Civil War drama Gray Ghost. He was cast in 1955 as Landry Kersh in the episode “Shadow of God” on the ABC religion anthology series, Crossroads. He gave a memorable performance as a man with learning difficulties in the “Cooter” episode written by Sam Peckinpah in the third season of Gunsmoke (1958).

It bears repeating.

Also, he won’t be at the Capitol on Jan, 20, 2021, he’ll either be in Moscow or Riyadh. Or, dead by suicide, ala hitler. 😷

Why do I find the following to be ridiculous?

DeJoy, a former logistics executive and ally of President Trump, took office in June and swiftly made organizational changes to the nation’s mail service, cracking down on overtime hours and banning extra trips by postal carriers trying to ensure on-time mail delivery. The result was mail delays in localities across the country that ensnared prescription medications and election mail during some mid-summer primaries.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the purpose of logistics is to move stuff from one place to another when it needs to be there. Aren’t the bean counters (like CFOs) the ones who insist on doing away with overtime hours and banning extra trips to save money?

xrepublican

Did Susan B. get out yet ? Maybe trump can have her old cell.

Pogo

So I wonder if the Senate Intel Committee findings about Manafort influenced DeJoy’s reversal?  From WaPo:

The U.S. Postal Service will halt its controversial cost-cutting initiatives until after the election — canceling service reductions, reinstating overtime hours and ceasing the removal of mail-sorting machines and public collection boxes, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced in a statement Tuesday.

The declaration comes as lawmakers prepared to question DeJoy and USPS board of governors Chairman Robert M. Duncan in a Friday hearing in the Senate and at a Monday hearing in the House on those policy changes, which have caused mail slowdowns and threatened to jeopardize ballot collection during the November election.
(Continues)

My take is he knew his chestnuts were about to get roasted over an open mic.  Either he’ s gone next week or he and Lardius have something else cooked up to fuck with mail-in balloting.

xrepublican

dejoyk says he’ll cease reduction of sorting machines and collection boxes, but will he also replace those machines and boxes that he already ‘reduced’ ?
