Warren also outraised — on Biden’s behalf — Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.) who starred in a recent Biden money event that brought in $3.5 million.
    (All are expected to be eclipsed next week by a new fundraising anchor, former president Barack Obama.)
    Warren also plans to appear at an event to raise money next month for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, which will benefit a host of Democratic candidates, according to a person familiar with the schedule.

  9. BiD I get your point about the fire in a theater example, but that is an example of limits on the right to free speech in the first amendment. The parallel is there but I’d say the mask example sounds more like a tort like failing to exercise due care resulting in injury or death or its criminal corollary reckless endangerment.

Yup…  Warren is doing big time fundraising with big time donors.  Remember when she attacked Pete B. for raising money that way during the debates.  Seems she’s had a “come to Jesus” moment about the fact that the repubs will have a lot of money for the prez race and that the Dems had better have it too.

  12. Awareness of these kinds of attitudes is one thing. Directly being exposed to them was…I’m not sure of the right words. I was offended. I was saddened. I was embarrassed.
    Yesterday I was getting some blood work and 2 older men were also waiting. One man had one of those stupid red hats with the name of the occupant on it. He was also wearing a mask of the American flag. I personally feel that the flag should not be worn as any type of garment. I find it disrespectful. 
    Anyway, these are the kinds of things I heard from these men – “He’s the only one that can get us out of this mess.” “Those people don’t know how good they have it. They should just shut up and go back to the ghetto.” “We’re being socially engineered.” “So tired of seeing all this liberal BS on the news.” “No black run government has ever been successful.”
    They were starting in on Mr Soros when I was finally called to get my blood work. I know that kind of stuff is being said, but I’d never really heard it before, said right in front of me by people who actually believe it. I guess the word I was looking for was ugly. They were a couple of ugly old guys who won’t be reached. Their hatred is simply part of them. 
    Ugly.

    Well, this is BS.  Starting July 6th, unemployed Texans will, again, have to start proving that they are actively looking for work to get benefits.   This comes as many businesses are not 100% open and never will be due to staffing cuts, some restaurants and bars are actually re-closing, some businesses are gone, and, not everyone can do every available job.    They are just rubbing salt into the wound. ~Darned, entitled folks who think they deserve food and shelter.~  Deep in the heartlessness of Texas.

    The news site also reported the book will detail the previously undisclosed fact that Mary Trump was the main source for a Pulitzer Prize-winning series by The New York Times, which alleged that President Trump “participated in dubious tax schemes during the 1990s, including instances of outright fraud, that greatly increased the fortune he received from his parents.”

  39. One of the maintenance guys at work (who is white) was wearing this face mask at work today. I was like, “Woah. I had no idea! He had beliefs like that.” Another guy asked him if he was one of “those protesters”. Then he tried to explain the true meaning behind what is on the Confederate flag. The maintenance guy shut him down. He said, “I’m with you, brother.” after a few back and forth remarks. The maintenance guy said, “No, you’re not.” I gained so much respect for this maintenance guy. Sometimes, I think there is hope for this world.

    There are countries around the world, large and small, where aggressive government action and a mutual commitment by the population have gotten the coronavirus pandemic under control. The United States is not one of them.

    Well over 2 million Americans have been infected, over 115,000 of us have died, and rather than falling, our rates of new infections and deaths seem to have stabilized at horrifically high rates.

    Yet now, in a propaganda effort that can only be described as obscene, the Trump administration is trying to convince us not only that the pandemic is all but behind us, but also that its spectacularly incompetent response has been a great triumph.

    This will without a doubt go down as one of the worst presidential failures in American history. And we can see now that it had three distinct (if overlapping) phases.

  52. Pat – We were at a medical facility, so they were required to wear masks and both did. I got called back to get my blood drawn so I didn’t hear if they whined about the masks.
    BiD – Well, I was definitely getting angry. Fortunately I could leave right after they took blood. Otherwise my restraint might have been tested.

Then, they bring up the Atlanta killing and say it’s not even close to the George Floyd case and that there’s a war on cops. I could see where they were headed.  I’m too ticked off and disappointed to respond.
