  1. “84% of Sanders donations under $200 meaning donors don’t have to be identified under FEC rules, meaning Russia can pour cash into his campaign with no fingerprints.”

craig, this has been my concern ever since reading about the mueller indictments of the 13 Russians.  we’re not talking big money being laundered here by vlad  since the campaign boasts more about the number of small donations than the money itself.

  2. I hope these latest revelations about Bernie!’s Russia connection and more importantly his concealment of the briefing a month ago, which came to light only after WaPo picked the right scab and revealed it gets notice and turns some of those who bought his schtick To reconsider their support. What was Bernie’s response? An SFB-like blaming of WaPo and angry old man “warning “ to Russia against interfering in our election- oh and a thank you note for the help in funding his increased support over the past month as he surged into the lead in Iowa, Nevada and nationally. Fucking asshole. I only hope some of those who bought his bullshit over the last month wake the fuck up and vote for someone, anyone, else.

  3. CC…..I can appreciate your frustration.  As I wrote the other day the plain fact is that when I work 7 days a week, as I sometimes do, the day of the week slips into the foggy background as I juggle the endless fractions, widths, and lengths up with which I must keep.  No excuses, (an explanation of cause is not a justification by reason), I just tune out what isn’t necessary for making sure my doors fit my openings, as it were, and set about making the openings.
Don’t want to complicate your time and efforts, though, that’s just a total drag. Ain’t nobody got time for dat.
I’ll see you in the gloaming when all my work is done and there is no race to run.
And I will set up an email even if it kills me.

  4. Blago already on tv.   You know, if I’d done something rotten  and got caught at it, and been sent to the big house and then magically found myself set free by the 800  Lb. gorilla….. you wouldn’t see me on tv becauseI would go as far as I could and find a nice big fat rock to hide under.

  5. sturge, perhaps he has no other choice than to publicly kiss the gorilla’s ass.  no rock is big and fat enough to hide from the gorilla’s goons out to collect the quo for his quid.

  6. This continues to bug shit out of me.

Sanders told reporters Friday after The Post’s report was published that he received the briefing “about a month ago.” Asked why he did not disclose the briefing publicly, Sanders replied, “Because I go to many intelligence briefings which I don’t reveal to the public.”

Just pisses me off that he’s using SFB tactics to co- opt the party I care about and that more than 20% of the party buys it.

  7. query for trail counsels:

judge Jackson still may punish roger stone for gag order violations since she has not ruled on that (or the new trial motion) yet.   will IMpotus be able to do anything about it (like commuting sentence) if she jails him for it?

  8. from politico about those bigtentproject ads on day of LV debate:

BREAKING … ANOTHER DEM-ON-DEM FIGHT is about to start. THE BIG TENT PROJECT — a Dem 501(c)(4) group aimed at boosting moderates — has $1 MILLION to spend in South Carolina and Nevada to bash Sen. BERNIE SANDERS (I-Vt.). The group’s executive director is JONATHAN KOTT, a former top aide to Sen. JOE MANCHIN (D-W.Va.). (C4s don’t have to disclose donors, so we won’t know who is behind this.)

THEY ARE RUNNING TWO ADS, as of now, spending $200,000. But the group views this effort as a test run, both in the pair of states and in the broader effort to try to whack SANDERS.

ONE AD accuses SANDERS of dumping waste in Latino communities — and making money off of it.

THE OTHER AD gets to some of the main misgivings centrist Dems have with Sanders: that his plans are too aggressive, and too expensive. It is not subtle. SCRIPT: “Socalist Bernie Sanders promises the world. But at what cost? Sixty trillion in new spending. Losing our private health care. Largest middle-class tax hike ever. The cost? Another four years of Donald Trump.”

    — KOTT told us this: “Despite over 50 years in public life, Bernie Sanders has never been fully vetted. The Big Tent Project will shed light on his record of politically toxic policy proposals starting in Nevada and South Carolina. Voters need to understand that his well-known plans to kick union employees off their health care plans and end all private insurance, raise middle-class taxes and double the size of the government, and his less well-known radical views, like his efforts to dump nuclear waste in Hispanic communities, will repel many general-election voters.

“EITHER THIS STUFF IS DEBATED NOW, when Democrats have time to consider it fully, or it will come out in the fall, in a torrent of negative ads by the Trump team that would likely prove politically fatal. Democrats deserve the facts before they choose a nominee.”

  9. Bernie outta bow out because of his health.    Those who still support him should take s step to to the right and have a look at Warren. As Liz said, she’d a capitalist; she’s not Bernie.  That works for me.
The super delegates will stop Bernie if they need to/can.

  10. M Hackmer…  loved that Jan Brady comment.  But, IMO, this is not one of those “you protest too much” moments.  Loved Bink’s response last night… so…  I’ll repost it here.
…and i just gotta say, lest the utterly-baffling nefariousness of the Putin-led Russian regime be questioned: we’re talking about a nation-state that uses polonium two-thirty-whatever dissolved in tea to murder political dissidents harbored in foreign (to them) countries and employs de-badged state soldiers to invade Crimea and then denies that those obviously Russian soldiers are acting at the behest and direction of the Russian state (which is patently absurd), so please understand my personal consternation when i don’t perceive it a bridge too far to believe that nation-state might kick a few rubles down to eager and desperate internet trolls, to fuck with us.  Of course they would, as often as possible.

  11. Patd, re: the gag order violations & Stone – yes, SFB could pardon him for that, too, I’d think.

  12. My son turned 57 yesterday.  Since I am still 36 until March 2 when I will once more be 36, this came as a shock.  Today other than a short shopping trip, it will be all caucus all the time.  Anyone have any great Vegas stories for the duration?

  13. Interesting topics for the duration:  Experts Rank the Best U. S. Presidents

It doesn’t include SFB and counts in reverse order where he will probably rank at the bottom eventually.  I like it because it grades on several qualities to get a total score.  For instance Obama is ranked 12, but has higher scores in some areas.  The usual suspects of Lincoln and Washington rank 1 & 2  mainly due to the “Performance with in the context of their time” scores.

  14. The problem isn’t having time to make a post, that part is easy…..the problem is remembering that it’s Friday…..lol

  15. I’m sure there are a plethora of solutions to this vexation…..for some reason I always remember when it’s Tuesday….maybe I can make that my deadline.    Meanwhile, back in the jungle:

  16. Corey – Mercedes rules.  Gotta watch  those shift changes in Vegas.
Just voted!  Yes, tiptoe, it feels good to have paper ballot, too!

  17. …and thanks for the compliments, i guess.  i hate my writing.

Anyway, i think it’s “two-twelve”, without looking it up (because that’s cheating).

Also: thank You people for all of Your posts, especially the news and information blurbs. i have less and less time to scan the news, myself, and there are more and more stories of continually deepening intrigue, so thanks for sorting the wheat from the chaff, for me. Keep it up, i read it all. (humbly requesting you sure there’s no disinformation, please- i don’t have time to fact-check).

    Thank you!

  18. wapo:

President Trump has directly weighed in on the White House review of a forthcoming book by his former national security adviser, telling his staff that he views John Bolton as “a traitor,” that everything he uttered to the departed aide about national security is classified and that he will seek to block the book’s publication, according to two people familiar with the conversations.
    […]
Trump told national television anchors on Feb. 4 during an off-the-record lunch that material in the book was “highly classified,” according to notes from one participant in the luncheon. He then called him a “traitor.”
“We’re going to try and block the publication of the book,” Trump said, according to the notes. “After I leave office, he can do this. But not in the White House.”

  19. Nevada entrance polls show Bernie running away with it. 51% of the Hispanic vote. Battle for 2d place among Biden, Buttigieg, Warren but each dangerously close to 15% viability. Bernie could win nearly all 36 delegates.

  20. Looks like Julian Castro isn’t helping Elizabeth Warren with Hispanic voters, after all.     Are the Russian/Republicans putting out disinformation in Spanish, by any chance?

  21. Craig

It does look as if a lot of Nevada has bought the Sanders nonsense.  They just can’t seem to separate liking the positions and the man who couldn’t even deliver mail with a guide dog for help.  My reply to the latest push from the vote blue no matter who types that are really asking if I would vote for him:

Only one would make me feel dirty in need of a stiff drink to get over the experience is Bernie Sanders because I blame him for a lot of the Hillary loss and sticking us with Trump. If I had to vote for him I would, but it would definitely require a really hot bath to scrub off the slime.

I should receive my ballot for early voting this coming week, but I have until 3/10 to return it.  At least I can wait for SC & Super Tuesday to decide between Klobuchar and Biden.

  22. The list of candidates on my ballot, they were allll there; folks whom I had forgotten had given it a go.  Marianne Williamson was at the top; the order seemed completely random.    Somebody send Bernie a nice, fatty something-or-other and a salt shaker.

  23. No spring chicken, indeed.  That’s quite an understatement. But I still do the work of 30 1/2 teenagers.  Thanks, Bush, for putting me 6 yrs behind the fuggin 8- ball.
    Buttwipe.

  24. You know, 30 1/2 teenagers unless those teenagers are Iowa farm boys, then the ratio is adjusted somewhat.

  25. The Nevada results, so far, are disappointing.    Will final turnout for Bernie in Nevada be lower than last time?

  26. Bernie is in El Paso and San Antonio today.  I guess that’s his battle plan.   Unison con Bernie?  No.

  27. Ok, so things are going to start moving quickly. Bernie is going to become the target in the next debate. I hope it has the same effect it had on Mike. I’m predicting that after March 2 it will be Bernie being annoying by Joe, with Mike hanging out there. I hope to god Bernie doesn’t have what looks like an insurmountable delegate lead by the end of March.

  28. Boy, if it would let that video post I could show you how to make a perfect toe-kick cut-out in a cabinet side😉

  29. It’s understandable that Dems wanted to show strength against Trumpsky, but now it’s clear they need to get past Bernie.  One argument can be used against both of them; it’s what Pooh-tin wants.

  30. Warren has pulled ahead of Joe & Mayor Pete!

Also, Trumpsky should realize that nobody except his rabid, racist followers believe a word coming out of his mouth, nor ut out of the mouth of anyone of his evil minions or those he spawned.

  31. WTF coverage are you watching, BiD?  She’s 4th behind Buttigieg and 3.% below the threshold to get any delegates (assuming I understand the NV rules).

  32. Buttigieg doing a nice speech at his HQ.  Before we rush to nominate Sanders (and commit political suicide)…

Definitely love Pancho and Lefty.  “…All the Federales say, coulda had him any day…”. Great song by cracky.  Medley of his hit – and a terrific sense of humor.

  33. I have a tape of me playing with Townes…..they recorded the whole night but used a part of it on the end of the big Lebowski with just Jimmie Sam Gray and Townes..

  34. Sturg- Cool!
Pogo – CNN had Warren 2nd in percentage, not actual committed delegates earlier on the night.

  35. I cannot understand what that delegate count could have been.  She’s not ahead of Joe or Pete anywhere I’m aware of.

  36. On the CNN main page, there is a delegate count tab.  Early in the night, she was ahead of both Biden and Pete, percentage-wise.  (Not a committed delegate count, just a percentage.) She was at 18-something at that point; Joe and Pete were tied at 17-something. Unfortunately, that changed.
I guess the silver lining is that Bernie has less than 50% and this is only Nevada.

  37. Bink, I report what I see at MSNBC, CNN WaPo and RCP. I don’t suppress anything. You got different numbers?  Spill ‘em. I’m open to data, I just don’t buy shaded results driven by zeal.

  38. This article tells me all I need to know about Bernie! as the ticket topper.

As Bernie Sanders’s momentum builds, down-ballot Democrats move to distance themselves

Former astronaut Mark Kelly, the Democratic Party’s hope for flipping a U.S. Senate seat in Arizona, tried to do no harm this month when he was asked about Sen. Bernie Sanders. “I will ultimately support who the nominee is of the Democratic Party,” he said.

That was enough for Kelly’s Republican rival, Sen. Martha McSally (R-Ariz.), who is trailing him in early polls, to go on the attack. The television spot she debuted days later spent nearly as much time talking about plans by the democratic socialist from Vermont to raise taxes and award new benefits to undocumented immigrants as it did about Kelly.
    (Continues)

    Damn.

  39. There won’t be a Sanders/Warren ticket. Remember, she’s a capitalist.   I don’t don’t who would run with him, aside from Tulsi Gabbard.  He seemed to get along with Yang, but different views.     Guess we’ll have to see what kind of havoc Mike creates on Super Tuesday.  Maybe that will shake things up enough that it comes down to a floor fight at the convention.  Super delegates won’t want to support Sanders.   Biden/Klobuchar?

  40. It feels like no one listens to Rachael.  The dictator hasn’t even begun to scratch the surface of the hideous things he can do.  He and the ghoul, Stephen Miller, figure it out as they go along. They should be stopped.  Again, Tribe said, impeachment, vote him out, or take him out. Number 2, the election, is next.

I also wonder why the dictator, et. al. have been totally mum when it comes to attacking Rachael.  Not that I want them to.  It’s just noticeable.

  41. It felt good to vote for Liz today.  I’d love to hear her debate SFB.  I’d love to vote for her in November.  I’d love for her to be the first, female POTUS.  Of course, if lightning were to strike twice, I’d take Pelosi for a few months, first.

  42. tt – Yep.  Trumpsky is consolidating power.   It’s crazy that the only Republican that cares about our country is Mitt Romney.   Repugz in the Senate  had a chance to save us and they behaved like good, little Nazis.  Shameful.

  43. Manchin’s aide’s bankrolling coal barons were ineffectually tardy in getting out their ‘big tent project’ swipe at bernie!

  44. blue, yep!  Glad you voted.  Did you like the new paper ballot? Just like with Germany, after the Nazis NO ONE in Germany owned up to having been a Nazi.  The repubes will deny that they enabled. or allowed, the dictator to continue and change the narrative to it was the Dems fault.  The same old happy horse-shit.

  45. Mr Pogo, possibly the industry – especially the western coal industry. It’s a 2-fer, smearing bernie! as the radioactive poisoning candidate, while smearing non-carbon power as socialistic. Damn shame it came too late to help Liz & Joe in Nevada.
