    The Late Show host Stephen Colbert roasted President Trump for his nonchalant reaction to a man collapsing right behind him at a meeting in the Oval Office.
    Donald Trump, 79, was pictured standing idly by when a guest stumbled and collapsed at the event, with pharmaceutical executives and government officials gathered for a press conference about a deal to lower the cost of some obesity drugs.
    The chaos didn’t appear to faze the president, who slowly rose from his seat at the Resolute Desk and looked silently on at the cameras with a vacant expression as others rushed to lay the man out on the ground.
    Host Colbert drew his audience’s attention to a photo from the scene, which has gone viral. The image shows a blank-faced Trump as officials rushed to attend to the man who collapsed.
    “Honestly, it was good to see everybody rushed to help him,” Colbert said. “Well, almost everybody, because this photo has been going around. Take a look at this viral photo from after the fainting.”
    “Look at that. That—they got his legs up and everything. That picture is worth a thousand words, None of which I can say on CBS,” said Colbert.
    “As I said, the fella is okay, but I’m sure that was scary. But thankfully, the room was full of exactly who you want in a medical emergency… Pharmaceutical executives,” Colbert teased to a laughing audience. “Quick, quick, someone maximize shareholder value!”

Thanks to creaky knees lp and I bike around the area when we’re not poking around SoHo with Mrs. P. LP lived on W 3rd St. and we’d ride over to the bike path and ride uptown past the piers and parks. It’s a great area. We stayed in the area a couple of times and really enjoyed it and will probably stay there this trip as well.

    A federal judge on Thursday issued a preliminary injunction against federal agents in Chicago to limit the use of force against peaceful protesters and journalists. U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis’s move comes in response to a lawsuit alleging agents used excessive force during an immigration crackdown in the Chicago area.

    Ellis’s ruling comes after hearing testimony in the case, some of which spoke to people’s encounters with armed federal agents as well as U.S. Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Gregory Bovino over October footage appearing to show him deploying tear gas in the city.

    Ellis said Bovino “admitted that he lied about whether a rock hit him before he deployed tear gas in Little Village.” She also said she found that “the use of force shocks the conscience,” and that this conduct “shows no sign of stopping.”

    The pending appeal comes from Kim Davis, a former county clerk from Kentucky who refused to issue marriage licenses after the Supreme Court’s blockbuster 2015 decision, Obergefell v. Hodges, allowed same-sex couples to legally marry. Davis, who has fought her case for years, has directly asked the court to jettison that decision. “The time has come,” Davis argued in a recent filing, for a “course correction.”

    “I am very concerned,” James Obergefell, the namesake of the landmark precedent, told CNN this week. “At this point I do not trust the Supreme Court.”

    One of the factors the Supreme Court considers when weighing the possibility of overturning a precedent is whether Americans have come to rely on the decision. In the case of same-sex marriage, those considerations could include factors like child custody and financial planning.

    Perhaps the more important question is whether the Davis petition is an opening salvo in a longer campaign against Obergefell that will slowly build, just like the ultimately successful effort by conservatives to overturn Roe v. Wade. On the one hand, cultural and political winds have shifted significantly on gay marriage in past decades. Three years ago, Congress passed a federal law protecting same-sex and interracial marriage with bipartisan support.

    Once hailed as a powerful grassroots force for “parental rights” in education, Moms for Liberty had become synonymous with book bans, anti-LBGTQ+ activism, and public school censorship campaigns.

    Political analysts say the 2025 elections confirmed what polling data had hinted at for months: voters across party lines are increasingly rejecting the divisive tactics that defined Moms for Liberty’s national strategy.     On Thursday, during the company’s Annual Shareholder Meeting, Tesla shareholders have voted to approve CEO Elon Musk’s ridiculously hefty pay package that could net him $1 trillion dollars worth of Tesla shares. That, on top of the roughly $473 billion he already owns, would make him by far the wealthiest person on Earth and the world’s first trillionaire.

    Getting that trillion won’t be easy. According to the terms of the 2025 CEO Performance Award, as the agreement is innocently called, Musk will have to stay at Tesla for seven and a half years, and bring the company’s market share to $8.5 trillion in order to earn the full award, as well as hit a number of other goals such as deliver 20 million Tesla vehicles, 1 million “bots,” and have 1 million Robotaxis in commercial operation.
    For comparison, the largest company by market cap is currently Nvidia with a “mere” $4.6 trillion capitalization, followed by Apple with $4 billion. Yes, Tesla would have to be roughly the market cap of both Apple and Nvidia combined for Musk to achieve this goal.

    President Donald Trump lashed out at an NBC reporter after she fact-checked him on the affordability of grocery prices.

    During a White House meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Friday, Trump touted Walmart’s Thanksgiving meal promotion, which the company said was cheaper than in 2024.

    Fact checkers, however, pointed out that the promotional meal contained fewer items, used generic brands, and featured a smaller turkey.

    “Mr. President, since you brought up the Walmart Thanksgiving meal, and it is cheaper, but it also contains less,” the reporter noted.

    “Fake news!” Trump bellowed. “NBC, you’re fake news! NBC’s gone down the tubes along with most of the rest of them.”

    “Why do you think there’s such a disconnect between the economy that you’re describing today and the way many Americans say that people in and are concerned about our country right now?” the reporter pressed.

    “So I just heard this yesterday that Walmart said that the Thanksgiving was 25 more expensive, 25% more expensive under Biden,” he continued. “That’s a big, to me, that’s a big number, because Walmart’s respected. I mean, Walmart is Walmart, and, you know, they’re giving you prices.”

    “So that would mean that the whole series of pricing and costs, you know, the groceries and everything else, it was a con job.     Private jets make up one in six flights handled by the FAA, and taxpayers already foot the bill for their ‘jet setting,’ says Patriotic Millionaires.

    Patriotic Millionaires, a group of high-net-worth individuals who advocate for more progressive taxes in order to close the wealth gap, is suggesting an alternative that it says would spare commercial airline passengers and still offer relief for air traffic controllers: Just cancel all private flights.

    If you need a 10% reduction [in flights], you can get 100% of your reduction from the private planes. You do not need to affect commercial flights, period,” says Erica Payne, president and founder of Patriotic Millionaires.

    To Payne, the FAA is “choosing to have everyone suffer rather than grounding planes that are destroying the planet and flying one or two people at a time in the lap of luxury.”

  48. Oh the day. Finally rerouted the television antenna cable, what a pain in the hinterlands. It works, now I need to install a bigger antenna and motor.

    Making bread in my Zojurushi bread maker. All good, and then a power out. So I ended up dumping the raw dough into a bread pan. Instead of trying to clear out my oven/storage unit, I brought my countertop oven. After final rise I fired up the oven, it still works after a decade in the way in the second bedroom. A little bit after pre-heat and shoving the loaf pan into the oven, there was a burnt smell. Ooops, forgot the extra rise during baking. Okay, next time the bread maker is running off of battery power.

    Finally. The latest disaster of a presser in the Oval Office. Several things going on; the Internet sites provide a lot of comments, some comical, a few stupid (a lot of them stupid), a very few looking at sfb, but not seeing what I saw.

    He is standing there a somewhat vacant stare, maybe some side look to the person who collapsed. When you look at his posture, where is hands are. The first thing I saw was what a kindergartner would look like when told to go stand by the table after some incident. He has a vacant look, like the rodents left the wheel for a coffee break and nothing is going on in the depths of his cranium. He has always been noted as a germaphobe; as someone who thinks sick people are bad. Now, with his mental deterioration he reacts like a toddler. Last week it was walking off at the ceremony in Japan, with the premiere chasing after him.

    With all that is going on I am changing my guess of New Years Eve, to Christmas Eve.

    President Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court on Friday evening to block a lower court ruling that required the administration to fully cover food stamp benefits for tens of millions of Americans in November.

    The emergency request to the justices came hours after an administration official announced that it was working to comply with the ruling to fully fund the program that was issued a day earlier by US District Judge John McConnell in Rhode Island.

    FBI urges ICE agents to identify themselves after string of impersonators commit crimes

    Citing a string of incidents in which masked criminals posing as immigration officers robbed and kidnapped victims, the FBI recently issued a memo suggesting agents clearly identify themselves while they’re in the field.

    In the memo, the FBI says that criminals impersonating law enforcement “damages trust” between them and the community and that law enforcement has an “opportunity” to better coordinate with their local, state and federal partners.

    It calls for informational campaigns to educate the public about impostors and for agents to show their identification when asked while out in the field.

    The FBI’s memo, obtained through a records request by the national security transparency nonprofit Property of the People, was prepared by the New York field office and first reported by Wired magazine. It details several instances where people impersonated immigration agents.

    “I don’t know if there is federal law that requires a standard police uniform,” David Levine, a professor of law at UC San Francisco said. “It’s good practice to have a distinguishing uniform. Because when you have federal agents dressing as ruffians, with scarves over their faces and glasses in a paramilitary fashion, then it’s so much easier for people to impersonate them.”

    *Plausible deniability for human rights violations? It wasn’t us who roughed up and kidnapped that person who was then disappeared to a concentration camp or 3rd-world prison, or was left for dead in a ditch in the desert by a non-government goon.

    But the administration is simultaneously telling states that it will immediately begin funding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program after a weeklong lapse — the first in the program’s 61-year history.

    A federal appeals court rejected the administration’s emergency request Friday night, leaving the order in place to fully fund SNAP for November.

    The administration then swiftly appealed to the nation’s high court, which hours later granted Trump’s request to temporarily freeze the judge’s order while the legal challenge plays out at the appellate court.

    An order from the Supreme Court late Friday night — signed by liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who presides over the appellate court district — said that “an administrative stay is required to facilitate the First Circuit’s expeditious resolution of the pendingstay motion.”

    While Cattle Prices have dropped substantially, the price of Boxed Beef has gone up – Therefore, you know that something is “fishy.” We will get to the bottom of it very quickly. If there is criminality, those people responsible will pay a steep price!

    For the last 2 months the live price on beef has been flat a
    @ around $2.35per lb or as expressed in market sheets, $235 per hundred weight. Sometimes a bit higher sometimes a bit lower. A year ago it was $1.89. Today it dropped to $2.30 but that was just market noise. Rule of thumb, double that price and you will have the price of salable beef that the packer paid to the feed lot operator. To that add processing costs and transportation costs
    Boxed beef is the modern way to pack and ship beef. They used to ship whole or half carcasses called swinging beef. Now days they further process the carcass into different cuts and pack each cut into case lots. Briskets in one box, Rib eye in another, Round, chuck and so on. What it basically did was cut out a middleman between the packer and the grocer.
    With boxed beef as opposed to dressed weight beef there is a lot of pounds lost due to excess fat trimmings removed and the removal of bones.
    Also “boxed beef” is another way to say wholesale beef
