Conversation Comes First
Where People Actually Listen
On the Trail Since 2005
Founded in 2005 by journalist Craig Crawford, Trail Mix has been a gathering place for news, commentary, and conversation for more than two decades. Craig’s background includes serving as Washington bureau chief for the Orlando Sentinel, editor-in-chief of The Hotline, and a national television political commentator.
But a host is only part of the story. The people who join in bring their own knowledge, questions, experiences, and humor. We don’t chase clicks; we chase conversations. The comment section isn’t an afterthought here — it’s the whole point.
Politics, With Room for Life
We talk politics and take Democracy seriously. We also talk music, swap recipes, discuss food, and sometimes wander into pure nonsense. A good conversation can travel from a Senate race to what’s for supper. There’s room for both.
Independent and User-Supported
Trail Mix has no ads and no corporate gatekeepers. Reader contributions help keep this space going. Our purpose is to make room for thoughtful discussion, honest disagreement, shared discoveries, and a laugh when we need one.
Pull Up a Chair
Bring your curiosity, your opinions, your favorite song, or a good story. You don’t have to agree with everyone to belong in the conversation. Give others a hearing, challenge ideas, and help make this a place worth returning to.
Join our daily live chats on YouTube, where the conversation happens in real time. Catch up on the news, share what’s on your mind, and see where the talk takes us. There’s always room for another voice.
Pull up a chair. You’re among people who actually listen.
All posts reflect their authors’ views. Commenters speak for themselves.
