I see Google has put back Biden in the list of US Presidents, but I have screenshots to prove it happened. Can’t trust anything anymore. That’s what the n@zis want. Chaos monsters.

I paid $2.83 for a dozen Safeway-brand eggs yesterday. Can’t complain.

Silencing CDC. They’re suppressing information about the bird flu just like they did on COVID, got a million Americans killed.

Being an abusive drunk is one thing but the main thing is that he is totally unqualified for the position. He’s only been nominated for FFF (French Fry Face) to see what he can get away with, a test for his gop toadies.
IN NO WAY QUALIFIED.
DANGEROUS MENACE.
Keep your eyes on the ball, Senators.

Something else to write home about: nieces can’t read their grandmother’s recipes, they have to be transcribed for them.

Also birthdays, they can’t read a handwritten card, I’ve resorted to printing them, or better, texting gifs.

The National Archives needs folks who can read cursive to transcribe documents, if anyone needs a hobby to distract them from our national nightmare.

Adolf is going after the comedians, just like Judy Gold said. It’s like we’re in a terrible game; it’s repeating itself, but we’re a level up. Hitler’s failed insurrection didn’t keep him out of power, nor the Shitler’s attempt. It’s all the same. Marginalizing folks, destroying education, pushing women back into domesticity, ending birthright citizenship and deporting to camps, privatizing everything for the benefit of himself and his oligarchs. It’s all the same and I still can’t get folks to see it.

My late-January resolution is to not say anything more to the family about the new administration & the oligarchs running the show. They know, and I know they know I know. The horse is at the water trough and I’m walking away. Whether it drinks or stubbornly keels over from thirst is beyond me.

Giving the last of the seeds to the birds. Hope none of them are carrying anything.

On Monday, Trump issued an executive order terminating “illegal DEI and ‘diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility’ (DEIA) mandates, policies, programs, preferences, and activities in the Federal Government, under whatever name they appear.”

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) must be next. Compliances cost a lot of money. Crippled people, who needs them?

Craig – that was not me. It was a former co-worker. Several others in departments other than US Dept of Agriculture are being attacked. ACLU is one of the big legal organizations stepping in to the fight. Right now a wrench in the works to stop the execution of the EO is needed.

https://www.firstpost.com/world/trump-fan-milei-detects-woke-cancer-in-davos-declares-musks-hand-gesture-innocent-13855721.html

“Criticising “woke ideology” in a passionate speech at the World Economic Forum, Argentina’s President Javier Milei on Thursday defended the “innocent” hand gesture made by US billionaire Elon Musk this week.”

“The libertarian leader praised Musk and other likeminded leaders such as Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele.”

Yep, that’s just a menu of appetizers. It’s sad that they are sticking with labeling him a “libertarian.”

“Slowly an international alliance has been formed of all those nations that want to be free and that believe in the ideas of freedom,” he was quoted as saying.

Ah, getting the old Axis Powers together, again?

According to comments on the FB-posted version of this Chronicle of Higher Education article, some English professors are getting around AI by requiring in-class writing of essays in longhand. How long before those teachers get fired?

https://www.chronicle.com/article/ai-and-the-death-of-student-writing?

A sampling of thoughts: “We continue to degrade our critical thinking skills and ability to effectively communicate with each other; you know, those things that make us uniquely human.”

“This is why I make students write with pencil and paper in front of my face.”

“I believe it will become an even more specialized skill. We’re handwriting in my classroom.”

And finally: “it’s just a job. Grade it and move on. Get a life.”
(This will be the winning attitude in less than four years.)

https://www.newsweek.com/equal-employment-opportunity-act-donald-trump-2019538

“Since 1965, the Equal Employment Opportunity Act has helped protect workers from being treated unfairly because of their race, gender, religion, or national origin. Trump’s new order, signed on January 21, 2025, eliminates many of these rules.”

So, women can be fired for being pregnant, or just not hired because employers think they might (or should) have kids.

“President Donald Trump’s new Justice Department leadership has put a freeze on civil rights litigation and suggested it may reconsider police reform agreements negotiated by the Biden administration, according to two memos obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press.”

“Attorneys in the department’s Civil Rights Division were ordered not to file any new complaints, amicus briefs or other certain court papers “until further notice,” one of the memos said.”

“Another memo directed attorneys to notify leadership of any settlements or consent decrees — court-enforceable agreements to reform police agencies — that were finalized by the Biden administration within the last 90 days.”

“It said the new administration “may wish to reconsider” such agreements, raising the prospect that it may abandon two consent decrees finalized in the final weeks of the Biden administration in Louisville, Kentucky, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.”

The president moved to end diversity, equity and inclusion programs throughout the federal government with a flurry of executive orders, upending decades of policy.

on the J6 arrest.
They were just waiting, there are so many convoluted laws around gun possession.
Back in the old neighborhood we had a gang war problem. 2 gang leaders got in a fight about a girl. The idiot kid across the street was involved and got his mother’s house shot up by a drive by.
The police arrested him om a gun charge. while he was out on bail he was stopped and had a gun on him. It was an automatic 5 years. Federal charges.

I am reminded of back in the Reagan days. When they invaded Grenada one of the political appointees ordered no women were to be part of the operation. It didn’t work as they quickly found out women were an important part of the support for combat personnel.
Trumps people will find out the same thing I suspect. Especially when numerous pissed off coworkers start “working to rule” .

Grandma’s cake recipe.
Most of her grandchildren have this one committed to memory.
The chant starts like this.
Cup of sugar
Cup of cream
cup and a half of flour
1 egg 2 if you have them
2 teaspoons of baking powder
teaspoon of vanilla
half teaspoon salt.
Combine the dry ingredients sift, add egg cream stir put in a greased pan bake until done.

This is the basic cake, but you can play with it.

If you want a chocolate cake substitute a quarter cup of coco for same amount of flour.
Spice cake add tablespoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon cloves, one teaspoon allspice.
Gingerbread, add 1/4 cup dark molasses tablespoon of cinnamon, Tablespoon of ginger (you may want to reduce this as I really like ginger).
This is a great cake to play with, add dried fruit, nuts if you want too.

A Freelance Vigilante: A wilderness survival trainer spent years undercover, climbing the ranks of right-wing militias. He didn’t tell police or the FBI. He didn’t tell his family or friends. The Future of Militias: He penetrated a new generation of militia leaders, which included doctors and government attorneys. Experts say that militias could have a renaissance under Donald Trump.A Secret Trove: He sent ProPublica a massive trove of documents. The conversations that he secretly recorded give a unique, startling window into the militia movement.

“Militias tend to prize law enforcement ties; during an armed operation, it could be useful to have police see you as a friend. But there was also an Ohio OB-GYN on the national board of directors — he used to work for the Cleveland Clinic, I discovered, and now led a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group.”
