ok back to the previous thread for the rewatch, her facial expressions are so effing effective, no joke

ok the line that pushed him over the brink was “people leave his rallies in boredom”, meltdown began right there (30-31min mark)

45 min mark is meltdown stage 2, set-off by Harris calling out his inherited wealth, features his soon to be famous “solar farm” riff

Her facial expression immediately after that needs to be the Shepard Fairey poster

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-demands-republicans-government-shutdown-voting-citizenship-1235099381/

“On Tuesday, former President Donald Trumpdemanded that “If Republicans in the House, and Senate, don’t get absolute assurances on Election Security, THEY SHOULD, IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, GO FORWARD WITH A CONTINUING RESOLUTION ON THE BUDGET.”

“Amid his preemptive efforts to sow doubt about the election, Trump is demanding that Republicans secure passage of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), or shut down the federal government. The SAVE Act, which passed a vote in the House in July but has not been taken up by the Senate, would require Americans to provide documented proof of citizenship — such as a passport or birth certificate — in order to register to vote.”

Tell me he knows he’s going to lose with telling me he knows. He’s telling MAGAt Mike & comrades to shut down the government. I wonder if they realized their political goose is cooked by association?

WaPo’s early feed:

Debate night started with an awkward handshake and ended with an endorsement by self-dubbed “Childless Cat Lady” Taylor Swift.
The first debate betweenVice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump was the latest high point for Harris in her seven-week-old campaign — and quite a contrast to the previous presidential debate, which saw President Joe Bidengive a shaky performance that led to calls for him to end his reelection Republicans are fretting that Trump missed a moment and let Harris get to him. Meanwhile, Democrats are thrilled at Harris’s performance.
“Slay,” is how one Democratic official responded when asked how Harris performed.
The stakes were higher for Harris. Trump is a known quantity, while 28 percent of likely voters said they felt they needed to learn more about Harris, according to aNew York Times–Siena Collegepollconducted last week. The debate was her best opportunity to show the American people who she is — and to remind voters who Trump is.
Harris’s strategy was to get under Trump’s skin, a campaign official said, and she did that. A few examples:

She said people leave his rallies early “out of exhaustion and boredom.”
She said military leaders have told her he’s a “disgrace.”
She said 81 million people fired him and “he is having a very difficult time processing.”
She saidRussian PresidentVladimir Putinwould “eat you for lunch.”

It appeared to throw Trump off his game.
“She clearly got under his skin,” Marc Short, a former top adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, told us. “He looks angry and not focused on winning topics of border and the economy.

More from the WaPo article:

But he gave few specifics about his own plans, instead pitching a second Trump term as a return to his first.
Trump said he would replace the Affordable Care Act “if” he could find a plan that is better. When asked by moderator Linsey Davisif he has a plan, he said he has “concepts of a plan” that he’ll reveal “in the not-too-distant future.” (Trump has been promising details of a health-care plan since he started running for president in 2015.)
The most substantive policy exchange of the night was on abortion.
Trump, who has been all over the map on the issue, praised the “genius” and “strength” of the six Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022 and “were able to get it to the states.”
Trump said he supports exceptions for rape and incest and said “there’s no reason” to sign into law a national abortion ban because “we’ve gotten what everybody wanted.” (He also said that his running mate, Sen. JD Vance(R-Ohio), was wrong when he said Trump would veto a national abortion ban and that they never talked about it.)
Harris gave a passionate defense for reinstating Roe.
“I pledge to you, when Congress passes a bill to put back in place the protections of Roe v Wade, as president of the United States, I will proudly sign it into law,” she said.

Ya know somewhere in J D Vance’s Ivy league education you would have thought his 2 brain cells would have learned to rub together.  Having lived in an immigrant community for 30 years I’m well aware of the ” immigrants eat cats” trope. It used to be applied to the Vietnamese community. I suspect the Republicans lost a significant share of the Vietnamese vote last night. I am just totally gob smacked at the stupidity of major Republican political candidates believing it is a good thing to use such language. To say it in a national forum.
If you are a Republican, this is your party. This isn’t some fringe candidate who is going to get 20 votes. This is Ted Cruz, JD Vance, Donald Trump and those are just the ones that came into my view yesterday.  If you vote Republican in this election that is you, this is your party and you hug it and embrace it.
This isn’t right, left, this is basic morals.

JD Vance is narcissistically going in the wrong direction mentally, physically and spiritually for someone who so desperately needs a program of recovery by virtue of his upbringing. Ivy League is not a “program.”  Again, leadership in the wrong direction for a group of our people who need the opposite.
He should be reading Mary Trump’s books instead of his own.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/11/politics/gop-funding-push-house-vote/index.html

“In a message that could make the government funding effort even more complicated for Republicans, Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday, “If Republicans in the House, and Senate, don’t get absolute assurances on Election Security, THEY SHOULD, IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, GO FORWARD WITH A CONTINUING RESOLUTION ON THE BUDGET.”

”Johnson emphasized agreement with Trump on government funding in response, telling CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead” Tuesday, “I think President Trump is saying exactly what I have been saying, and that is we need assurances on election security and to fund the government.”

MAGAt Mike is doing the lowerd’s work, again, sewing the weeds of distrust;  bearing false witness against a system which has been proven to be secure, and where the few false votes out of millions were mostly Republican.

MAGAt Mike is conveniently ignoring the real problem with fair elections; folks being purged from voter roles, gerrymandering, increasing documentation hurdles, reducing the number of polling places and making it harder to mail in ballots. MAGAt Mike is a lying, Russian tool, and he’s certainly not an actual Christian.

As if we need more examples of Donald Trump exploiting the private grief of mourners for his personal gain.

Early in the presidential debate on Tuesday, Donald J. Trump invoked a town in Ohio to disparage immigrants and denounce Kamala Harris.
“You look at Springfield, Ohio,” Mr. Trump said. “You look at Aurora in Colorado. They are taking over the towns. They’re taking over buildings. They’re going in violently. These are the people that she and Biden led into our country, and they’re destroying our country. They’re dangerous. They’re at the highest level of criminality.”
Barely an hour before the debate, in Springfield, the father of an 11-year-old boy killed when an immigrant’s minivan crashed into a school bus, lashed out at Mr. Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, calling them “morally bankrupt” politicians spreading hate at the expense of his son, Aiden.
Speaking during public comment at a regular meeting of the Springfield City Commission, the father, Nathan Clark, said, “This needs to stop now.”

Meanwhile, trump only emanates gibberish, to imply there is any cogent policy grasp by him is just bad-faith journalism

Chickenshit a la king. WaPo.

“Under the bright lights, the American people got to see the choice they will face this fall at the ballot box: between moving forward with Kamala Harris, or going backwards with Trump,” Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement after Tuesday night’s debate hosted by ABC News. “That’s what they saw tonight and what they should see at a second debate in October. Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is Donald Trump?”

In the spin room in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, Trump repeatedly told reporters that Harris would likely want a redo because he claimed she performed poorly.

“We’ll look at it, but they want a second debate because they lost,” Trump said.

By Wednesday morning, however, Trump told the hosts of “Fox & Friends” that he was leaning against debating Harris a second time.

“When you win the debate, I don’t know that I want to do another debate,” Trump said, prompting host Steve Doocy to observe, “It sounds like you’re a no.”

“Well I’d be less inclined to,” Trump said, again claiming he had a “great night” — though many Republicans felt he allowed Harris to stay on the attack.

Doocy said Fox News proposed several more debate dates in October to the Trump and Harris teams Tuesday night, moderated by the network’s Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.

Trump interrupted to say he’d rather not have Baier and MacCallum and would prefer someone like “Sean, Jesse or Laura” — apparently referencing Sean Hannity, Jesse Watters and Laura Ingraham.

“I didn’t think Martha and Brett were good last night … Jesse was fantastic last night, what he said,” Trump said. “Jesse really got it. Jesse said Trump won that debate.”

In a social media post Wednesday afternoon, Trump claimed that Harris was “beaten badly last night” and asked, “why would I do a Rematch?” Meanwhile, Harris’s campaign posted an ad Wednesday that was simply footage of Tuesday’s entire debate.

Oh, waiter, I want some of what he’s smoking.

The lock-up restrictions preventing Trump from selling his 114.75 million shares in Trump Media are set to expire later this month.”

“The lifting of the lock-up agreement will free Trump to sell some shares, but experts say it would be almost impossible for the former president to quickly unload most or all of his stake without tanking the share price.”

There’s something very wrong with these undecided voters if they still can’t figure out Donald Trump has never done an effing thing for them and isn’t about to start now.

Bob and Sharon Reed, both 77-year-old retired teachers who live on a farm in central Pennsylvania, had high hopes for the debate between Ms. Harris and former President Donald Trump. They thought that they would come away with a candidate to support in November.
But, Ms. Reed said, “It was all disappointing.”
The couple ended the night wondering how the costly programs each candidate supported — Mr. Trump’s tariffs and Ms. Harris’s aid to young families and small businesses — would help a couple like them, living on a fixed income that has not kept pace with inflation. They said they didn’t hear detailed answers on immigration or foreign policy, either.

Yes, there was a shit load of money injected in 2020 to keep the economy from crashing, but then a bunch of people up and died, ending their economic windfalls.

Keilah Miller, 34, who lives in Milwaukee, grew intrigued by Ms. Harris too. Ms. Miller said she had voted Democratic in past presidential elections but decided to stop voting altogether about a year ago. Her own situation, and that of other Black women in Milwaukee, had not improved, she said.
On Tuesday, she felt nudged unexpectedly toward Mr. Trump.
“Trump’s pitch was a little more convincing than hers,” Ms. Miller said. “I guess I’m leaning more on his facts than her vision.”
Ms. Miller said that, while her heart pulls her to Ms. Harris’s potentially history-making candidacy, she finds herself thinking fondly of her old life.
“When Trump was in office — not going to lie — I was living way better,” she said. “I’ve never been so down as in the past four years. It’s been so hard for me.”

tRUMPsky did not give them those stimulus checks.  He did try to kill ACA repeatedly, and take the hatchet to Social Security and Medicare every year.
Folks are uninformed and/or misremembering, but the stressors they are feeling now are real.
I said something needed to be done about grocery prices two years ago.  For folks in the flyover, relief has not come like it sorta-kinda did in the suburbs of big cities.  Rents have been too high for years, but now it’s insane.
Inflation was never inflation this time around.  It was a money grab by corporations who have zero accountability to their customers or employees.  The messsging in that needs to be stronger from Harris/Walz, as well as any relief Biden/Harris can give us now.
Project 2025 is real.  Kill it at the voting booth.

Yeah, nothing says “man of the people” like a gold crapper.  JD is out of touch. Sniveling Russian tool.

The federal government will dramatically increase security protections for the joint session of Congress where lawmakers count states’ electoral votes, an escalation of government-wide efforts to prevent a repeat of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, the Secret Service said Wednesday in a statement provided to The Washington Post.

The Department of Homeland Security has designated the next electoral count — scheduled for Jan. 6, 2025 — a National Special Security Event, giving the once-routine post-election gathering the same level of security accorded to presidential inaugurations and political conventions, the Secret Service, which will take over security for the count, confirmed.

Assistance programs are the only tenable solution at the Federal level to food insecurity due to high grocery prices

The only way that’s happening is a blue wave, so GOTV

Biden’s FTC is actively
opposing monopolistic practices in the grocery industry and pursuing illegal price-fixers, they are doing something

It’s true she will have a hard time accomplishing her agenda without a Congress, therefore, we have to get her an effing Congress.

The price fixing is everywhere. Darned algorithms. Data mining is a very profitable business. It’s everywhere. Rent, hotel rates, surge pricing on ride shares, and now your grocery store shelves.
