The problem with this task is that there is no way to make everyone happy. It will have a huge impact in future elections, whether she or Joe are at the top of the ticket. Joe helped Obama with ACA. This is Kamala’s ACA moment.
I have faith in her, but it’s a thankless task because there are so many moving parts that folks see as all-or-nothing.
At the heart of the problem is drugs. As long as the US users of the really hard ones are profitable, the criminals supplying them will continue to destroy their countries and their inhabitants to keep raking in the cash.
Is it worth trying decriminalization to remove the profit motive from the opiates or given our gun situation and lack of real medical care just asking for more trouble.
The majority of these immigrants are absolutely no threat other than too many human beings. We can’t take in the world and of course we come back to the world having too many people, most of them poor with nowhere to go for relief.
The only thing different about those on our Southern border is that they are closer than the
wonder if we could talk mexico & mesoamerica into becoming states and swap all those who travel north with the retirees and snow birds that flock to the south who are running out of downtrodden places to gentrify, rural pastures to pave over and deserts to turn into mowed lawns & golf courses.

A lot of them are already camping out gentrifying and over populating Baja California. When I visited there regularly in the late 70s, it was a small enclave at Rosarita Beach and then miles of land from there to Ensenada. Now it looks like a suburb of San Diego all the way to Cabo.

media also seem to be working overtime to gin up intra as well as inter party feuds. they got spoiled by the other guy’s non-stop chaos and now they have to think for themselves or read up on boring complex details for their next story.

He created a sensation in radio there and soon left for DC, where he was lost to us.

Florida finally lowered the age to 50 and above. I got my first Moderna shot in Lake Mary today. Crazy Publix system. I live in New Smyrna Beach yet can’t go to my local Publix. Oh well, so glad to be on my way to being fully vaccinated soon :0).
Today is National Medal of Honor Day. I have met and known a couple of Medal of Honor recipients while they were living . They were good men, both have died years ago. One received his during WWII the other Vietnam. One was wild and lived bar to bar (all paid for so we drank very well). The other was very quiet and stayed to himself. Just like everybody else in the world, except they did impossible acts in combat.

Both of the President and first lady’s dogs, Major and Champ, have returned to the White House after spending some time in Delaware following a biting incident involving Major, according to Jill Biden’s press secretary Michael LaRosa.
The two German shepherds returned to Washington after Major worked with a trainer at the Bidens’ home in Delaware following the incident at the White House.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Wednesday that the dogs joined the first family at Camp David last weekend and then returned with them to the White House on Sunday.
“The dogs will come and go and it will not be uncommon for them to head back to Delaware on occasion as the President and first lady often do as well,” Psaki said at a White House briefing.

I’m still alive and kicking. Gardening season starts here mid March unlike Memorial Day in the north. I’ve been gardening myself into a come to get it all done before the storms hit, and tomorrow I get my second covid shot. I figure I’ll be good for nothing for a few days which is better than being on a ventilator by a long shot.
I’m also disturbed lately. I know Matt Taibbi and David Cay Johnston. But why have I never heard of Chris Hedges? A whole new world of layers of politics have suddenly come to my attention. And I thought I’ve been in the political weeds since 1968. So I’m disturbed. I’m going to read his book America: The Farewell Tour.
I really hate this working shit. Don’t have time to screw around on the blog. Hell, didn’t even get the chance to read WaPo until now. No rest for the wicked….
