David Horsey’s Trump diplomacy: Carry a big stick and drag your knuckles | The Seattle Times

On Saturday, the conservative Wall Street Journal editorial board published a damning editorial that called President Donald Trump’s threat of imposing 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico “The dumbest trade war in history.”

At the same time, the stock market began to droop because of fears that Trump’s loony tariffs would drive up inflation, devastate the homebuilding and auto industries, slam American farmers who export their products and imperil a significant share of the country’s food supply that comes from these two friendly countries.

Maybe Trump got it through his thick skull that this was a really bad idea because, on Monday, he put a 30-day hold on the tariffs. And, of course, he claimed a big victory because both Mexico and Canada said they would increase efforts to curtail fentanyl traffic across both the northern and southern borders (commitments that they had already announced under the Biden administration, by the way). Trump had also asserted that the current trade agreement with our two nearest neighbors absolutely had to be changed because it was a terrible deal — without noting that the deal was negotiated with great fanfare and boasting by none other than Trump during his first term in the White House.

Trump not only has a remarkable ability to forget history and manufacture facts, but he clearly thinks speaking very loudly and wildly swinging a big stick is a brilliant way to conduct foreign policy. Certainly, that is a way to get people’s attention — and Trump loves nothing more than attention — but it is not a method to win hearts and minds.

In just two weeks, Trump has reminded the world that he is a crude bully who will conduct foreign policy based on his own erratic impulses and an undependable ally with no respect for international agreements. Add the dumb trade war to Trump’s growing list of follies — the gutting of foreign aid, the decimation of the FBI, the absurd appointment of Pete Hegseth as defense secretary, the nomination of Russia fan Tulsi Gabbard to oversee U.S. intelligence agencies — and it is easy to deduce that America’s national security is now in the hands of idiots.

myself, always liked this one which would be right in line with today’s magas

I’d like to do a song of great social and political import

It goes like this

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends

Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends

So, oh, Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV?

Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me

I wait for delivery each day until three

So, oh, Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV?

Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me a night on the town?

I’m counting on you Lord, please don’t let me down

Prove that you love me and buy the next round

Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me a night on the town?

Everybody

Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends

Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends

So, oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

That’s it

Big Mama Thornton
“Ball and Chain” (also “Ball ‘n’ Chain” or “Ball & Chain”) is a blues song written and recorded by American blues artist Big Mama Thornton. Although her recording did not appear on the record charts, the song has become one of Thornton’s best-known, largely due to performances and recordings by Janis Joplin.

Not much of a Maureen-fan, but I’ve been saying it for a while, they’ll keep him in office forever as a hologram.

When Trump turns 80, as a birthday present, Elon and the lost boys could create an A.I.-fueled Trump bot, a real-time video head trained on his news conferences and everything he has ever tweeted.

Jaron Lanier, the father of virtual reality, slyly says that Trump would be “an unusually easy person to plausibly fake.”

“Gradually it’ll be normalized,” Lanier told me. “People will get used to it more and more, and then it’ll actually start to be treated as the president. If you look at it on your phone or your computer, it would look just like him. The underlying software could be presented as a hologram onstage. It might even run in the next election. And they’ll go to the Supreme Court and say, ‘We know that the president can only have two terms, but this isn’t really the president. This is the Trump bot and A.I.s are people, too.’ Essentially allowing a continuation of the same administration into a third term.”

“Elon Musk has called for U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer, who temporarily blocked the Department of Government Efficiency’s(DOGE) access to sensitive Treasury records on Saturday, to be impeached.”

“U.S. District Judge Engelmayer issued a preliminary injunction barring Musk and his DOGE team from accessing the personal financial data of millions of Americans in Treasury Department records. He also ordered the DOGE to destroy any they might already have obtained since January 20.”

“Additionally, the judge stated that Treasury records from the Bureau of Fiscal Services can only be accessed by specialized civil servants who need them as part of their jobs. The Trump administration cannot grant access to political appointees, special government employees, or those outside the Treasury—including Musk.”

Theater of the absurd, but dangerous.

This household is team Chiefs, except that the kicker is a misogynist. Remember when I cursed him and then he was out for several weeks for medical treatment, and then he missed field goals for awhile when he came back? Made me very happy.

Jalen Hurts then made a speech to counter the nastiness of fake-Christen Butker. Jalen also walks the walk. So, I’m OK if he has a great day and the Eagles win, even though it’ll be more pleasant around here if the chiefs win…as long as Butker (who had political ambitions) has a crap game.

“Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer, and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult…. All that was required of them was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working hours or shorter rations. And when they became discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontentment led nowhere, because being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances.”

Even AI knows about checks and balances, JDoof.

Checks and balances is a system that prevents any one part of a government or organization from having too much power. It’s a system of overlapping powers where different parts of the system limit and control each other.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Mountain_Mandate

“The Seven Mountain Mandate is part of dominionism.[12]
The biblical base for the movement is derived from Revelation 17:118, wherein verse 9 reads, “And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains”.[12] The seven areas that the movement believe influence society and that they seek to influence are family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business, and government.[12] They believe that their mission to influence the world through these seven spheres is justified by Isaiah 2:2 “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains.”[7]
By using strategic spiritual warfare, adherents attempt to gain control of the seven mountains by researching and mapping the geographical strongholds of territorial spirits, using prophecyfrom the movement’s prophets to determine the demons’ names and roles, and intercession in which they pray on-site to rid the location or “mountain” of demons.[5]

Prominent followersedit

Michele Bachmann, 2012 Republican presidential primary candidate and U.S. representative for Minnesota’s 6th congressional district from 2007 until 2015.[16]Lauren Boebert, Republican U.S. representative for Colorado’s 3rd congressional district[17]Rafael Cruz, pastor and father of Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas[3]Butch Hartman, American animatorMike Johnson, Republican U.S. representative for Louisiana’s 4th congressional district & Speaker of the House[18]Tom Parker, Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court[18][19]Paula White, spiritual advisor to Donald Trump[4]Andrew Wommack, evangelical leader[20][21]

There’s actually a clip of the grifter and fake Christian, Paula White-Cain, praying for women to have miscarriages if they were carrying “demons.”

These sick fukz need to be aborted from their seats of power

“Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, Who Has a Female Agent, Pushes Back on Harrison Butker’s Speech”

“In the aftermath of Harrison Butker‘s controversial comments during a commencement speech, suggesting women will find their most fulfillment as homemakers, rather than the workforce, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts didn’t mince words in a biting rebuttal of the Kansas City Chiefs kicker’s views.”

“Women are thrusted into positions to have to overcome this, overcome that,” Hurts, said in a video shared via Instagram by The Sports-ish. “And they always do. Yet they lack the respect they deserve. I’m here advocating for it. Not only in football but in every situation. We all know the woman is the rock of everything.”

https://www.thenation.com/article/society/harrison-butker-upright-pac-chiefs-placekicker/

“Chiefs Placekicker Harrison Butker Goes Wide Right and Finds Political Power”
“The Kansas City Chiefs kicker has started a far-right super PAC to encourage conservatives to vote for “traditional Christian values.” He is part of a terrifying political trend.”

“Earlier this year, Butker “very intentionally,” as he put it, announced his “traditional Catholic” views while delivering a commencement address at Benedictine College, a Catholic liberal-arts school in Kansas. Butker chided the women in the audience for their ambition and expressed the trad-Catholic doctrine that their only true happiness would be as a wife and fertile mother.”

”He praised his own wife, Isabella, saying that she would be “the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother” and expressed his joy over the fact that she has embraced “one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”

“Butker, true to his predicable anti-LGBTQ views and staunch anti-abortion activism, also criticized “liberal Catholic leaders,” whom he faults with “pushing dangerous gender ideologies onto the youth of America.” He also attacked the “tyranny of diversity, equity, and inclusion” and cried out against “things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for degenerate cultural values and media,” which supposedly “all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder.”

“Targeting the male graduates, Butker told them to “be unapologetic in your masculinity,” and to “fight against the cultural emasculation of men.” Happy graduation, everyone!”

https://tribunecontentagency.com/article/mary-sanchez-harrison-butkers-tantrum-against-catholicism/

“Opus Dei, which is Latin for “work of God,” is a century-old arm of the Catholic church, whose harshest critics have long tried to label it a cult, tracing early adherents to fascist dictators.”

“This is the backstory that’s gone curiously untold about Butker, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, when he was invited to give a commencement speech to graduates at Benedictine College, a small Catholic school in Atchison, Kansas.”

“Few people likely caught the nods to Opus Dei that Butker made in his speech. But he made specific and repeated references to Opus Dei, citing Josemaría Escrivá, the Spanish priest who started the organization in 1928.”

“Now a saint, Escrivá’s beliefs were elevated in the faith in 1982 when Pope John Paul II made Opus Dei a personal prelature, meaning the organization’s leadership reported directly to him.”

“There are about 85,000 Opus Dei members worldwide. But only about 2 percent of priests globally are part of the organization.”

“Butker appears to be among the 3,000 Opus Dei adherents in the U.S. It’s hard to know for sure as its membership is shrouded in secrecy.”

Shrouded in secrecy because these boys are so proud of being members?

Most pennies produced by the U.S. Mint are given out as change but never spent; this creates an incessant demand for new pennies to replace them, so that cash transactions that necessitate pennies (i.e., any concluding with a sum whose final digit is 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 or 9) can be settled. Because these replacement pennies will themselves not be spent, they will need to be replaced with new pennies that will also not be spent, and so will have to be replaced with new pennies that will not be spent, which will have to be replaced by new pennies (that will not be spent, and so will have to be replaced). In other words, we keep minting pennies because no one uses the pennies we mint.
