Sunday Serendipity

While trying to get in the Christmas mood, I ran across this Sarah Vaughn number. It makes winter sound interesting. In addition is the Christmas Jazz playlist that I posted last year that has a number of jazz standards for the holidays.

Enjoy, Jack

Trump really doubled down on racist anti-immigrant rhetoric yesterday in New Hampshire speech. CNN had a good segment examining what it is really about:

“This is fascist rhetoric. The worries about polluting the blood of the superior race were a standard of Nazism. It’s not just the Nazis it’s also fascist Italy. Mussolini literally talked about killing rats to go back to Trump’s “vermin” language.”

— New York University Prof. Ruth Ben-Chiat, author of “Strongmen: Mussolini To The Present”

More Ben-Chiat: “Dehumanizing immigrants, which is what his language does, is a way to get Americans prepared now to accept repressions later on .”

In that CNN segment political analyst Ron Brownstein noted that Trump’s immigrant focus is a loser at the ballot box: “There is a substantial audience that has been mobilized in three consecutive elections to prevent Trump’s vision from being implemented. Most Americans have shown they are not willing to empower someone who is talking so explicitly, echoing fascist leaders from the darkest moments of the 20th century.”

The SNL cold open was…not sure…must just be too old here to get it, but then this world is no longer all about us. It was great to see Kate McKinnon, Maya Rudolph, and Kristen Wiig. Billie Eilish was mesmerizing to watch as she always is.

“More Ben-Chiat: “Dehumanizing immigrants, which is what his language does, is a way to get Americans prepared now to accept repressions later on .”

Not just repressions. Atrocities. Crematoriums is all he’s got left to promise to build.

Is Trump pushing his followers to become the pigs of MAUS

Maus: A Survivor’s Tale, is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman, serialized from 1980 to 1991. It depicts Spiegelman interviewing his father about his experiences as a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. The work represents Jews as mice and other Germans and Poles as cats and pigs respectively.

I am trying to control my little happiness I get when sfb gets his flab in the render machine.  The russian binder going missing is just the start.  It is sounding like the IC is getting ready to surround the big fat bastard in treason.  You did not hear that here.

Sturg, Willie and George Strait are doing Townes’ Pancho & Lefty  Doing a great song justice IMHO. 🎶 All the Federales say they coulda had him any day. They only let him slip away out of kindness I suppose …🎶 Good fucking song.

There is no Dr. Hattie Davis; that was part of the gag.  Colin & Michael Che do this every year, where they write jokes to make the other one uncomfortable.  They don’t read the jokes ahead of time. Colin finally made Che squirm this year.

https://screenrant.com/snl-weekend-update-joke-swap-hattie-davis-person-real-fake/

The thing that probably made some squirm for the wrong reason was the Lilith Faire-esque song, “Tampon Farm.”   It was the end of the video where the tampon farm was “condemned” that was the real point.  SCOTUS condemned it by overturning Roe.  Perpetually pregnant woman won’t need tampons, and women are condemned by the loss of their human rights.
Catchy tune, though.

Townes liked to refer to “Pancho and Lefty” as his “commercial song”.
