Judge reinstates gag order in Donald Trump’s federal election interference case | Donald Trump | The Guardian

Donald Trump was once again bound by the gag order in the federal criminal case charging him with conspiring to overturn the 2020 election results, after a judge on Sunday reinstated restrictions prohibiting him from attacking prosecutors, court staff and potential trial witnesses.

The US district judge Tanya Chutkan also denied the former US president’s request to suspend the gag order indefinitely while his lawyers appealed.

Trump had been granted a reprieve when the judge temporarily lifted the gag order while she considered that request. Prosecutors argued last week that the order should be reimposed after Trump took advantage and posted a slew of inflammatory statements.

The statements included Trump’s repeated attacks on the special counsel Jack Smith, whom he called “deranged”, and Trump’s comments about the testimony that his former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows had provided to the grand jury during the criminal investigation.

Pumpkin Head responds to judge reinstating gag order:

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
I have just learned that the very Biased, Trump Hating Judge in D.C., who should have RECUSED herself due to her blatant and open loathing of your favorite President, ME, has reimposed a GAG ORDER which will put me at a disadvantage against my prosecutorial and political opponents. This order, according to many legal scholars, is unthinkable! It illegally and unconstitutionally takes away my First Amendment Right of Free Speech, in the middle of my campaign for President, where I am leading against BOTH Parties in the Polls. Few can believe this is happening, but I will appeal. How can they tell the leading candidate that he, and only he, is seriously restricted from campaigning in a free and open manner? It will not stand!

Johnson’s office has tried to clarify this black son issue and why he isn’t in family photos: “When Speaker Johnson first ran for Congress in 2016, he and his wife, Kelly, spoke to their son Michael—who they took in as newlyweds when Michael was 14 years old,” said Corinne Day, Johnson’s communications director, in a statement. “At the time of the Speaker’s election to Congress, Michael was an adult with a family of his own. He asked not to be involved in their new public life.” Day added that Johnson “maintains a close relationship with Michael to this day.” The Johnson family did not formally adopt Michael because of the “lengthy process,” according to the statement. His office declined to say whether Michael used the same surname as the family.

I’m good with left-right, it’s “port-starboard” I had trouble with until it came to me that port and left are both 4-letter words.

George Conway on why Trump micro-managing defense in NY trial (he and kids all testify this week): “This puts him out of business. This case is putting him out of business. And that’s his essence. And I think that he’s just he’s terrified he’s not going to have the Trump Tower, and he’s not going to have all the things that he has bragged about for decades, for six decades. That’s going to be gone, and he won’t be able to run a business, and the question is how much money is he going to be allowed to keep? To him that is striking at the core of Donald Trump?” (MSNBC)

What a footnote in History.

Russia was long term grooming him, but then the opportunity actually arose when he got laughed at by a black man. Using the exquisite jokes of Apatow. Then after that Russia whispered in his ear and pulled the trigger. Thusly was he propelled into the presidency.

If there is One Thing which makes him writhe inside—it’s when “they” are laughing at him.  Especially when “they” are being led by a Black Man.

It’s all very sad. Banal.
Short Story Collection of the Month:
WINNER TAKE NOTHING, by E. Hemingway. The little wooden boy who wanted to be a Real Writer when he grew up. He made it, but at what cost?

If I could talk to young Ernest I would tell him, “Ernest……chill out, man. Go to that nice little State College down in Mattoon, take up animal husbandry or something , marry a nice young lady and have a dozen kids to take care of you when you start to to fall off the toilet.”

Nevertheless, I was really happy when I found his books. I think I’ve read every thing he ever published, and my favorite of them all, (and also Non-Fiction Pick of the Month 3 years ago ),
DEATH IN THE AFTERNOON.

I came away from that book with a thorough understanding of the Corrida de Toros. He was good at describing things.

The Johnson family did not formally adopt Michael because of the “lengthy process,” according to the statement.

Don’t know about Johnson’s neck of the woods, but if the kid was eligible for adoption the process is not a lengthy one, at least not here.

Sturge, that’s how I got the port/starboard stuff figured out as well.

Poobah,  Conway went on and mentioned that if the trial turns out as a large verdict against him, he won’t have the cash to satisfy it, and to appeal he’d have to post a bond in the amount of the judgment and “Who would loan him money” if that was the outcome?  Good point.

And I’m wondering whether there will be a family dinner for Dumbass and his 3 older kids Wednesday to “catch up”…

I understand why a lot of people who do not go on boats or planes frequently are confused as to the P-S use.  A couple of days onboard a boat and they soon get the hang of it.  Along with that goes the Bow-Stern, not front or back.  There are reasons.

Just got back after four days onboard my big boat.  All went great.  I get home last night, look in the refrigerator for a little something for late snack, spot a bag of chicken thighs I cooked – I now know I did cook them, but two weeks ago.  Today, starting around midnight, has not been a great day.  Soup helps, so does a lot of water.

Another clip played on Morning Joe was Bill Barr saying about Donald Trump, “something happened to him in childhood.” However, Barr says he doesn’t want to “psychoanalyze him.”

Why the hell not? “Psychoanalyzing” the former Psycho-in-Chief is exactly what we all need to be doing now. He has a progressive mental illness and he’s obviously getting worse by the day.

Barr was just fine and dandy with “really really crazy” but “absolutely insane” was just a bridge too far.

Seems like there would be plenty of people around who have a good idea or two about what happened to him in his childhood. Probably some heavy-duty industrial strength Sigmund Freud shit.

I recall comments made during the 2016 campaign that “Trump’s Kids” were his one redeeming quality. It was Hillary’s reply to a debate question if there was anything she liked about him, and others I heard agreed they were “good kids” (Nicolle Wallace, that was you.)

Well, either it wasn’t true then, or it’s evidence now of his ongoing powers to corrupt everything and everyone he touches.

Just early voted.  I was one of only three during my brief time there.

As C’Bob would say, fasten your chinstraps. This may look like oversight, but it also paved the way for AI to take over all areas of our lives with the government’s blessing.   Glad I’m not younger and hope I’m gone before it really hits the fan.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/29/politics/mike-johnson-israel-aid-house/index.html

“House Speaker Mike Johnson vowed on Sunday to move forward with a $14.5 billion aid package for Israel when the House returns later this week…”

“Johnson’s decision to move a standalone funding bill for Israel, which he told members would be fully paid for, and detach it from Ukraine aid will tee up a showdown with the Democratic-controlled Senate and White House, which prefer to link the two issues, given Ukraine aid on its own faces an uncertain path in the GOP-led House.”

MAGAt Mike must be Putin’s favorite, new tool.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/30/politics/biden-netanyahu-aid-gaza/index.html

“Biden pressed Netanyahu to get more humanitarian aid into Gaza as fears grow over conflict escalating”

“On Monday, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told CNN’s Poppy Harlow that short, localized humanitarian pauses in the fighting should “be seriously considered.”

“We’re working on this very, very hard to try to get that aid and assistance in there. But Israel is not deliberately trying to kill civilians. They are going after Hamas. We want to make sure they do it in a cautious, careful, deliberate way. But it is not a war aim of Israel to kill innocent civilians the way it is a war aim of Vladimir Putin to do that to Ukraine.”

A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: The Biden Campaign slogan should literally be “MY OLD MAN CAN BEAT UP YOUR OLD MAN.”
It is the most remarkable, unexpected, startling, counter-intuitive polling data I have ever seen: The future of democracy. The future of the prosecution of Trump. The future of the nation. The future of planetary climate. It may depend on convincing voters NOT that Joe Biden is somehow NOT TOO old but on convincing voters that he and Trump are BOTH TOO OLD. New polling shows 43 percent of Americans BELIEVE they’re BOTH too old and they plan to vote as follows:
Biden 61% Trump 13%
In Pennsylvania it’s Biden 66% Trump 11%! If they’re BOTH too old – Biden wins in a landslide. Just growing the percentage IN Pennsylvania who believe they’re both too old by FIVE percent would flip 110-thousand Trump votes TO BIDEN. And helpfully Trump is not only acting old, he’s acting demented. In the last 48 hours he hasn’t known WHERE he was, nor what YEAR it was, and even The New York Times is writing about it.
Meanwhile, in a Washington courtroom, we had what one observer called a “proxy battle” for what might happen when Trump truly violates the newly-reinstated gag order. A J6 defendant freed while awaiting sentencing began to send violent, racist, homophobic, antisemitic texts to an FBI agent involved in his case, AND threatened to doxx him. The Judge had no problem cancelling his release and sending him directly to jail to await sentencing (the problem arose when he tried to resist the handcuffs and nearly took down four security officers).
