Senate Republicans on Monday blocked a bill that would fund the government, provide billions of dollars in hurricane relief and stave off a default in U.S. debts, part of the party’s renewed campaign to undermine President Biden’s broader economic agenda.
The GOP’s opposition dealt a death blow to the measure, which had passed the House last week, and now adds to the pressure on Democrats to devise their own path forward ahead of urgent fiscal deadlines. A failure to address the issues could cause severe financial calamity, the White House has warned, potentially plunging the United States into another recession.
The most urgent deadline is midnight Thursday, at which point Congress must adopt a measure to fund the government or some federal agencies and operations will shutter starting Friday morning. And lawmakers also must act before mid-October to raise the debt ceiling, or they could risk a first-ever default, potentially destabilizing global markets.

Like the Dylan rewrite. Love the fart poster. And yeah, roads, bridges, cell coverage and WiFi here suck and people, including FG worshippers want that shit fixed.
Back in the late 80’s early 90’s I worked as a “Youth worker” at the county juvenile lockup. It was in the middle of the “crack epidemic” and was a crazy time. Not just in the urban “ghetto” but everywhere. Crime was high and people did some weird shit. MY co-workers who had years of experience said they had never seen it like this. It was a crazy generation.
My point is this generation are in their 40’s and 50’s, they are running the world and this generation is still batshit crazy.
The worlds only hope is that they die early and the next generation takes over, they can’t be any worse.
Fortunately, as an old f—k, I’ve got a little money and a place to hide, i’m going to ground.
PS: one thing about using everclear as a hand sanitizer, it makes a kickass substitute in a white russian. Fortunately for me some part of my brain hid the bottle so I can’t make the second one.
Just think of me as the “dude” on steroids

AFC suggests that teaching children about things like racism is “progressive indoctrination” that “has worked to actively undermine pride in America’s great history and is actively hostile to the civic and cultural assimilation necessary for a strong nation.” (We assume an acceptable curriculum would involve teaching kids that African people wanted to get on those ships, and that Native Americans don’t actually have a claim to the land that was stolen from them.)
When I ran out to pick up lunch I was listening to some of the questioning in the Senate of Milley, et al. Every so often I like to get a graphic reminder of how much assholes Marsha Blackburn and Josh Hawley are. Got my quota for a while.
Oh, and praise the lord and pass the potatoes – booster scheduled for Thursday.
I’ve enjoyed the Townes cuts posted here over the past couple years or so, and Dead Flowers is one I particularly enjoy. IMHO it beats shit out of the Stones’ version.

I agree about Townes and I enjoy Sturges back story on dead flowers. It is what I miss most about Patsi. the back stories to some of my favorite songs.

The Phrase in this song, “I’m going to smoke a cigarette that is nine miles long” appealed to my sister an ex smoker an been so for 40 years but she said “yes heaven has to include that” Makes me glad I never got addicted to nicotine.
Jr had it tough coming up…..put on the little Hank suit and get out there with the Hanksongs kid…..there’s money to be made ova heah…….but I saw him in a club oncet out on the savannah hwy…..big Hank bus taking up the whole parking lot…..yeah he and his crew was in there playing. I saw jr take a turn on every instrument on stage and kick it in the ass with every one of them…….steel, piano, guitar, bass. drum. dobro…….cat could play his ass off. So anyway he finally takes a break and sits at a table with 3 friends. The crowd gathered around that table like flies on dog dirt. Hank hank hank hank hank…..they were all hollering at him. He couldnt get no relief. They even followed him into the bathroom and was yelling hank at him while he was taking a leak……so, anyway, he goes back up on stage for as long as he had left to be there. He’d done a big show downtown, and this club was a struggling Hee-Haw franchise and somehow they got him to stop in on his way outa town. Junior Samples was the main act that night. Captain Bumpsie and I just happened to stop there really late at night cause it was the last joint open on the way back to the island after we’d raised a bit of…..well, that’s different story
Who knew in 05′ this fish camp would become a mental heath stop for old folks.
I for one am grateful for it. Now to hear that Dylan update , he came along and changed our lives with that song.
Time to “Bitch about something”
The “new” CBS morning show.
They spent a full 10 mins. at the very top on R Kelly .
Now this is very important , but given the state of our world , using it as a led and spending 10 mins. It was done so they could rerun Gail Kings interview, with him.
They ripped off the jewel of CBS , that is Sunday Morning.
They stole their music , and their graphics , But they went with pale tangerine , and white.
Only peregrine falcons can read white letters on pale tangerine.
La Plama –
As I said here weeks ago ,
Watch this thing closely , the volcano has a huge fissure running across the island . The weak side is on the west , if it fails The entire mass will side into very deep water. Spending a wave across the Atlantic like we have never dreamed of.
If La Plama fails , it will kill everyone living along the East Coast of the Americas, and it will reach very far inland ,
The wave could be a thousand feet high as it nears the coast.
This us happened before , we know about it, in Hawaii.
When the wave hit Austraila, it threw clam shells that high .
The pile of rock is on the sea floor .
Highway 61 Revisited … what an album. I loved It Takes a Lot… which came alive for me on the Steven Stills – Al Kooper side of Super Session. I love that song and that album.

OK there is a little hope, some youngsters doin’ Hank.
JUst to show there ain’t no “white” nor “Black music”
Louis doing the same Hank song.
If Republicans want to kill jobs and tank the economy it will, subsequently, hurt their precious stock market, so….
I like Hank and Hank III. Don’t care much for Jr. For me, it skips a generation.
