  1. If the tRUMP brain trust in Michigan blames SFB for inciting them, can charges be filed against him, as well?

  2. I’ve always loved listening to Mayor Pete. He’d be good in State.

The American terrorists in Michigan do NOT represent Democracy! How about that death penalty?

Good for Nancy and the 25th!

  3. When I’ve driven around Michigan,  I have seen signs that say, “Mi Governor is an idiot”.  The “Mi Governor” supposedly being a clever shortening of “Michigan Governor”. These are also available as a bumper sticker. People in Michigan have lost their minds. The amount of hate Whitmer has received during the pandemic is beyond ridiculous. Something like this kidnapping plot news, while shocking, shouldn’t be too surprising, given how many crazy people there are out in the world today. Besides, this behavior seems to be encouraged from the top of our nation’s government.

  4. Two school covid vignettes.  An itinerant teacher, a specialist who travels from school to school to see students on her case load,  went to a local pre-school to see her student. The class wasn’t there. She went to the principal who forgot to notify her that one of the student’s private nurses was positive & the class was now quarantined at home. Some kids are so medically fragile that they have 24/7 nursing care. However, that class is on the playground with 2 other pre-school classes everyday.  Those students weren’t quarantined. There is an elaborate sign in procedure for each school involving a QR code, answering questions, and taking your temp. How did that nurse get in? In the meantime, that itinerant teacher was at several other schools before finding out. And she is 29 and has Type 1 diabetes and an insulin pump in her abdomen. She had to notify her other students’ parents that she’s quarantined until October 18.  Admin wouldn’t even do that. And the district doesn’t count non district employees on their daily covid count even though they’re there all day every day, on the district dashboard where all can see where positive cases are.

A friend who’s a psychologist in Upstate NY has an intern whose boyfriend was positive today. Even though he and the intern wear masks and they wiped down the testing material that they’re using, my friend won’t be visiting his 80 something mother who just had a heart procedure because ya just never know.
This and worse is happening in school districts all over the country. Between stuff like this and college kids being sent home…………..

  5. TT – Denmark is holding classes outdoors.  Having class outside was always such a treat.  It seems better than being indoors.

  6. Craig, will this affect the election??

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) will introduce legislation on Friday to establish a 25th Amendment commission to assess the president’s mental and physical capacity to hold office

  7. hmmm, is this (nancy about to put him in looney bin) why D’ump changed mind on stand alone bills and now wants a broad package according to CNN  story at 7:06 tonight

Trump, in total reversal, is telling allies he is, in fact, interested in a broad stimulus deal

  8. I think this 25th stuff is defendable, but for once I disagree with Nancy from the perspective of politics. Is dumbass crazy? yeah. is it related to the medications that he’s taking? probably. But should you convene a commission to examine the 25th amendment status of the president within a month of the election? I don’t think so.

  9. Agree Pogo, but what if he really is an imminent threat, she might be doing this despite the political downside. It really could be that serious.

  10. wonder if pence is positive and that’s why he’s returning to DC forthwith???

or D’ump ordered him back to deal with nancy.

pogo, pelosi could have gotten word that D’ump’s taken a turn for the worse or there’s good reason (based on doc reports) that  he’s likely to and they want to be ready.

  11. My hunch is she’s trying to set up a mechanism to quickly thwart some sort of insane military order, and wouldn’t surprise me if Pentagon chiefs in the loop, maybe even Pompeo.

  12. Well, he’s waaaaay the fuck out there. Nancy’s a whole lot smarter than I am, so I hope she knows what she’s doing.

  13. Also, of course, even if Biden wins Trump stays in office until January. Best to prepare a mechanism for fast action if he tries something dangerously insane.

  14. i don’t know why she is throwing red-meat to the QAnon crazies

the last article of the 25th is so vague and the bar so high… we’re still arguing about the comma in the 2nd Amendment

  15. Watching this Trump meltdown I fret about Hitler’s final order from the bunker to destroy Germany’s entire infrastructure. His generals ignored it. His final take was the German people failed him and deserved punishment. That’s how psychotic narcissists think.

  16. …plenty of jackals waiting to fill his shoes with incentive to preserve the infrastructure and the propaganda machine to work for themselves

…could name a few but whatever. need 2/3 of both houses on 25th btw after like a month long process

    ✌️

  17. frank luntz focus group found Harris to be ‘abrasive’ and ‘condescending.’  That he-man talk describing 1. a woman who stands up for something a man doesn’t like, 2. a woman who has to explain things to a (male) dummy.  luntz says pence won.

  18. Amendment XXV
    Section 1.
In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.
    Section 2.
Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.
    Section 3.
Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

  19. Amendment XXV
    Section 4.
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

  20. Honestly, Kamala got screwed because that debate was unmoderated- letting a participant ignore the questions, blatantly lie, and just make unsolicited soliloquies isn’t moderating a debate

DebComm tries so hard not to appear biased they disadvantage Dems in favor of disingenuous Goopers participating in bad-faith

  21. A sociopathic solipsist may desire to destroy everything, that is to say, take it all with him.

    EVERYTHING

  22. 217,738 US dead of Covid 19

That’s 217,738 people that trump doesn’t need to take with him, because he’s already completed that task.

  23. Harris won.  Harris beat Pence by a wide margin.  It seems that women and men view last night differently.

  24. Mr Crawford,
Is CNN’s instant poll more trustworthy than luntz’s ?

I didn’t watch or hear the ‘debate’. My understanding is, pence was on prolix mobile defense all night, dodging questions, bloviating on issue-transecting myths, and lying.

  25. Ms Dallas,

The CNN Instant Poll had men divided into two nearly equal halves. The women polled sided with Harris nearly 4-1, if I remember correctly. The fact that men appeared to poll nearly 50-50 may indicate a huge victory for Harris and the Dems in moving gender attitudes.

I tend to think that the CNN Instant Poll really does reveal an improvement among males. Maybe the fact that trump and his Admin are so malevolent and dire has helped to make the change.

  26. Mr Bink,

LOL. Sweetie and I already voted for Harris. If she is ‘underperforming,’ she’s going to be positively celestial when she opens the throttle.

  27. Re 25A : I think that pence, barr, pompey, mnuchin, and ross could remove trump tonight, if they wanted to, and the Houses of Congress could ratify their move before midnight. At this point, trump’s presidency only survives because of the lackeys lack of guts.

We may yet reach a caligula or nero moment. Noon of January 20th is still centuries away.

  28. i live in a country that elected a flim-flamming game-show host to the highest executive office, good Sir X, not taking anything for granted

  29. FoxNews frauds Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity never mentioned right wing militia arrests for plotting to murder Michigan governor. Laura Ingraham on her show tonight briefly acknowledged it by attacking Gov. Whitmer for blaming a “handful” of criminals on Trump, didn’t report any of the case facts. Imagine the difference if this was an ANTIFA case.

  30. Xrepub, outcome of instant polls of only debate watchers affected by party affiliation mix of those who actually watched. Don’t know what last night’s CNN sample looked like.

  31. interesting little tidbit that may upset his base in Wapo:

President Trump received an experimental antibody cocktail as part of a treatment regimen for covid-19 he has extolled as “miracles coming down from God,” even though its development relied on cells derived from human fetal tissue, a material his administration opposes.
The effectiveness of the antibody therapy was tested by employing a fetal tissue cell line from the 1980s widely used in biomedical research, according to Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, its manufacturer. The cell line is old enough that it would fall outside restrictions on federal funding of fetal tissue research the Trump administration imposed last year, according to National Institutes of Health guidelines.
But the president’s repeated praise for the antibody cocktail he requested and received when he was first hospitalized nearly a week ago has generated controversy, given his clampdown on fetal tissue research at the urging of social conservatives crucial to his political base.

  32. the guardian:

Donald Trump, who is still recovering from Covid-19, has suggested he might organize a rally in Florida on Saturday, while continuing to ignore questions on whether he has yet tested negative for the disease.

On Thursday night, Trump said: “I think I’m going to try doing a rally on Saturday night if we can, if we have enough time to put it together.

“But we want to do a rally in Florida, probably in Florida on Saturday night, might come back and do one in Pennsylvania, on the following night.”

  33. I wonder if KO is making a set of demonstration videos to shop to MSNBC or CNN.

A scenario I have been wondering about.  SFB needs to be put on a ventilator, that would require him being put into a coma.  What if he refuses to sign the transfer letter, instead telling the West Wing that daughter and son in law will run the country while he is knocked out.  Bobble-head goes along with this and does not want to upset the cult by demanding to be put in charge.  Madam Speaker might be considering a few more issues then just dumping SFB out of the Oval Office.

  34. BB – My thought about Pence stepping in is that once power transferred back to tRUMPsky, he’d never forgive him for doing it.  Also, if he tried to transfer power to his evil spawn, well, we have rules and it doesn’t work that way…nor is invoking the 25th a “soft coup” as the farts are starting to claim.   Really, if civics were to be properly taught in public schools, it would put an end to some of this idiocy.
The media is increasingly partisan and compartmentalized.  Nothing but crickets from the Russian/Republican-backed media on the militia group planning to attack, have a mock trial, and kill Whitmer. (They sound just like AQ and ISIS, but more inept.) Nothing about the fires still raging in any of the MSM.  Not much mention of the ‘cane, either.

  35. Abruptly stopping dexmethasone can cause many symptoms including confusion (how would we tell?) and peeling skin (I kinda wanna see that…a zombie prez).

  36. From my CNN daily email notifications:

The US is averaging more than 45,000 new Covid-19 positive tests a day, more than double what it saw in June. It’s an ominous increase that’s stoking even more concern for a potentially devastating winter. The CDC predicts deaths in the US could reach 233,000 by the end of this month, and projections from the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation show more than 2,900 Americans could die daily by January. Vaccine efforts are revving up around the world to prevent such tragic outcomes.China just joined the World Health Organization’s COVAX initiative, which aims to provide global access to effective Covid-19 vaccines. More than 75 high-income countries have committed money to the project. The US, which severed its ties to WHO, and Russia are not among them.

There are two links in the article that are worth reading, so I left them in .  If they present a problem for the site, Poobah, feel free to disable them.

  37. I doubt that the 25th Amendment will actually pass at the moment.  But I agree with what Craig posted last night…  it’s to give cover in case trump gives some insane order.

For me… this has nothing to do with hating trump (which I do)…  I don’t care if the Archangel Gabriel was president.  If he were taking the same chemicals as trump, I’d want him removed.

ps…  the right has always characterized us on the left as “snowflakes”.  I’d like to label the right the same…   but their snowflakes have already melted and turned to mud.

  38. The unmasked, science-deniers on the other side of the office could be heard whining LOUDLY today.  Idiots!  Nobody is saying that tRUMP”started” COVID.  We did not win the trade war with China. Poor baby, couldn’t listen to that woman debate more than 10 minutes before turning it off.   I listened to your whitey-bobblehead figurine lie, but you couldn’t handle the truth from a woman.   It went on like that for quite awhile.
Craig, Maybe you should start a book on how Pelosi saved America during this administration.  I wasn’t a fan because I didn’t understand what she was doing at the time but, damn, she knows how to play political chess.

  39.
Although there is little chance of seeing the twenty-fifth Amendment being invoked prior to the election, how about after the election.  If the results are anywhere near forecast would Bobble-head and senmjrldr consider using it then?  The remains of the trump party might not want the cause of the destruction of the greedy old pervert party to remain in public view.

  40. Yep BB I’d be much more comfortable if a mechanism in place for Pence and a congressional commission to remove him after the election if he tries to (literally?) go nuclear.

  41. from that abc story:

The gathering is scheduled to take place on the South Lawn of the White House in conjunction with a previously planned event organized by controversial conservative activist Candace Owens’ group Blexit, a campaign to urge Black Americans to leave the Democratic Party, sources said.

Trump according to a source is expected to address the crowd from the balcony of the White House.

  42. “expected to address the crowd from the balcony of the White House.”

    il duce lives again

Image result for trump mussolini on balcony

  43. This is why Pelosi is right to put the 25th Amendment on the table…

“If you fuck around with us, if you do something bad to us, we are going to do things to you that have never been done before” Trump tells Rush Limbaugh today about Iran.

  44. a lot of presidents have been caught hot mic’d using a curse word now and then but

has there ever been a prez before who said “fuck” in an interview on the radio fully aware the broadcast was nationwide?

  45. I don’t want to see anyone hanged upside down at a gas station, although I would kinda like to see the color of general barr’s intestines.

But, I’ll just wait patiently until he needs a colonectomy.

  46. I s’pose it was a blow fly, signifying that the republican party is over, its head, organs and members all dead and ready for cremation.

We  can roast hotdogs and marshmallows.

But first, more popcorn. I like it salted and with onion or garlic powder.

  47. So I was just sitting at the stop light, and this popped into my head –Will the Michigan  Militia have Russian advisors ?  – Mr Man

So funny that I almost wet my pants.

  48. OM – The women used to be pretty quiet.  Who was it, Steffi Graff, who got so much negative attention for making noise when she played?

  49. Trumps having a racist rally in Sanford, oh but of course! The perfect backdrop for the racists as Trayvon was murdered there. Godamn, I want him gone! Oh and for the rest of them to go under rocks.

  50. The Republican who could help defeat Trump

(CNN)After the nation and the world witnessed President Donald Trump’s selfish and dangerous game of political theater ever since he tested positive for Covid-19, there remains no doubt: Trump is not fit to hold the office now, and he certainly shouldn’t be allowed to govern for another four years. America needs to put this unwitting experiment in kakistocracy to an abrupt end, and the best man to do that is former President George W. Bush by endorsing Joe Biden for president.

  51. White House Blocked C.D.C. From Requiring Masks on Public Transportation The order would have mandated that both passengers and employees wear face coverings on planes, trains, buses and subways and in airports, stations and depots.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention drafted a sweeping order last month requiring all passengers and employees to wear masks on all forms of public and commercial transportation in the United States, but it was blocked by the White House, according to two federal health officials.

  52. TV physical? Whaaaa?  Drop trou-, turn your head and cough?     I’ll wait for the SNL parody.
tRUMPsky is so bizarre and awful (yes, he’s getting worse), he’s managed to become a caricature of himself.   Take away his damned keys! He’s nuts!

  53. The air waves used to required equal representation.  reagan killed that.  Now the phrase is used to pretend that they are doing the same thing. BS.

Internet tubes rumours are floating that Christie is in tough shape.  I thought he had left the SFB ring.

  54. “Internet tubes rumours are floating that Christie is in tough shape“

He’s the guy that said people were just going to have to die to restart the economy.  Bet he didn’t mean himself!

  55. Saturday, there will be a women’s march in DC.  I hope security is tight.
The Repugz had better make sure nothing bad happens, because they will get the blame and for hey will pay for many elections to come.
Meanwhile, followers of tRUMPsky  will be sitting on the lawn as he spews COVID-laced droplets on them. Kids, you’re in a cult, so put on your new tennis shoes and eat your pudding cups.

  56. Yep, Bob, so true, “Fair and Balance” along with “Both Sides”, that’s the medias game. Like how the media just can’t say for the most part Trump is a LIAR!

  57. The COVID bill comes due 2-3 weeks after infection, the White House is screwed in a week, or so.

  58. Oh no, the F-bomb.  Where have I been all day.  Does anyone think the Iranians will misunderstand the message?  We need to get out of the Mid-East and let those people continue their 5,000 year war without our interference.  if  given a choice in a “face-down,” I would rather face a sane person than a crazy one.  I’ve been there, crazy people are scary.  Is our president crazy; could very well be?  At least were are sure he will keep us all on the edge of our seat.  We all need to calm down a notch, our country is not coming to an end because of a few nuts on both sides of the isle.  Some of our people are trying to make a somthing burger out of a nothing burger.  Come November 4 (or later)McDonalds will still be serving real burgers, the sun will rise in the East, and we all will go our merry way.  Oh, one more thing:  in a previous thread I promised to eat crow if Biden got on the stage for a debate.  Let me tell you, the breast meat was not all that bad, but the feet and feathers were another story.  At least I kept my word.  Hi Craig.

  59. so how many more million women have to show up tomorrow at the march to offset the continuous media loop coverage of D’ump as Wussolini on the balcony?

  60. (CNN)A New York federal judge said he will hear oral arguments later this month to consider if the Justice Department can represent President Donald Trump in a defamation lawsuit brought by E. Jean Carroll, a former magazine columnist who has accused the President of rape.
Judge Lewis Kaplan, in an order on Friday, said oral arguments in the case will be held in person on October 21.

The hearing suggests the judge could make a decision soon in the case, the outcome of which could have significant implications for the President. Carroll’s attorneys were moving to obtain a DNA sample from Trump and take his deposition under oath.
The Justice Department sought to intervene in the case and replace Trump as the defendant in the defamation lawsuit last month. The Justice Department made the move saying it was representing the President as he was acting in his official capacity when he disparaged Carroll and denied sexually assaulting her in the dressing room of Bergdorf Goodman in the mid 1990s. Trump has denied the allegation.

  61. Watching MJ Hegar eat Cornyn’s lunch in a debate.  He tried to go after her “Hollywood” donors and she said she would love to talk about his donors, too.
They have a loud bell; nobody breaking the time rules tonight.
Cornyn couldn’t bring himself to say BLM…he went straight to all American lives matter.
They also asked him why, after all most 4 decades in office, a quarter of those polled had no idea who he was.  Ouch.

  62. oh btw, i’m not here to sell netflix subscriptions, but David Attenborough’s “Our Planet” is free to watch, google “netflix watch free” to find it.

It’s absolutely incredible and of course, Attenborough approaches it with the perspective of a conservationist

  63. Funniest picture of the day was a shot of SFB talking to faux snooze.  This time his painter got a good layer of California Tan on him, not Florida Orange.  Just a bit of a problem.  It only covered his straight ahead face, it was a very bright white from the sides to beyond his ears.  It looks like he just stood and walked into the spray gun and never turned his head.  Funny.

Seems I was not the only one to notice that his right side is not functional now.  Worse than earlier this year.  And that is on steroids.  Wait until those wear off and he craters.

  64. i’ve been in and out of the veterinarian’s, lately, BiD- they seem to be operating fine, i’d assume they’d get hit hard if animal to human transmission was common. (anecdotal, not an epidemiologist ofc)

  65. …just “wow” on that Lindsey Graham quote- to hear him say it in the video clip found in Craig’s link is even worse
