JERUSALEM (AP) — “President Donald Trump has cast the elusive pursuit of peace between Israelis and Palestinians as the “ultimate deal.” But he will step foot in Israel [today] having offered few indications of how he plans to achieve what so many of his predecessors could not. … Israeli officials say they are largely in the dark about what ideas Trump might present for peace or what concessions he may demand. … David Friedman, the new U.S. ambassador to Israel, told the newspaper Israel Hayom that Trump’s goal at the start is simply ‘to begin a discussion that would hopefully lead to peace.'”

We could have a discussion that leads to peace. Why didn’t anybody think of that before ?
Sorry about the absence – been busy all weekend with moving crap from one place to another after LP finished year 2 in college and trying to catch up with undone yard work.
Renee, congrats to the Celtics for attending (and causing) another classic 4th quarter collapse by the Cavs. Oh, and we were oh, so close in the Preakness. I’m gonna stand pat with Classic Empire for the Belmont. Think we could say that Cloud Computing kinda represents the thoroughbred world’s version of AI?
Love the thread starter, boss. All that winning in the ME – so now that drumpf has told the Saudis to stop terrorism and terrorists (who according to conventional wisdom they have supported since the time of at least GWB), everything should calm down there overnight, right? Lord – and Melania and Ivanka did what drumpf criticized Michelle Obama for – refusing to cover their heads in respect for their Muslim hosts. You really can’t write this stuff, can you?
NC takes it on the chin again.
Those repug lawmakers there just don’t get it – on any level.
Pogo – probably the most important vote in the NC decision is that Thomas voted for the majority. A very unusual vote for him.
Pogo… if Classic Empire runs in the Belmont… I’ll gladly ride with you again.
And last night just before Rick and I decided to call it a day and go to bed, we put on the game just to see the score. The Celtics were down by 2 points with 5 minutes left in the game. We watched those last minutes. As a Celtic fans, we were thrilled that they won a game… but still expect the Cavs to win the series. We might watch some of it tomorrow night. It depends… we are leaving for Ogunquit tomorrow morning until Friday. We are going to the playhouse Wednesday afternoon for a matinee performance of Mama Mia. Not going to be beach weather… so watching games while snacking in bed (something we never do at home… no tv in the bedroom) should be fun win or lose.
Mr Doodlesdog’s terrier cartoon reminds me of a Thurber dog. However, I can’t find the Thurber dog.
Xrep… that dog atop the thread is a Thurber dog. But having no luck posting a picture of it here.
sigh… that happens a lot on this blog…
you mean this Thurber dog?
I can never see the name Nigel without thinking of the short story by J. R. R. Tokein

also from cbs news:
Former FBI Director James Comey’s father says his son was fired because President Trump was “scared to death of him,” according to CNN.
J. Brien Comey spoke to CNN by phone on Saturday about his son’s dismissal as the nation’s top law enforcement officer.
“[Comey] didn’t give him 100 percent loyalty, and he demands that of people who work with him,” he said, according to CNN. “[Comey] said he would give 100 percent honesty, but not loyalty.”
“Why he was fired, I think, is Trump changes every day,” he added. “He had three reasons three days in a row.”
Comey’s father said his son is dealing well with his termination.
“He’s doing fine. He’s a solid citizen, he has lots of opportunity,” he said, according to CNN. “It was a dumb thing to get rid of him. A loss for the FBI.”
He added that he isn’t a fan of Mr. Trump, whom he described as “crazy as a hoot.”
“….Trump’s goal at the start is simply ‘to begin a discussion that would hopefully lead to peace.’”
now why didn’t jimmy carter think of that while david camp-ing out with those mid-east guys? and bill with arafat and barak? who knew it just takes a discussion so why waste time on accords and peace treaties
Preibus and Bannon are back in the States. Maybe both have grand jury invites.
BB, I agree with you about Thomas voting with the liberal wing of the Court. I’ve got a call in to hell to see what the weather is down there. I’m betting it’s cold.
I had to run over to a hearing in an adjacent county and heard drumpf’s address in Israel. NetanYAHOO!! probably hasn’t had that good a BJ in years.
Oh, and word is that Flynn is going to plead the 5th re the congressional subpoena he got inviting him to testify and not cooperate in the Russia investigation. I recall him saying that no one who has not committed a crime would ever plead the 5th.
Thurber
Pogo – the floater does have a 5th Amendment quote too (this is probably the first and only time I will use faux nuz for a link)
What a day. I was going to go with internet only, but could not call out on cellular phone service, the leaves are wet and disrupting the signal, so I decided to keep the phone and internet, but that cost more than keeping the phone, tv and internet. Screw. At least the tv package changed and I get to enjoy fewer channels, but will not miss them due the fact I do not watch it. So getting rid of hardware and using a different cable package I cut about thirty dollars off the monthly bill. The other option is going to the only other provider and they are the same. Bah humbug.
Trump is going to repeal discord in the Middle East and replace it with the most peacey-est peace ever. It’s gonna be huge.
RR, curious what happens when you try to post an image. If you stick to the file types cited and keep it under 5 MB it’s supposed to work.
Craig…. ahhhh…. maybe the images are over 5 MBs. No problem.
Enjoy your dad and Toby.
RR, if you’re up for the trouble most image viewing software has a resizing feature in editing options. I use Microsoft Office. I need to limit file sizes to keep database capacity costs down.
Thanks for the well wishes for Dad. We are going to our favorite fish camp for fried catfish tomorrow with our Methodist preacher. It’s the sixth and final day of our 90th birthday daily festival, it’s the actual birthday (he was born a day or so after Lindy landed).
Drumpf’s budget is out. If you’re poor you’re on your own.
I wonder how the unemployed miners in WV & KY like him now.
