Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco (R), a GOP candidate for California’s governorship, seized more than a half million ballots from a November special election to approve redrawing congressional districts in a way that favored Democrats.
Bianco said his probe was sparked by a local elections group that claims the results were off by 45,800 votes. This group was looking at the difference between handwritten ballot intake logs, and the total number of votes reporter to the state.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) and Art Tinoco, the registrar of voters for Riverside County Board of Supervisors, however, say the difference was about 100 votes. The measure was approved in the county by more than 80,000 votes.
Bianco has defended his actions and said it has nothing to do with his campaign for governor.
“It is basically a fact-finding mission. This investigation is simple. Physically count the ballots and compare that result with the total votes reported,” Bianco said during a Friday press conference.

“I am a BIG proponent of ICE wearing masks as they search for, and are forced to deal with, hardened criminals, many of whom were let into our Country by Sleepy Joe Biden,” President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I would greatly appreciate, however, NO MASKS, when helping our Country out of the Democrat caused MESS at the airports, etc.”
The president’s sartorial advice came as ICE agents deployed to airports on Monday, a strategy Trump insists will help TSA agents—who are not getting paid, while the ICE officers now hovering around them are—as they struggle with massive security caused by the partial government shutdown.
“I didn’t think it was an appropriate look for an airport,” Trump said. “I think it’s a very appropriate look when they’re out on the street trying to find one of the 11,888 murderers that Sleepy Joe Biden let into the country.” He then insisted that a side benefit of that arrangement would be that ICE agents could now arrest undocumented immigrants entering the country. “It’s very fertile territory,” Trump said.
In essence, the president was admitting to the outsized role that aesthetics have played as ICE terrorizes communities across the country.
It’s this blend of violence and optics he clearly wants to keep from a certain class of Americans.
These, apparently, are not the folks that Trump wants to expose to ICE’s campaign of violence, abuse, and harassment—at least not firsthand.
“This administration sees all of that as a benefit. They want to terrorize immigrant communities. They want to be seen as an occupying force. They’ve been clear about this. They want to make immigrant communities so fearful that they’ll self-deport, and they’ll tell others to stop coming here. Making immigration officers as scary and intimidating as possible is part of the strategy.”
By calling on ICE officers to drop the masks, Trump appears to understand, even narrowly, the inherent theater of his mass deportation agenda. But like ICE’s theater of war, which uses optics to inflict real violence, it seems like a matter of time before trouble will start at airports.

Nationally, the face of the Truth Commission’s investigation is New Mexico Representative Melanie Stansbury, who as a member of Congress has had a look at the unredacted files. “I spent a fair amount of my time this morning looking at the files on Zorro Ranch,” she told reporters last month. “There aren’t words to describe what are in those files.” Stansbury has repeatedly emphasized to the press that “both girls and boys” were abused at the ranch.
On Thursday, after sitting through Attorney General Pam Bondi’s evasions in a closed-door “fake hearing,” Stansbury reported on social media: “If anyone wondered whether there is a coverup, there is a coverup happening in the Department of Justice and in the White House.”
Stansbury has 1.2 million followers on TikTok alone. (For comparison, Connecticut Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, who is also outspoken on the Epstein affair, has 125,000.)
New Mexico’s Truth Commission is clearly ambitious. But what does conducting an investigation of a local crime scene have to do with defying federal overreach?
That is the real motivation for these New Mexico lawmakers. Back in 2019, when Epstein was arrested and charged with sex trafficking of minors, the state geared up for a probe into his activities in the region. Girls and women, after all, had alleged for decades that Epstein groomed, abused, or raped them, many as teenagers, at Zorro Ranch. New evidence surfaces all the time that New Mexico was the site of some of Epstein’s gravest misdeeds, not to mention his obscene plan to seed a master race with his own DNA. What’s more, the FBI at the time was investigating all of Epstein’s global houses of horror: properties in France, the Virgin Islands, New York, and Florida.
But before the New Mexico investigation could even take its first step, the feds stopped it in its tracks. The then New Mexico attorney general said in 2019 that federal prosecutors in New York told him they were running a complex, multi-jurisdictional investigation, and New Mexico should just back off.
Epstein was especially close to Bill Richardson, a Cabinet secretary under President Clinton and governor of New Mexico from 2003 to 2011. Richardson regularly visited Zorro Ranch for sex, according to Epstein survivor Virginia Giuffre. Or, rather, as she clarified in a 2016 deposition, Richardson came for “massages,” which, she said, “means sex.”
In 1993, King, who served three nonconsecutive terms as New Mexico governor between 1971 and 1995, sold Epstein the tract of land in Stanley on which he built his ranch. Epstein had the mansion built later in the 1990s, and the King family still owns the land around it.
King died in 2009, but his son Gary, who served as New Mexico attorney general from 2006 to 2014, was even closer to Epstein. When Gary King was running for governor in 2014, he took money from the child rapist via a rat’s nest of secret shell companies.

if ones goal is to be Bagdad Bob then go for it. I personally have a higher goal than that. I have enough trouble with basic ignorance; I don’t need to be carelessly dishonest in addition.

But I do believe it is every Americans God given right to make shit up on the census form. Back when I had to do the annual farm census I did it all the time. After all the census wasn’t for my benefit but some commodity trader.
