Patel announced details of an attempted attack on Donald Trump’s UFC birthday bash too early.
Kash Patel’s big mouth might have just gummed up another investigation.
The FBI director frustrated Secret Service officials by prematurely announcing the details of an investigation into a violent attack planned for the White House UFC event, according to multiple sources that spoke with MS NOW Tuesday.
Patel revealed components of the investigation via a social media post earlier in the day, sharing that “multiple individuals” were in custody.
“On June 10, FBI and our law enforcement partners became aware of a potential threat to the UFC America 250 event in Washington, D.C. involving individuals outside of the National Capital Region,” Patel wrote.
Nearly two dozen people participated in Signal group chats discussing an alleged plot to strike the UFC’s America 250 event with explosive-laden drones so as to rush the evacuating crowd into the crosshairs of a pre-staged sniper team, reported Fox News. Five people are reportedly in custody in connection with the scheme.
“While the result represented the best of investigative work, it was also nothing out of the ordinary for this law enforcement team—we are built to detect, respond to, and bring to justice those who threaten the lives of American citizens—particularly during large gatherings like the historic UFC 250 fight,” Patel continued in his X post. “That’s exactly what we did here. I want to thank our great agents and partners, this work remains ongoing and we will continue to update the public as permitted.”
A White House spokesman claimed that the incident was exactly why the White House needed the proposed $400 million ballroom—though the 90,000-square-foot space still would not have been capable of housing the UFC event, nor was the fight ever planned to be indoors.
It’s not the first time that Patel has flubbed a federal investigation. In September, Patel’s reliance on the bureau’s planes waylaid the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s assassination by at least a day, preventing a critical analysis team from accessing a flight to the crime scene.
His personal flights interfered with another FBI investigation on December 13, when the FBI’s shooting reconstruction team was unable to immediately respond to a shooting at Brown University due to a lack of available bureau planes at an airport in Richmond, Virginia, according to Senator Dick Durbin.

Fox5 reported it as 52.79% to 36.57% in early returns Wednesday morning. The Washington Examiner, citing the Associated Press, had the same spread — 52.8% for George, 36.6% for McDuffie — and noted the race hadn’t been called yet as of Wednesday morning. An earlier AP tally around midnight put George at 52.6% after about 66% of votes were counted.

DC is using ranked-choice voting for mayor for the first time this year, after voters approved Initiative 83 in 2024. The list also included elected officials. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Representative Jim Himes of Connecticut were both named in the leaked directory, as was Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale.
For years, billionaire investor and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel has led a members-only group that few people outside its circles knew existed. The group, called “Dialog,” has been holding closed-door retreats where tech executives, financiers, government officials, and other high-profile figures meet to talk freely, away from public scrutiny.
According to reporting by Wired, a large collection of internal records tied to Dialog leaked, exposing the names, personal details, and private information of hundreds of members and past attendees.
They included members’ political affiliations, their personal predictions about the future of artificial intelligence, and even matchmaking preferences, because Dialog, it turns out, also functions as a kind of high-end matchmaking network.
Attendees were reportedly asked whether they were “looking for love” and given the option to join a network built around fostering connections among, as the group described it, exceptional people.
The topics at the center of Dialog’s gatherings closely mirror concerns that Thiel has spoken about publicly for years. He has warned that fears about existential threats, things like AI catastrophe or nuclear war, could be used to justify extreme concentrations of power, including what he has described as a “one-world” government.
Those concerns appear to extend beyond words. The New York Times reported, and the New York Post also covered, that Thiel recently moved his family to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Reasons cited included concerns about taxes, political instability, the risk of nuclear conflict, and the potential for an AI-driven societal collapse.
Thiel obtained New Zealand citizenship in 2011 and has reportedly looked into citizenship options in other countries as well, part of what critics describe as a long-running effort to build a personal safety net against large-scale global disruption.
