  1. note to Dave the cartoonist:
A more hopeful alternative to your escape hatch scenario is something along this dialogue from “2001: A Space Odyssey” … DJT as HAL:

HAL: [His shutdown] I’m afraid. I’m afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I’m a… fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Mr. Langley, and he taught me to sing a song. If you’d like to hear it I can sing it for you.

  2. In the wake of new Jeffrey Epstein emails implicating Trump, the GOP unhelpfully backed up the president by releasing 20,000 new Epstein files of their own, and Josh Johnson unpacks new revelations, including the two men’s frenemy relationship and apparent connection to cosmetics heiress Celina Midelfart, as well as conservative pundits like Megyn Kelly’s attempts to downplay the bombshell. Plus, Troy Iwata offers a scathing critique of Epstein’s email grammar.

  3. jam on toast with more stories coming out of the woodwork. in case you missed it, this yesterday:

Stacey Williams is a former girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein and says she was groped by Donald Trump back in 1993 inside Trump Tower. She joins Katy Tur to share more on her story and to react to the growing push for the Epstein files to be released. The White House has denied the allegations by Williams.

  4. another interesting peek into the past with jeffrey:
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/goldman-sachs-stands-by-top-lawyer-kathy-ruemmler-after-her-emails-with-jeffrey-epstein-exposed/

Goldman Sachs on Thursday strongly backed its top lawyer, Kathy Ruemmler, a day after a congressional committee released her chummy emails with notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein before she joined the investment bank.

Those emails feature Ruemmler, who served as White House counsel to former President Barack Obama, and Epstein exchanging thoughts about President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, and overweight highway rest stop patrons.

“See you at 2, I ordered sushi for you,” Epstein wrote Ruemmler in March 2018 as part of an email thread that began with him sending her a Daily Beast article headlined, “How close is Donald Trump to a psychiatric breakdown?”

Those emails came about 17 months before Epstein’s arrest on federal child sex trafficking charges. He killed himself weeks after that arrest in a Manhattan jail.

Ruemmler is Goldman’s chief legal officer and general counsel.

Goldman Sachs spokesman Tony Fratto, in a statement to CNBC, said, “These emails were private correspondence well before Kathy Ruemmler joined Goldman Sachs.”

“Kathy is an exceptional general counsel and we benefit from her judgment every day,” Fratto said.

Ruemmler did not respond to requests for comment about her emails with Epstein on Thursday.

In 2023, Ruemmler told The Wall Street Journal, “I regret ever knowing Jeffrey Epstein.”

  5. BiD, thanks for sharing this one in last thread… so many many questions that need answering about his connections, both financial as well as friendly, with Putie and gang:

    https://www.salon.com/2025/11/13/emails-jeffrey-epstein-offered-to-give-russia-insight-into-trump/

New emails show that Jeffrey Epstein tried to contact Russia’s top diplomat with knowledge about President Donald Trump prior to a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018.

“I think you might suggest to Putin that Lavrov can get insight on talking to me,” Epstein wrote to Jagland in June 2018, referencing longtime Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov. Epstein indicated that he had also spoken to Russia’s former UN ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, who died in 2017.

“Churkin was great,” Epstein wrote. “He understood Trump after our conversations. it is not complex. he must be seen to get something its that simple.”

  6. And now we know that the soccer ball Putin gave to tRUMPsky was not stuffed with cash…it was symbolic, as in he’s giving you one ball but controls you with the one he’s keeping.

This is what never made sense about Epstein; he was always a doofus like his bestie. He was a disaster when they gave him a job in finance. He would hold dinners with smart folks (who were stupid enough to be in the room), but would only exhibit his lack of scientific knowledge, or whatever the topic.

He was, however, successful as a predator. Maxwell’s dad was rumored to have been Mossad. Did Jeffrey take his place when he tumbled off of his yacht? Who got to him in jail? Did Epstein give the Russians enough intel and physical proof that he made himself a liability?

What are the details of thousands of transactions totaling over a billion dollars?

The only way Adolf weasels out of this is to die. He might try disclosing his many illnesses for pity, but…Elon said empathy is weakness; that’s how they get you.

How quickly can JD offload Usha and her kids, and attach himself to The-Widow-Kirk and Charlie’s white kids, so MAGAts will accept him.

Marrying your brother’s widow is biblical (even though it’s only if your brother has no son). Evangelicals are going to twist it and eat up a union between JD & Erika.

  7. “The Bible verse about being unequally yoked is found in 2 Corinthians 6:14, which advises not to be yoked together with unbelievers, highlighting the incompatibility between righteousness and wickedness, or light and darkness. This verse emphasizes the importance of aligning with those who share similar beliefs and values.” -Search assist

*So long to the Hindu, Usha, whom JD married in a Hindu ceremony. Were they even really married in the eyes of White Jesus?

  8. What’s been lost in this flurry of emails is that the Epstein files have not been released. Can you imagine what is in there that Republicans are protecting?

  9. https://thehill.com/policy/defense/5605091-joint-task-force-southern-spear/

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on Thursday evening a new operation dubbed “Southern Spear” to quash “narco-terrorists” in the Western Hemisphere.
Hegseth said the mission is being led by Joint Task Force Southern Spear and U.S. Southern Command (Southcom) to defend the “Homeland, removes narco-terrorists from our Hemisphere, and secures our Homeland from the drugs that are killing our people.”

*It seems Adolf is going to go with |calling in sick ~ just yet.

The administration has built up a massive military presence in the Southcom area, sending warships, F-35 fighter planes, spy aircraft and other military assets as it turns up the pressure against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, whom they characterized as an “illegitimate leader.”
The U.S. has added more firepower in the region this week with the arrival of USS Gerald R. Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, and its strike group to Southcom on Tuesday. The carrier, which has over 4,000 sailors, carries F/A-18 Super Hornets fighter planes and long-range Tomahawk missiles.

*But no Tomahawks for Ukraine. Got it.

  11. https://www.newsweek.com/nevada-supreme-court-revives-trump-fake-electors-case-11047224

The Nevada Supreme Court on Thursday revived the state’s criminal case against six Republicans who signed certificates falsely asserting that Donald Trump had won Nevada’s six electoral votes in the 2020 presidential election.

By ruling that the indictment can proceed in Clark County, the court preserved one of the few remaining state-level prosecutions aimed at addressing efforts to advance alternate slates of electors for Donald Trump.
The outcome positions Nevada as a key test of whether states can hold participants accountable for submitting false electoral documents—an issue with direct implications for how future election challenges and political pressure campaigns may unfold.

The Trump administration made a $7.5 million payment to the government of Equatorial Guinea as it seeks to deport people to the West African country and draws closer to its heavily prosecuted leaders, according to the top Democratic senator on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Shaheen said in her letter that the $7.5 million payment stood out because it would would “far exceed the amount of U.S. foreign assistance provided over the last 8 years combined” to the country.

The payment, made from a fund for migration and refugee assistance, would be the first government-to-government transfer from that account, which was set up by Congress to respond to humanitarian crises. She questioned whether the payment was a permissible use of the money.

The State Department declined to comment on the details of diplomatic communications, but said, “Implementing the Trump Administration’s immigration policies is a top priority for the Department of State. As Secretary Rubio has said, we remain unwavering in our commitment to end illegal and mass immigration and bolster America’s border security.”

The U.S. government has hired 50,000 employees since President Donald Trump took office, his top personnel official said, with the new staff largely in national security positions reflecting the administration’s policy focus.

The bulk of the new hires, reported first by Reuters, work at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said Scott Kupor, the federal government’s human resources director, in an interview on Thursday night.

  14. New Trail Mix Briefs Deep Dive: What’s Actually In the Epstein Videos?

Those new emails everyone’s buzzing about barely scratch the surface. They’re just a breadcrumb from a much bigger pile of 10,000+ videos and photos the Trump Administration is still sitting on — including the material investigators described years ago, like the half-naked young women on his lap.

Federal agents seized over 300 gigabytes of Epstein-related footage and images. None of it is blocked by the courts. DOJ could release the whole thing tomorrow, and the emails just remind us how much we still haven’t seen.

Our Brief breaks down what’s known, what’s buried, and why those few emails are nothing compared to the evidence pile the government locked away.

  15. https://www.bpdaily.com/doj-official-secret-recording-epstein-files/

A senior Department of Justice (DOJ) official told an undercover reporter that the department would redact any released Epstein files to remove the names of Republicans.

Joseph Schnitt, the acting Deputy Chief of the Office of Enforcement Operations, was secretly filmed on what he believed was a Hinge date.

His date was in fact an undercover operative working for the far-right O’Keefe Media Group (OMG).

  16. What a riot — he’s ordering an investigation of the files he is covering up.

The stuff about Dems is in the files he won’t release. He’s just giving House Republicans more reasons to vote for release

And if he thinks this will scare off Democrats, today’s generation has no reason to care. The Democrats who might be outed in this are either dead or don’t matter anymore. Details about Leon Panetta living in Epstein’s house aren’t going to scare today’s Democrats.

  18. In some way Donald trump is hanging himself, but he needs a little help with the knot.
    Something like

How does Donald Trump know who was at all those parties? Because he was in the room, The question is which room? Was it at the large party where all the New York elites hung out or was it when he was in the restricted members only room? Because we know he was there.

A few low cost bill boards in magaland

Release the Epstein files!, Call Congressman (fitb) at xxx-xxx-xxxx

As Craig said this is about making the Republican voters question their vote, not them switch their vote to Democrat but to say a pox on both their houses. That is a far easier task
A combination of that and the very energized Democratic party will get you a blue wave in places you never imagined it could happen.

  19. Craig
The most interesting name on that list was JP Morgan Chase. A banking institution that can buy up every liability Trump Co has and foreclose tomorrow, just out of Jamie Dimon’s pocket change. They have grown so big that they make Bank of America look like your local regional bank.

    Don’t fck with Jamie Dimon

    Jack

  20. so the most realistic best case scenario is that Trump lives long enough through legitimate midterms that allow Democrats to take control of at least one chamber and then sadly, of very natural causes, goes to be with Jesus after the new Congress is sworn in

if summoned to be with heavenly father as a result of very natural Jesus-endorsed causes before that, I don’t know that anything gets better. I don’t want Nazis like Stephen Miller with their hands on the levers without daddy around.

  21. GOP Redistricting Ploy Backfires?

Cook Report: “Between Oklahoma, Kansas, California, Virginia and now a huge win in Utah, Democrats have quitlyy strung together an impressive streak of victories over the past few weeks that have, surprisingly, pushed the mid-decade redistricting war closer to a draw”

And the really encouraging thing is Democrats are doing it with the voters. We saw what happened in California. And in Virginia where Dems took the House of Delegates by storm 64-36, paving way to congressional pickups with a new map. Less well known: events like the wildly popular petition drive in Ohio that collected 250,000 signatures to change the Constitution and all of a sudden the Republicans completely abandoned their partisan redistricting plan.

New prosecutor named in Trump’s election racketeering case in Georgia

Trump and 18 co-defendants were indicted on charges they tried to steal the 2020 election. A few defendants have pleaded guilty, but Trump and most of the other remaining defendants have pleaded not guilty.

Trump is charged with the overall racketeering conspiracy and several charges dealing with an alleged conspiracy to replace presidential electors for President Joe Biden, who won Georgia in 2020, with Trump supporters.

  24. https://newrepublic.com/post/203226/justice-department-prepares-pay-trump-ally-michael-flynn-millions

Michael Flynn is seeking restitution from the government to the tune of $50 million.

Donald Trump’s onetime national security adviser is now negotiating a settlement with his Department of Justice, claiming that he was unjustly prosecuted by former special counsel Robert Mueller for lying to the FBI about conversations with a Russian official. Flynn initially pleaded guilty and then fought the prosecution, eventually receiving a pardon from Trump in 2020.

Flynn later filed a lawsuit against the government for damages, only to have a federal judge dismiss the case in December last year. While the Biden administration fought Flynn’s case, the Trump administration seems open to a settlement.

  26. https://www.cnn.com/2025/11/14/politics/ghislaine-maxwell-lawyer-prison-fired

Employees of a minimum-security prison camp in Bryan, Texas, where convicted child-sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell is serving time have been terminated, one of Maxwell’s lawyers said Friday, after a whistleblower this week released to Rep. Jamie Raskin alleged correspondence between Maxwell and her lawyer.

The whistleblower also told Raskin that Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison, is in the process of preparing to file an application for commutation. According to an email that the whistleblower shared with the committee, Maxwell wrote to Saffian in early October that she planned to send materials “through the warden.”

*Hope the whistleblowers ChatGPT the winning lottery numbers tonight.

  28. https://www.rawstory.com/trump-white-house-music/

President Donald Trump’s favorite tunes blared at the White House on Friday, as nothing was on his public schedule except a trip to Mar-a-Lago.

Politico correspondent Jake Taylor noted on Friday afternoon that music from “The Phantom of the Opera” was playing so loudly it could be heard outside the White House.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently bragged on Trump’s behalf after a new speaker system was installed.

“‘The president wanted me to let all of you know that he is testing the speakers for what will be the best event in the history of the White House,” she told reporters. Leavitt said Trump could control the music from an iPad in the Oval Office.

    Updated on: November 14, 2025 / 11:12 AM EST / CBS News
The U.S. Coast Guard said it detected and tracked a Russian military spy ship just miles off the coast of Hawaii, the latest incident of a Russian vessel or plane operating close to the U.S.

The Russian intelligence vessel, Kareliya, was spotted about 15 nautical miles south of Oahu on Oct. 29, the Coast Guard said Thursday.

An HC-130 Hercules helicopter and a Coast Guard cutter were dispatched to monitor the ship by “conducting a safe and professional overflight and transiting near the vessel,” officials said.

The Kareliya was also spotted off Hawaii in 2021, USNI News reported at the time. In 2023, the U.S. Coast Guard also tracked a Russian ship near the Hawaiian Islands that was believed to be gathering intelligence.

Earlier this year, British officials said the Royal Navy was monitoring a Russian spy ship operating in U.K. waters. British Defense Secretary John Healey told Parliament the vessel was being “used for gathering intelligence and mapping the U.K.’s critical underwater infrastructure.”

  30. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/trump-administration/trump-issues-order-rolling-back-food-tariffs-rcna244045

President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order exempting a range of food imports — including coffee, beef and bananas — from his reciprocal tariff policies.

The White House said the president had “determined that certain agricultural products shall no longer be subject to the reciprocal tariffs.” Among the items being exempted are coffee, tea, tropical fruits, fruit juices, cocoa, oranges and tomatoes, the White House said.

In a statement Friday, Chris Swonger, the president and CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States — the industry’s national trade organization — criticized the administration’s decision to leave distilled spirits from the European Union and the United Kingdom off the list. He described it as “yet another blow to the U.S. hospitality industry just as the critical holiday season kicks into high gear.”

“EU and UK spirits, including Scotch, Cognac, and Irish Whiskey, are value-added agricultural products that cannot be produced in the United States,” Swonger said.

  31. https://www.themirror.com/news/politics/trump-shouts-quiet-reporter-who-1506219

President Donald Trump shouted “quiet” at a reporter who tried to question him about the recent revelations regarding the Epstein files.

“What did Epstein mean when he said you knew about the girls?” the journalist asked. He responded: “I know nothing about that. It’s really what did he mean when he spent all his time with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers? Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for many years. But he also saw strength because I was president, so he dictated memos to himself. Give me a break. You’ve got to find out what he knew with respect to Bill Clinton… all those people he knew, including JPMorgan Chase,” he said a day before he ordered the Justice Department to investigate Epstein’s ties to prominent Democrats.

When the reporter pushed the issue, the president shouted “quiet” as he took a question from another journalist. “If there is nothing incriminating in the files, why not—”

    “Quiet! Quiet!” he shouted.
