Craig – Echo is sending that cobbler info…and everything else…to the cloud for eternity.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/03/everything-you-say-to-your-echo-will-be-sent-to-amazon-starting-on-march-28/

Everything You Say to Your Echo Will Soon Be Sent to Amazon, and You Can’t Opt Out
Amazon is killing its “Do Not Send Voice Recordings” privacy feature on March 28 as the company aims to bolster Alexa+, its new subscription assistant.

Amazon is forcing Echo users to make a couple of tough decisions: Grant Amazon access to recordings of everything you say to Alexa or stop using an Echo; let Amazon save voice recordings and have employees listen to them or lose a feature set to become more advanced and central to the next generation of Alexa.

..,Amazon said that Echo users will no longer be able to set their devices to process Alexa requests locally and, therefore, avoid sending voice recordings to Amazon’s cloud. Amazon apparently sent the email to users with “Do Not Send Voice Recordings” enabled on their Echo. Starting on March 28, recordings of every command spoken to the Alexa living in Echo speakers and smart displays will automatically be sent to Amazon and processed in the cloud.

…the idea of a conglomerate being able to listen to personal requests made in your home is, simply, unnerving.

…Amazon has previously mismanaged Alexa voice recordings. In 2023, Amazon agreed to pay $25 million in civil penalties over the revelation that it stored recordings of children’s interactions with Alexa forever.

Other reasons people may be hesitant to trust Amazon with personal voice samples include the previous usage of Alexa voice recordings in criminal trials and Amazon paying a settlement in 2023 in relation to allegations that it allowed “thousands of employees and contractors to watch video recordings of customers’ private spaces” taken from Ring cameras, per the Federal Trade Commission.

anyone with their Echo device set to “Don’t save recordings” will see their already-purchased devices’ Voice ID feature bricked. Voice ID enables Alexa to do things like share user-specified calendar events, reminders, music, and more. Previously, Amazon has said that “if you choose not to save any voice recordings, Voice ID may not work.” As of March 28, broken Voice ID is a guarantee for people who don’t let Amazon store their voice recordings.

The Trump administration acknowledged in a court filing Monday that it had grabbed a Maryland father with protected legal status and mistakenly deported him to El Salvador, but said that U.S. courts lack jurisdiction to order his return from the megaprison where he’s now locked up.

Call your Senators & Reps: 202-224-3121 and demand that they stand up for your rights, and to preserve SS and Veterans benefits the way Cory Booker is doing.

I just blasted my Republican Senators (got their voicemail) and told them I wish I had a Senator who would stand up for me like Senator Booker, instead of voting to increase bank fees and support the Russian agent in the WH.

I hope you will call and commend Senator Booker to your Senators & Rep, as well.

Jim Jordan is leading the charge to impeach judges who decided against tRUMPsky, even if they were appointed by him.

The detention centers in the YS are also “for profit,”
and there’s a clause in the US Constitution that allows for slave labor of the incarcerated…which will be the only thing that remains, because only MAGAts will be allowed to have pew-pews very soon.

The ~beautify~ DC royalties decree wanted to speed up concealed carry permits for DC, and wanted to recruit folks to come there.

Military, foreign or domestic, step on up. Cholesterol, LFG. Golf course lightning, come on down.

“When did “soldier” become “war fighter”?”

as i mentioned to BiD, it was popularized among the mostly alt-right but not exclusively ex-special-forces-adjacent podcasting community

…used to marginalize women, gay, and trans service people because “obviously” those cohorts can’t be “warfighters”, right?

https://www.newsweek.com/usps-mail-deliveries-shipping-post-office-2053242

Changes are coming in multiple phases beginning Tuesday, April 1, as part of the ongoing “Delivering for America” 10-year plan that USPS said has led to $2.2 billion in annual transportation cost reductions and a 50 million hour decrease for workers, or $2.5 billion in annual savings.

USPS will officially alter service standards for first-class mail, periodicals, marketing mail, and package services that are estimated to save at minimum $36 billion over the next decade through reductions in transportation, mail and package processing, and real estate costs.

About 75 percent of First-Class Mail will keep its current service standards, according to USPS, and 14 percent will see an improvement in delivery times. Some individuals could experience slower times; however, USPS has stated that delivery times won’t exceed the current five-day service standard for First-Class Mail.

*It’s NOT federally funded. It saved the government no money. It’s a scam to push privatization.

If you feel like it, a message to Booker’s office thanking him. Definitely, call your Senators, though; after hours, you won’t get an intern, just voicemail. Go for it! 202-224-3121. Thank You

Elon Musk Claims He Sold X To xAI, The Artificial Intelligence He Founded, X Asks How Is This Not “Money Laundering?”

Elon Musk Claims He Sold X To xAI, The Artificial Intelligence He Founded, X Asks How Is This Not “Money Laundering?”
According to the website, it’s an all-stock deal, with xAI valued at $80 billion and the mess that is X worth $30 billion. This is $14 billion cheaper than when Phony Stark reluctantly acquired the platform, then called Twitter, for $44 billion in 2022.
“XAI and X’s futures are intertwined. Today, we officially take the step to combine the data, models, compute, distribution and talent,” Musk wrote in his post on X. “The combined company will deliver smarter, more meaningful experiences to billions of people while staying true to our core mission of seeking truth and advancing knowledge.”

Both companies share resources. xAI’s intelligence models are trained based on the data it gathers from posts from X users. The companies also share engineers and the chatbot Grok.

*So, someone buys xAI stock on Thursday, and on Friday they find X attached to it…and Elon just values it at whatever. FRAUD!

https://www.thedailybeast.com/fing-idiot-mike-waltz-was-also-using-personal-gmail-for-national-security-work/

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and a top aide shared sensitive information over their personal Gmail accounts, according to The Washington Post.

The commercial email platform is less secure than Signal, the encrypted messaging app that Waltz drew condemnation for using to discuss a military strike last month.

The Waltz aide, a National Security Council (NSC) official, used his Gmail account to discuss “sensitive military positions and powerful weapons systems relating to an ongoing conflict” with other government agencies, wrote the Post, which obtained the emails.

Unlike the NSC staffer, other officials involved in the exchanges were using government-issued accounts.

The items Waltz had sent to his Gmail was less sensitive—however, they included potentially exploitable information, like his schedule and other work documents, multiple officials told the Post.

“Unless you are using GPG, email is not end-to-end encrypted, and the contents of a message can be intercepted and read at many points, including on Google’s email servers,” Eva Galperin, director of cybersecurity at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, told the Post.

Glad Wisconsin rejected Elon. Unfortunately, Florida is the usual disappointing story. I was hoping MAGAt Mike would lose his speakership. Although, eleven Repugz revolted today, which is why he shut down the House. They should vote for a new SOTH and give it to AOC. Really light it up! It would be MAGAts gone wild. Well, I guess that’s their usual demeanor.

https://www.newschannel5.com/news/newschannel-5-investigates/this-isnt-your-granddads-kkk-inside-the-influential-hate-group-thats-expanding-in-tennessee

From their participation in a conference in Middle Tennessee, to the compound being built in East Tennessee, Patriot Front has become a growing presence in Tennessee. Who are they?

Behind the scenes, Patriot Front is preparing for war, building a compound in Tennessee where they train men for battles that sometimes play out on the streets of America.

Known for their flash mob protests that suddenly spring out the backs of rental trucks, Patriot Front members wear white gaiters to hide their faces. They are also active in plastering communities across the country with their hate-filled flyers and graffiti.
“We are Americans, we are not White Americans – because there are no other kind of Americans than those who are White and from Europe,” Rousseau argued in a recent podcast interview.

“When you get within their private spaces online, members of Patriot Front worship Hitler,” Jeff Tischauser noted.

“They deny the Holocaust. They use a tremendous amount of racial slurs between each other.”

Both were among 31 Patriot Front members arrested three years ago in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, accused of plotting to create a riot at a Pride celebration.
“They wanted to basically promote a fight,” said Coeur d’Alene prosecutor Ryan Hunter. “They wanted to get people to respond, make them angry, make them attack them – and their history is that they then try to play that they are the victims.”

Our NewsChannel 5 investigation discovered that Elliott is one of the people behind a 122-acre Patriot Front compound in Tellico Plains, Tennessee – located between Chattanooga and Knoxville.

Patriot Front will claim they are non-violent, but they are training in mixed martial arts,” Tischauser said, adding: “Then, when they are confronted by an activist, they are not using these skills that they are learning – these mixed martial arts skills – to de-escalate the situation.

“They are using their training in mixed martial arts to escalate the confrontations and to hurt people.”

*Who owns the 122 acres, who is paying h got the construction, and do these guys have 9-5s?
