Would be funny if Republicans complicate certification because they can’t elect a Speaker

Craig – I keep my New Year dreams of  the magats having a few of their own somehow leave and there are open seats leaving the Dems in the majority.  At least for a few weeks.  Speaker Jefferies sounds good.

Will Trump call this “genius”?

David lit our first candle with a prayer in Hebrew last night (of course I wouldn’t know if he got it right or not).

I am going to make my first ever batch of Latke. Will post recipe if they’re good.

Another absurd holiday message from our soon-to-be WORST PRESIDENT EVER (his first term is already 4th from the bottom in C-SPAN’s poll of historians)

Just surpassed my number of X followers on Bluesky — more than 8,000  (keeping X just for trolling the trolls)..

No surprise but our majority child-like voters apparently like kookie and kakie. They think it’s funny, like a fart joke.

I would like your latke recipe, Craig. We have a whole week to keep up the noshing.

Fucking moron.  “We” lost 36,000 people? Most of the workers on the canal were from the Caribbean – not from “our” country. However, Google disagrees.

An estimated 27,609 people died during the construction of the Panama Canal:

French construction

An estimated 22,000 workers died during the French construction effort, which took place in the 1880s. Many of these deaths were caused by malaria and yellow fever, which were not fully understood at the time.

American construction

An estimated 5,609 workers died during the American construction effort. The death toll was lower during the American construction due to better sanitation, medical care, and safety controls.

And so does 360 Training.

How Many People Died Building the Panama Canal?
The Panama Canal’s death toll is about 30,000, making it the construction project with the highest documented fatality rate in the world.

In other words, the Panama Canal is the world’s deadliest construction project. It killed 40% of its workforce (408.12 out of every thousand workers).

Most of these fatalities were due to infectious diseases common in the tropics, namely yellow fever and malaria.

But the construction was pretty dangerous – they had to blast through the mountainous jungle and contend with mudslides during the rainy season. Even once they figured out how to control the mosquito population, workers faced drowning, electrocution, and prematurely igniting dynamite.

I hate the thought of a moron for president again after 4 years of relative sanity.

What it is from here on: insane stuff happening and aberrant responses from our so-called leaders.

How about them pyramids? How many died there? Who should they now belong to?

More past is prologue.

The Fronde represented the final attempt of the French nobility to confront the king, and ended in its humiliation. In the long run, the Fronde served to strengthen royal authority, but weakened the national economy. The Fronde facilitated the emergence of absolute monarchy.

My first President was FDR.  Of all the ones since, Trump is rock bottom, and I can’t think of any before FDR who were worse other than maybe Jackson for genocide so far.

In CSPAN poll of historians only James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson and Franklin Pierce were below Trump.

Trump is as much of a racist as any of the other three at the bottom of the barrel.  Johnson was an alcoholic, so might beat him there.  Still Trump has four years to become more despicable than his current state.

So much starting to churn in the magat world.  Ever watch a blender mix up a bunch of stuff.  Much of it goes round and round and turns into mush.  But, there is often one little chunk of stuff that does not go in.  It bounces up and around but not down.  Right now the magat world is like that blender.  sfb is the little piece of brown that so far has not been blended in.  We are seeing the start of slow speed with musky and trump talking about others and now LL is joining in against musky.  Oh this is good

Why isn’t David Hogg listed as a candidate for DNC Chair, when Marianne Williamson is given digital ink?

Didn’t realize he was running for vice.
Thanks, Craig.  Definitely time for some new thinking.   I do like the idea of a hard-ass like Rham as Chair, but it’s a different world and it’s changing faster than most realize.

We are doing no sugar January (it might be downright bitter after noon on the 20th), so it’s veggies & hummus until the Super Bowl.

BID, are you making the hummus and, if so, would you have a recipe to share?

I drive by the exit to Warren Gamaliel Harding’s home several times a year. I was fascinated how he ran a campaign from his front porch, drawing thousands for the events, while men with giant megaphones relayed the key points to the multitudes as far back as 2 miles, which in my opinion may have been a stretch. After the speech, his lawn was just a dirt patch, worn away by tightly packed-in admirers. Harding ranks 37th. Not good.  Ohio has contributed 7 USA Presidents.
Trump picked his VP from here too.  God help the nation if Vance becomes number 8.
