  1. If I had JD Vance’s ambition I’d make this debate about myself, prepare the way for my own presidential campaign, which starts right after the boss loses next month.

  2. 60 Minutes — Trump Campaign Dueling X Posts

    So Trump spokesman spills the real reason they’re dodging 60 Minutes — they were going to do live fact checking, can’t have that...

    Fake News. 60 Minutes begged for an interview, even after they were caught lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop back in 2020. There were initial discussions, but nothing was ever scheduled or locked in.They also insisted on doing live fact checking, which is unprecedented.

    60 Minutes
    @60Minutes

    A Programming Note: 60 Minutes is scheduled to air a primetime election special on a Monday edition of the broadcast on October 7 at 8 PM. For over half a century, 60 Minutes has invited the Democratic and Republican tickets to appear on our broadcast as Americans head to the polls.

    This year, both the Harris and Trump campaigns agreed to sit down with 60 Minutes. Vice President Harris will speak with correspondent Bill Whitaker. After initially accepting 60 Minutes’ request for an interview with Scott Pelley, former President Trump’s campaign has decided not to participate. Pelley will address this Monday evening.

    Our election special will broadcast the Harris interview on Monday as planned. Our original invitation to former President Donald Trump to be interviewed on 60 Minutes stands.

  3. And somehow Walz could get it in our heads that this weird creepy dude would likely become president because at 78 Trump is the OLDEST PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE EVER

  4. Harris Campaign Senior Adviser David Plouffe
    @davidplouffe

    Afraid of the debate stage. Afraid of 60 minutes. And his campaign team – after the last three days of increasingly unhinged and unstable ranting at his rallies – is clearly afraid of exposing him beyond comfortable confines.

  5. CNN’s Brian Stelter follows up..

    New reporting: Contrary to the Trump camp’s assertion that no “60 Minutes” interview was scheduled, Scott Pelley was actually slated to interview Trump at Mar a Lago on Thursday and attend Trump’s rally in Butler, PA on Saturday, according to two sources.

  6. Oops. Republican congressman sends out his review a bit early…

    Rep. Jack Kimble
    @RepJackKimble
    I haven’t seen much coverage of last night’s Vice-Presidential debate in the liberal media. This doesn’t really surprise me as JD Vance absolutely destroyed Walz. I don’t see how voters can vote for the Democrats after that debacle despite the biased moderators trying to help the Democrats.

  7. On child care, I’m surprised no candidate has proposed tax credit to corporations that provide on site child care.  It is such a major cost for employees.  Military bases do it usually preschool through middle school busing to local schools.  JBLM here in WA has a great free program.

  8. And that only an Quayle and Stockdale were less popular than JDouché. Even Palin – Palin fuhchrissake – was more popular. 😂

  9. Walz did not answer the question … he went right to the “talking points” I assume he was told he absolutely had to get in at some point, so he just went right for them off the bat.  Vance seems calmer.

  10. JD is coming off like a sleezy salesman.   The glued-on half-smile is weird. When he looks toward the camera while Tim is speaking, he just looks like a creepy a-hole.

  11. CBS knew they couldn’t live fact-check tonight’s debate, because…JD.   Jeez.   He lies with such ease, just like a sociopath.

  12. Ladies wasting everyone’s time saying their time’s up after they finished speaking.

  13. swing voters hate the harsh partisanship Vance is touting. he thinks he’s talking to only a FOX audience

    Walz is coming across more genuine and believable

  14. Disadvantage of being old.  I remember when moving back and forth across the border for shopping, work and school by both American and Mexican citizens was fairly easy.

  15. learning more every day … didn’t know that rising house prices, unaffordable housing is due to immigrants in the country??

  16. Mike Murphy
    @murphymike
    Walz started nervous, wobbly. But improving, relaxing. Vance robo-bullshitting.  Old Vivek trick: Talk total nonsense but do it really fast to vibe as smart. Breathing through his gills apparently.  Sloppy tie so far. Nothing changing…

  17. Smirky, side-eye JD.  Lies, lies, lies.

    I wish they would bring up JD admitting he makes up things if it serves him.

  18. Vance robo-bullshitting

    lol that’s a good term for it, Vance speaks like everything is an appearance on Tucker Carlson

  19. I wish they would bring up JD admitting he makes up things if it serves him.

    Walz slipped in a reference

  20. David Plouffe: “Walz dominating JD Vance on the immigration exchange with undecided voters in a western battleground state. Reminding these voters Donald Trump built only 2 percent of the wall and Mexico didn’t pay a dime strongest moment of the debate.”

  21. So many YOUNG WOMEN would love to have families?  JD, How “young”? What about men? Do none of them want families? And, says who? The government?

  22. THANK YOU WALZ ….. for making the point that should be said laud and often …. we are not pro abortion, we are pro WOMEN making their own decisions

  23. well i don’t think this debate will move the needle either way, unless JD comes off as creepy to everyone else as he does to me 🤷‍♂️

  24. I don’t think shay-dee went to Catholic grammar school. Nuns would have knocked the brass tacks out of him.

  25. Mike Murphy

    @murphymike

    In the Weird Optics department… Vance looks like he’s wearing eyeliner and Walz’ resting face looks like he’s just seen a ghost.

  26. Walz needs to explain that there are no late term abortions …. there are health care needs for women whose pregnancies go bad late term with a fetus that has no chance of survival, and when the child is delivered with no chance of living, the parents and doctors decide the degree to which “life prolonging efforts” are going to be taken in a hopeless situation.

  27. he’s talking about the kids he told to “shut up a damn minute” when daddy trump called

    his words, not mine

  28. Worse moment for Walz was his fumbling response to the follow-up question on Tiananmen Square. Seemed like he thought he had survived it, didn’t expect another question. Not gonna be a good clip. Deer in headlights.

  29. I have a great grandchild born at 22 weeks.  Doctors saved his life and that of his mother with rather heroic measures.  He is now a bright, happy little boy who will need speech therapy.  She will never have another child naturally so they just adopted a girl.  Thank goodness for doctors.

    “J.D. Vance’s Stolen Valor: ‘He Puts on Poverty Like You Put on Makeup’

    “Vance was raised in middle-class comfort. At one point, his parents enjoyed a six-figure income. And he was spared economic distress by a broad safety net of extended family that provided him with frequent out-of-state vacations, golf lessons, a modeling audition, and therapy. Most importantly, he benefited from a buffer of generational wealth created by his “Papaw,” who retired with a “lucrative pension” from his union job at the local steel plant.”

    “There’s a hollow core at the center of J.D. Vance’s origin story — his claim that he “grew up poor”“…the memoir also includes at least one anecdote, presented as Vance’s personal experience, that appears to have been resurrected from an infamous Ronald Regan attack on welfare recipients. “He’s just recycling old Republican saws, or tropes,” argues Lennard Davis, a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

    A modeling audition? Therapy? His book was filled with lies.

  31. Not a lot of memorable clips so far. Think we’re back to our long history of boring debates that make no difference. We got spoiled with the last two.

  32. Tim great answer on health insurance. It is true. Shay-dee is lying his ass off. We oldsters remember. Kids will have to learn the hard way if they lose it.

    They will get kicked off parent’s insurance at 18 if they don’t go to college full-time.

    We’re not going back.

  33. MJ

    This taking of Federal lands is just a resurrection of the Reagan era “Sagebrush Rebellion”.  Wikipedia has a good article starting point on the subject.

  34. It’s beyond annoying he’s insisting the “Harris-Biden” administration. Assaholism.

  35. I think media will give Vance the win, and Pumpkin Head is not going to like that one bit, can’t handle JD getting better reviews than he did. Might even provoke him to do the second debate. Also, I can see Dems getting panicky, which is good thing — overconfidence was setting in (myself included).

  36. i feel like some things JD said will piss off the MAGA loons

    yeah the maggers aren’t going to like his olive branches

  37. Memorable clip: JD arguing with moderators about Springfield, OH.   Harris campaign should use that with the clip from CNN when he admits he makes things up aka lies.

  38. I wish Walz had responded a little more forcefully pointing out that Vance is arguing that the spreading of misinformation is an acceptable form of speech and said that he can say all he wants that calling people out of the spreading of misinformation is censorship but IT.IS.NOT …. it is an attempt to separate fact from fiction.

  39. I wonder if T is seething at Vance being cordial, at his occasional “I agree with you Governor” and in particular at his refusal to say that the election was rigged/stolen from T

  40. lol yeah ive observed that most people tend to see through Eddie Haskel-esque behavior, except for Mrs. Cleaver of course

    i’m biased, but i honestly didn’t hear anything from JD that would influence an undecided voter, “gobbledygook” is a good description of his performance

    Tim came off like a human-being that’s not great at debating, he did alright, though

  41. I couldn’t see that Vance got any sound bites which might sound like anything but re-hashed Trump lies.     Nothing at all original thoughts.

  42. I doubt any of those kids on Jacob’s bit understands the first or last thing about their health care insurance coverage.

    Marcus is the smartest one who understands the difference in power between the offices of president and vice president which JD Vance does not comprehend.

    https://www.axios.com/2024/10/02/trump-us-soldiers-injuries-iran-strike-iraq-base-2020

    “Former President Trump on Tuesday referred to brain injuries more than 100 U.S. troops sustained in an Iranian attack on a base in Iraq as “headaches.”

    “What does injured mean? You mean because they had a headache? Because the bombs never hit the fort?”

    “And if you were a truthful reporter, which you’re not, you would tell the following: None of those very accurate missiles hit our fort,” he added. “They all hit outside, and there was nobody hurt other than the sound was loud and some people said that hurt, and I accept that.”

    Do you really want this orange idiot to be your Commander In Chief, again? He does not care about you! Vote blue!

  44. Bring that bird in, BiD, am gonna rely on your fact-checking for the duration 🫡 🇺🇸

    Harris/Walz 2024 let’s goooooo 🦅

  45. The clips of Walz on the socials are working well.  He does not look wobbly.  He’s engaging and talking right to you, which did not play the same with the long camera angle.

  46. JDouché may have edged Coach Walz in the debate by a point or two, but Tim picked up 18 favorability points to 9 by JDouché. 5 weeks from now, to the extent it matters at all, which of those two metrics will matter among the few folks who are still undecided? My guess is the latter.
