silver lining is it could ease the way for DOJ to acquire more evidence to prove the conspiracy, to bolster the mueller charges and to establish a rock solid RICO case against the disgraced twice impeached former guy.

however, this one is bigly age-ist with a touch more mean than just polite reformed repug diss.

BTW, kudos to the first commentator who wrote upon seeing it:

Marjorie Taylor Greene roasted for ‘gazpacho police’ remark | TheHill

[…]

The internet quickly jumped on the congresswoman’s bungled metaphor.

“First, Nazi comparisons are unbecoming of a Congresswoman,” tweeted Holly McCormack, a Democrat who is running against Greene in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District. “Second, I am not surprised Marge does not know the difference between gazpacho and Gestapo.”

“Overheard: Marjorie Taylor Greene keeps talking about Nancy Pelosi’s ‘Gazpacho’ and now I want the recipe,” tweeted George Takei, who plays Sulu in the “Star Trek” franchise.

George Conway, the conservative lawyer and columnist, quickly changed his Twitter profile name to “Oficial de Policía de Gazpacho Conway.”

And progressive Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) tweeted that Greene “clearly banned all books from her house years ago” in reference to the ongoing conservative push to ban from schools books deemed sexually explicit or racially charged.

Greene appeared to address the controversy on Wednesday night when she tweeted, “No soup for those who illegally spy on Members of Congress, but they will be thrown in the goulash.”

If there’s a way to roll up Junior and Ivanker, that would be most appreciated by all of us who prefer democracy to fascism.

I keep forgetting that the Olympics are underway. When I do remember, there are seldom sporting events taking place. Talk, talk, talk. Pre-taped package to get to know an Olympian. Talk, talk, talk.

The Capitol dining room has its famous, navy bean soup. For awhile, it served “freedom fries.” I move that they add Nancy’s gazpacho to the menu.

Hmmm, and mgt retorted with a soup nazi comment, like a nazi would do. Mmmm, chocolate retort.

back in the soup, these quips in today’s the guardian:

Predictably, Greene’s apparent gaffe prompted a wave of internet hilarity and jokes.

“Gazpacho is a cold tomato soup. Gestapo is the Nazi police force. Neither of these things are right,” tweeted political journalist Jake Sherman.

“How dare MTG blame Gazpacho, when we all know that Vichyssoise Violence is the real culprit,” quipped podcast host Emily Brandwin.

Sarakshi Rai, a senior journalist at the Hill, added: “I was wondering why everybody in DC was tweeting about gazpacho and now I’m just craving some for dinner.”

Why are there only two, intentionally cold soups? Are there more? Ah, we are so distracted by gaffes. And yet…the stick. When I think of Dan Quayle (which isn’t very often), I think of the “potatoe” incident.

Team USA wins gold in the inaugural mixed team aerial freestyle event. Not a sport I generally care about, but it did make for god TV. Congrats to the team.

Dan Quayle got a second chance and came thru in the clutch.

Pretty sad, really; but so very American: work your way up to somehow being Vice-President of the United States and all they remember is “potatoe”.

Maggie Haberman book: Flushed papers found clogging Trump WH toilet – Axios

Cover of Maggie Haberman's book

[…]
Why it matters: The revelation by Haberman, whose coverage as a New York Times White House correspondent was followed obsessively by Trump, adds a vivid new dimension to his lapses in preserving government documents. Axios was provided an exclusive first look at some of her reporting.
Haberman reports Trump has told people that since leaving office, he has remained in contact with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un — whose “love letters,” as Trump once called them, were among documents the National Archives retrieved from Mar-a-Lago.
Zoom out: The news of White House toilet-flushing comes as the National Archives has reportedly asked the Biden Justice Department to examine Trump’s handling of White House records, amid the congressional investigation into the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol.
The Washington Post reports that National Archives officials “suspected Trump had possibly violated laws concerning the handling of government documents.” The National Archives later retrieved 15 boxes from Mar-a-Lago, The Post reported.
Archives officials found possible classified material in the returned boxes, The New York Times learned.
While in office, the former president blithely flouted the Presidential Records Act, which required him to preserve written communications concerning his official duties.
Trump routinely tore up documents and after leaving office brought substantial written materials back to Mar-a-Lago.
A Trump spokesman didn’t respond to a request for comment about the plumbing matter.
Zoom in: Haberman’s “Confidence Man” — subtitled “The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America” — will be published Oct. 4 by Penguin Press

sturge, that could be said about a lot of the ones that have been written.  bolton’s hold back during 1st impeachment for sure had an impact but others of the inner circle have as well.

McDonald’s spends years trying to convince people its main product does not taste like cardboard and then we learn the former guy eats paper and cardboard (some of the classified materials are in cardboard like folders or covers).  He also eats lots of McDonald’s main product.  Lots of people are wondering?  Does he want extra ketchup or not?

Sturgeone

lol…………….I don’t know what’s up with this year…..I’ve eaten McDonald’s crap TWICE already, and it’s been years since I’ve had that crap. Does not bode well.

Pat…..seems like every squirrel who’s written a book during the last few years has held back useful stuff to try to sell books.

Pogo…  I have a Mac.  So when I write any post (including this one)…  before I hit the “post comment” button… I go to my toolbar.. click on edit… and then copy my post to save it.  If it’s blown away… I just paste the saved comment into a new window.  Sometimes I forget to do it…  and I wind up feeling like you do.

Sturgeone – I ate a couple of McDonalds last year just because it was only place open that served food at the odd hours I would be around and be in a place that I was driving by.  The app does get free fries on friday.  Sad thing for me is I remember way back in the very early sixties when a McDonalds opened and a block over a Burger Chef did the same.  Oh what delights one could get for less than a dollar.  Too bad the delights are not the same, sixty years has changed what industrialized food tastes like.

ps… I’m still waiting for the definitive book to be written about everything that trumpty did while in office.  When that book is written… I’ll buy it.

Ah, yes, McDonald’s back in the day.  $.15 for a hamburger.  We didn’t get a Burger King for years – the competition was Jack’s hamburgers (same basic stuff as McDonald’s, but better milkshakes) and Krystal at $.10/ burger, but they were 2/3 the size.  Had one friend who worked at McDonald’s in the late 60s when I was still in HS, and he’d close on Saturdays and give us the “expired” fries.  We’d go up the road and get malts from Pearl, the mom of another friend who had a kinda shakes and snacks place that was milk, ice cream, malt and flavors and they were remarkably good. I think I gained a pound just reminiscing about that stuff.

Renee, I’m generally on my iPhone when I lose stuff – I think it is because of how it treats different open sites as I go from one folder to the other to cut and paste.  I don’t have that problem on my computer and it very seldom happens on my iPad.  I do get the “server stopped responding” or “Cannot parse entry” on all of them – so I can’t conclude it’s the devices. Those are generally OK because they don’t wipe the entry away.

And BiD, Word on an iPhone is not really a viable option and since I can’t save both the entry and the text from the 3rd party source, I can’t figure a reasonable workaround for the phone.

One of my diversion from life where SFB still commands all the attention is a YouTube channel Man’s Best Friend.  He is an animal groomer in Serbia.  People bring in rescue dogs which are in horrible condition and he cuts of the mats and overgrowth, bathes the dogs and makes the little ones happy.  A wonderful man with the most gentle of hands.

The first fasty food joint we got was Hardee’s……they moved in dead across the street from The Patio,  a fifties-style drive-in like Arnold’s in Happy Days where all the kids hang out driving their cars around and around–Curb service, girls on skates…..their burgers were definitely not 15 cents.  But then as a gimmick The Patio started doing a 12 cent burger…..lol…….it wasn’t much of a burger, but at least they were fighting back and they made a lot of news.   They battled to a standstill and managed to peacefully co-existm though both long gone now.

Caribou Barbie is flailing in her trial against the NYT.  Federal Rules of Evidence are tripping her up.  From Wapo article.

Citing language in the editorial [linking the fundraising map on her website to political violence like the shooting of Gabby Giffords]* saying that Sarah PAC had “circulated” that map, Turkel asked Palin if that was the case. “No,” responded Palin. “No. It was put on my website. The media circulated it.” But if that argument holds sway with the jury, just think of the arguments that the Times’s attorneys could make: The New York Times didn’t circulate this erroneous editorial. It was put on our website. Subscribers circulated it.

Still another lowlight came when David Axelrod, an attorney for the Times, was attempting to establish that people like Palin — politicians on a national stage — must expect scrutiny. Axelrod noted that Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) choice of Palin as his running mate in 2008 prompted criticism of her tenure as governor of Alaska. “I didn’t have time nor desire to read what was being written about me while I was jumping on that campaign trail,” retorted Palin. But seconds later, she seemed familiar with that coverage. In response to Axelrod’s reference to attacks on “her record” in Alaska, Palin said, “That was the problem: My record wasn’t being reported.”

Even Palin’s attempt to show some hockey-mom authenticity backfired. At one point, she referenced the witness stand as the “penalty box.” Perhaps she’d forgotten that it was she who filed this suit.

* my inserted explanation.
Not sure whether she or MTG is channeling the other, but they seem to have gone to the same school of unclear thinking.

“The protests could cross the US border, too. American officials are warning that similar rallies soon could happen in the United States, where right-wing media outlets have raised that prospect and offered positive coverage of the protests. Sunday’s Super Bowl in Southern California could draw such crowds, they’ve said.”

This is why we can’t have anything nice.
