With the FBI listening in, Michael Cohen (Ben Stiller) fields calls from Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin), Rudy Giuliani (Kate McKinnon), Melania Trump (Cecily Strong), Ivanka Trump (Scarlett Johansson) and Jared Kushner (Jimmy Fallon) and Stormy Daniels.

Revealed: Trump team hired spy firm for ‘dirty ops’ on Iran arms deal

Israeli agency told to find incriminating material on Obama diplomats who negotiated deal with Tehran

Aides to Donald Trump, the US president, hired an Israeli private intelligence agency to orchestrate a “dirty ops” campaign against key individuals from the Obama administration who helped negotiate the Iran nuclear deal, the Observer can reveal.

People in the Trump camp contacted private investigators in May last year to “get dirt” on Ben Rhodes, who had been one of Barack Obama’s top national security advisers, and Colin Kahl, deputy assistant to Obama, as part of an elaborate attempt to discredit the deal.

The extraordinary revelations come days before Trump’s 12 May deadline to either scrap or continue to abide by the international deal limiting Iran’s nuclear programme.
Jack Straw, who as foreign secretary was involved in earlier efforts to restrict Iranian weapons, said: “These are extraordinary and appalling allegations but which also illustrate a high level of desperation by Trump and [the Israeli prime minister] Benjamin Netanyahu, not so much to discredit the deal but to undermine those around it.”

Ahhhh, Mozart – played beautifully.

RR, looks inevitable now. The Celtics defense is dominating. I like their chances as much as I hate to say that.

curious as to whom this complaint is assigned, how soon or whether it even gets assigned at all.

excerpt from wapo:

[….]
Our watchdog group filed a complaint with the Department of Justice and the Office of Government Ethics on Thursday, asking officials to investigate whether Giuliani’s disclosures show that Trump violated federal ethics laws or laws against making false statements. The Ethics in Government Act requires filers of public financial disclosure forms, including the president, to disclose any liabilities worth more than $10,000. Giuliani repeatedly acknowledged on Wednesday and Thursday that Trump owed Cohen $250,000, accounting for the $130,000 payment to Daniels and associated taxes and fees. But Trump’s public financial disclosure report last summer didn’t list any debts to Cohen. A knowing failure to report such a debt constitutes a federal crime, and failure to properly report that liability can result in penalties up to $50,000, as well as imprisonment. Moreover, lying on a financial disclosure report can be the basis for federal false statements charges under 18 USC 1001.

That complaint built on an earlier one we had filed, raising the question of whether Trump had an undisclosed liability to Cohen. In his attempt to advocate for his client, Giuliani seemingly confirmed that supposition. Federal authorities should investigate, including Robert Khuzami, the deputy U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. He and the public integrity section of that office are investigating Cohen for the Daniels payment and other issues, and this acknowledged loan fits neatly with that. Alternatively, Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein could assign it elsewhere, including to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III.

sneaky feeling somehow the fixer’s extra cash reported below fits into the complaint story above

newsweek:
President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer is under review after federal prosecutors found he gained at least $774,000 from two financial transactions during the 2016 campaign in an effort to help Trump, according to public records reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
Michael Cohen’s transactions could be part of a much larger investigation by the Manhattan federal prosecutors and the FBI, who are looking into Cohen to see if he violated laws in raising money for the campaign and hiding information about Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Real-estate records cited by the Wall Street Journal found that Cohen almost doubled the amount on a bank credit line linked to his apartment in Manhattan and was able to increase the amount to borrow by $245,000. Another real-estate record found that Cohen accessed $529,000 three months earlier from a new mortgage cosigned on a new condo at Trump World Tower in New York.

A beautiful morning glory to the trail.  I saw a meteor in the night sky…dust from Haley’s comet.

The lyrids of a few weeks ago were puny…very little action like the aquarid show.

Thank you, Jace and Patd.  Humor with quality music.

The difference between snl and roseanne? — roseanne has become hack, a joke that is not funny.  SNL has quality satire and imitation.  roseanne and her fake teeth, $500 highlights and about a gabillion dollars in face work?  Yeah, she is the face of the poor and sick boomer who got kicked to the curb by goppers.  Hah!

Her twitter tirade with Stormy this week?   A smackdown.

The mulberry street dracula (thank you Seth Meyers), aka rudy g, is part of the trump fierce pushback.  The confusion and deflection conjured-up to mirror the out-of-control campaign that stole the election.  All of the fired humans from the WH have ended-up either working on the trump 2020 campaign or for the rnc including trump’s former body guard.  One target, one goal — Mueller.

AND it has not been a good week for Mr. Mueller.  First with ellis sounding-off.

Second with the ruskie troll farm goes after Mueller files and delay.

Since campaign finance laws may have been violated by cohen?  trump’s nemesis, Rosie becomes a target.

Rosie O’Donnell targeted by alt-right media about campaign donations.

Plus the incredible opines and headlines bleeding through as real news on media sites.   Who knows what is going-on in the churches?  The evangelical networks?   A civil war over a right of a few followers to rape and pillage the earth as God intended.   Only the white and the reborn to ascend into the heaven of the US of AA.  After these tax cuts?  Look for another credit downgrading like 2011.

The Chunnel opened on this date in 1994. Imagine, linking people & places instead of building walls.

Also on this date: Oh the humanity!

The Hindenburg exploded over a New Jersey airfield. My Gram’s cousin Julia, a great spunky lady, was there & witnessed the event. Photographers/newsreel people were given the gift of capturing a really cool iconic moment in time.

This is nuclear week.

From the DPRK —  North Korea on Sunday criticized what it called “misleading” claims that President Trump’s policy of maximum political pressure and sanctions are what drove Pyongyang to the negotiating table. The new comments come with just weeks to go before Mr. Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are expected to hold their first-ever summit.
The North’s official news agency quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman warning the claims are a “dangerous attempt” to ruin a budding detente on the Korean Peninsula after Kim’s summit late last month with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.  (from cbs news.)
AND regarding iran? Kerry runs shadow diplomacy on the iran deal and gets roiled by right leaning media, Logan Act is mentioned.  trump to pull-out of the deal on the 12th.  bolton is running the show at this time.   Why this cat and mouse show from trump?  Really tired of the games and guessing…no transparency of the office.   No truth.

Thanks, Jace we love Sunday mornings with your musical selection it is a great way to start off the day and maybe even the week.

We are having people over for lunch today and most of them are vegetarians.  So we are having grande aioli, corn souffle and chocolate cake.  I hope they aren’t vegans.

So according to today’s NYTimes John McCain does not want the Dotard to come to his funeral but it’s ok if Mike Pence comes –the eternal problem with John McCain

Just for the record –Celtics 76’ers..who cares the Warriors will still win it all despite the embarrassing lose in NO

Local, political show – Cronyn bemoaned what happened at Parkland…and then said rise speaking out since the mass shooting are just opportunists.

They also had college kids from students march on telling them that they are actively getting others registered and pushing for a universal background check/no loopholes. Both were wearing “We Are The 97%” which should make Repugz nervous.

Question:  Why not just require everyone who owns a gun to register as part of a militia?  Since  the Second Amendment says nothing about hunting for food or personal safety, why not just require something of gun owners?

Jace…  love the selection!  love pi-ano music…

KGC…  I’d never be foolish enough to count out a team with LeBron James on it.  And if the Celtics do make it to the championship finals along with the Warriors…  the Warriors had better win it.  If the Celtics take it with their 2 biggest stars out for the rest of the season, that would be a huuuuge embarrassment for GS.

question:  any more news out there about this curiosity?  was it fact checked?

last week on mojo avenatti (starting at 4 minutes in on this vid) said that Cohen’s 3 clients identified by Cohen’s lawyer in court were trump, trump org and hannity…  not listing broidy.

do we have here a cover-up of a cover-up?   and did the big rnc donor fall on the sword for the twit?

Jace, loved your selection for this morning/week. Mozart is Mozart as Mozart is Mozart.

Take a look/listen to the rendition of K466 down below. I have absolutely no doubt that the pianist/conductor began her love affair with Mozart as a young teen by playing your selection for today.

Jace – A lovely selection, as always.  (It sounds a little Russian-y in one section.)

If Repugz are counting on a good economy (temporary tax-cuts & low unemployment), they are missing the point, especially with regard to new voters.

High tuition debt, low wages, still lacking healthcare benefits that are affordable & widely-accepted by docs/clinics.

I think the wedge issue for remaining Trumpsky-ites is immigration.  That is the thing that will keep folks with Trumpsky & Trumpsky-like candidates. The anti-choice crowd won’t budge, as they wait for their messiah, Putz Pence.

In fact, only the base of both parties and young voters are energized.  I don’t see a huge turnout from any other groups unless fear is used as a whip to get them to the polls.  Repugz are good at whipping up fear.  They are emotional manipulators.  Dems aren’t so good at that, though.

The energy of young voters rubbing off onto other groups is the best chance to unseat Repugz.

Put a flannel, hunting cap on Don Blankenship & you get Floyd R. Turbo.

UK watchdog orders Cambridge Analytica to hand over American’s personal data

Britain’s data privacy watchdog has ordered Cambridge Analytica to hand over all the personal information it holds on a U.S. academic, confirming the right of people abroad to seek data held by a UK firm.
Data privacy activists say that it sets a precedent that would enable millions of other U.S. voters to request information that the company had collected on them.
The Information Commissioner’s Office served notice to SCL Elections, Cambridge Analytica’s parent, to provide the information it holds on David Carroll, saying failure to do so would be a criminal offence punishable by an unlimited fine.
The order comes days after both firms filed for insolvency after reports that Cambridge Analytica had improperly obtained data on tens of millions of Facebook users without their knowledge or consent.

Cambridge Analytica advised U.S. President Donald Trump’s election campaign, building psychographic profiles of the electorate to help micro-target voters with advertising in key swing states.

Both McDougal and Cliffords were in talks with abc before 2016 election.  More surprising, this Nov. 5, 2016 WSJ aritcle…three days before the 2016 election.  WSJ is owned by murdoch.
In July, Ms. McDougal was in talks with producers at ABC News to tell her story, but she ultimately agreed to the deal with AMI, guided by her lawyer Keith Davidson, according to two people familiar with the discussions.
“I did indeed represent Ms. McDougal and currently represent Ms. McDougal in her negotiations with American Media Inc. to provide services to them,” Mr. Davidson said.
Mr. Davidson also represented Stephanie Clifford, a former adult-film star whose professional name is Stormy Daniels and who was in discussions with ABC’s “Good Morning America” in recent months to publicly disclose what she said was a past relationship with Mr. Trump, according to people familiar with the talks. Ms. Clifford cut off contact with the network without telling her story. She didn’t respond to requests for comment.
An ABC spokesperson declined to comment on Ms. McDougal or Ms. Clifford.

Six days after, comey testified in May, 2017 before congress about rudy-g being under investigation for his role in his Oct. 28 leaks?  Comey was fired.

FBI Director James Comey confirmed Wednesday that the FBI is conducting an internal investigation into whether agents leaked information to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and others about the probe into Hillary Clinton during the presidential campaign.

More from the Hill —
On Sept. 28 or 29, New York City FBI agents found some 600,000 emails including Clinton’s name on the laptop of former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner (D), who was under investigation for illegal texting to an underage female.
Comey was reportedly not told about this find until a week later, around Oct. 3.
And then, according to The New Yorker’s Peter Elkind, the New York FBI agents “proceeded unhurriedly with their investigation.”
Three weeks later, on Oct. 25, Giuliani showed remarkable, miraculous clairvoyance. He told the morning audience on “Fox & Friends,” “You’ll see … We’ve got a couple of surprises left … Ha, ha.” Three days later, on the morning of Oct. 28, Giuliani told a national radio talk show audience that he had received leaked information from some former and “a few active” FBI agents. (In subsequent interviews, he tried to walk back the word “active,” using the word “former.”)

Painter running as a dem in Minnesota senate race.

The special election for Minnesota’s Senate seat was set in motion in January when Franken was forced to resign, more than a month after several women came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct. There was a subsequent backlash among supporters of Franken who claimed that his colleagues, led by New York’s Kirsten Gillibrand, jumped the gun in demanding that he step down.

Painter shares the misgivings. “They should have had an investigation to find out the facts,” he said. “Al Franken had never had any problems ever in his workplace at Saturday Night Live or in the United States Senate or with campaign workers. So I don’t get it. I don’t know what happened. I can’t judge the facts.

“I don’t like the fact that Roger Stone, who’s a friend of Trump and was a Nixon operative, knew about [allegations against Franken] before everybody else. I don’t like it and I think it should have been investigated by the Senate. They should have gotten the facts before they pressured him to resign.”

Blonde Wino,

As always, thanks for your posts.  I often mean to say that, as I agree with 95% of what you say and appreciate all of the info you provide, but am typically reticent to do so in order to to avoid contributing to the fabrication of a politcal echo chamber.  Anyway, keep it up!

Bink, one thing is clear, Citizen Murdoch does not control the news pages of the Journal. And, his influence over that publication’s opinion/editorial section reflects a remarkably light touch as well. That is why the WSJ is among the several publications to which I have subscribed for more than half-a-century.
