I’d rate the pain about a 6 out of 10 (moderate to almost but not quite severe) both yesterday and today (days 3 and 4), but with the caveat I’m taking prescription Ibuprofen 800mg every 6 hours, rinsing often with warm salt water — and I’ve been told my pain tolerance is high (walked on a broken ankle for three weeks, thought it was just a sprain). It hurts in a few places where the gums are sore from the friction of the dentures, but apparently not unusually so.
Immediate dentures are best to keep for several months, maybe even a year, so that you don’t spend money on permanents until your gums and bone are finished “re-modeling” — when you’ll get the best long term fit. So far I think my dentist did a decent job molding these immediates. They are fitting well without adhesive, which I only used the second night just to make sure they stayed in while I slept.
Poobah, yeah, ibuprofen works for me. It’s usually my barometer for whether and when I need to do something with the docs. 6/10 is significant. And I wasn’t familiar with the term immediate dentures but get it now. Godspeed bruddah. I’m betting in another week you’ll be feeling MUCH better, but hope that comes sooner.
