  1. jack, lovely.  ms lisa runs circles around that dancing irish lady violinist.

jamie, isn’t that the music old hollywood use to use for background in the bette davis tear jerkers with charles boyer or paul henreid?  many a movie sound track was the first intro to classical music for many an american kid.

  2. John Dean (that one) made public what a few of us are wondering:

Trump may be unable to believe he lost because, in fact, he rigged the election. But maybe he miscalculated with only 10 million extra votes. So he now thinks he was out-cheated. In fact, Dems outvoted him and he wasn’t ready for it. Rudy is fool, period!

I know we are supposed to say “Ah!  Bach!”, but I’m in the “Ah! Tchaikovsky!” fan club probably because of all those old movies that babysat me all weekend as a child.

There’s another memory for all y’all, the age when going to the movies was plural.  Two movies, A Short Subject, A News reel, and a cartoon.

  4. I just hope Biden and all his newly appointed Cabinet members are keeping an eye on any Trump actions between now and the inauguration so that they can be reversed immediately.   Kerry particularly is going to have to jump on some of the environmental garbage being ordered.

  5. Jamie – until this weird stuff of agencies releasing new rules and regulations, or changes or removals, the period from the election until the new president is sworn in has been emergency stuff only.  We would hold all changes, except for necessary changes, until the next administration came in.

  6. That, Craig, is an astonishing suggestion from Dean…and quite possibly correct.   Nobody is a bigger cheater than tRUMPsky.   Let’s not recycle him, though. Don’t wanna see him or the kidzz pop up in future elections.

  7. bId – Dean is now a media type with deep links into the government.  If he puts something out like that I view it with less doubt than if it came from Todd.  You just don’t throw something out like that without some background.  It maybe that the cult members told SFB the fix was in even if there was not one.  But, as pointed out during the last month, the only audits were done in a few states and not in the other states SFB won.

  8. a matter of faith according to AP:

Conservative Christians are rallying behind Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, while Black churches and liberal-leaning Jewish groups are backing Democratic challengers Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. The Democrats’ fates are seen as intertwined in a state that this year turned blue in the presidential election for the first time since 1992 by a razor-thin margin.

“These runoffs are critically important,” Jackson said. “We want to make sure there is no decrease in turnout.”

Across Georgia, the African Methodist Episcopal Church is implementing a program designed to ensure its members, and Black voters overall, cast ballots in the runoff — focusing on votes by mail and early in-person voting. Pastors at each church remind tens of thousands of congregants every week to apply for an absentee ballot and of early voting dates, Jackson said in an interview. Each local church also follows up with congregants to make sure they have a plan to vote.

The New Georgia Project, a nonpartisan voter mobilization group founded by Democrat Stacey Abrams, who ran for governor in 2018, is also preparing to tap the influence of faith communities in stoking turnout.

Rev. Billy Honor, director of faith organizing at the group, said the conservative Christian Faith & Freedom Coalition — founded by former Georgia GOP chairman Ralph Reed — has long positioned Georgia “as the home of evangelical fundamentalist types when it comes to the political space.”

“But the truth is, for a very long time, there has been an active, effective movement of progressive-minded, justice-centered clergy” who have worked in the state on voting rights, health care and other issues, Honor added. He said Warnock was part of that work before his candidacy. Warnock is senior pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, the congregation led by the late Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Meanwhile, Loeffler and Perdue can expect to benefit from a conservative Christian base that has long boosted the state’s Republicans. Faith & Freedom made Georgia one of its top three spending targets in a $50 million get-out-the-vote program during the general election and plans increased organizing for the runoffs.

The reach of “the evangelical vote in Georgia is very large and very strong,” Timothy Head, the group’s executive director, said in an interview.

Head noted that while President Donald Trump kept a strong hold on white evangelical voters this year, Perdue out-performed Trump in Georgia during the general election. President-elect Joe Biden may have won over some evangelicals by contrasting his character with that of Trump, Head said, but he argued that the same sort of case would be harder for Democrats to make against Loeffler and Perdue.

Another faith-focused conservative group, the legislative affiliate of the Family Research Council, is holding trainings and pastor briefings before the runoffs. The anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List, whose president advised Trump’s reelection campaign on Catholic outreach, has announced a $4.1 million plan to boost Loeffler and Perdue through a partner political action committee.

  9. from fox news:

After the Supreme Court declined to hear the case of a Louisiana pastor facing criminal charges for defying coronavirus restrictions, the state’s governor weighed in.
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, said Saturday that he has “let science and data inform” the decisions he has made on crowd sizes and other restrictions.
“I am thankful that the United States Supreme Court denied this effort to overturn these mitigation efforts,” Edwards said in a statement
“For months I have spoken and prayed with leaders of many faiths as we have navigated this pandemic together. I know how difficult this time has been for them and I am deeply appreciative of their commitment to practice their faiths even under trying circumstances and with the health of their congregations in mind.”
Life Tabernacle Church pastor Tony Spell filed an emergency petition with the Supreme Court earlier this month, seeking relief from the nine criminal charges currently pending against him.
    […]
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito denied Spell’s request Friday night without asking for information from Louisiana officials or referring the case to the full court.
Spell also sued local and state officials in May, but lower courts ruled against him.
According to the latest filing, Spell has been charged with several misdemeanors for violating coronavirus restrictions and one felony count for allegedly trying to hit a protester with his vehicle.
The decision by Alito comes after the Supreme Court ruled against capacity restrictions Wednesday at religious services in certain parts of New York.
The high court also ruled 5-4 to leave in place coronavirus-related restrictions in California and Nevada.

  10. Why are you voting against Reverend Warnock? Do you hate Jesus?   They need to go there.
Why would you back Kelly Loeffler?  She downplayed the virus (that is not being pro-life) while selling off her stock (unethical/illegal – insider trading).
Perdue is a chicken.  He’s afraid of Ossoff.  He refused to debate. Not sure if they got Perdue to come of hiding.
    Vote Your Ossoff

  11. BiD, there’s a group in atlanta selling tees, sweats and signs with their logo “warnock your ossoff.”

  12. I bought the Vote Your Ossoff tee and some other merch.  I haven’t been out shopping this year, but I have a wardrobe of new tee shirts.

  13. She’s basically telling her supporters to stay home. So stupid. Asked of @GovKemp & SoS role in election, @SenatorLoeffler on FOX News says: “The buck stops with the Secretary of State. He is supposed to run a trusted, free, fair, transparent election. David Perdue and I have called for him to step down because Georgians have lost faith in our elections”

  14. In last half hour of his live @FoxNews interview Trump hasn’t mentioned GA Senate race other than to say the state is rigged. Doing his best to suppress vote for Perdue and Loeffler.

  15. Trump on @FoxNews again suppressing Republican support saying “mail-in voting is a total and complete disaster”, at the very moment Georgians can request ballots for the GA runoff. Never once in this 45min interview endorsed or even mentioned Perdue or Loeffler.

  16. Craig – it is possible the “moron and imbecile” might confuse Perdue the poultry company, Perdue the Secretary of Agriculture and Perdue the senator.  He has in the past.  With his deterioration he could be unsure who any of them are.

  17. Pat
There are several bits of music in that piece that are familiar. At least one bank commercial and there are times when I know there should be words to some of that music. So I suspect there was a whole lot of thievery going on and  some of it may have been from Strav. himself. As to us getting our culture from old movies, don’t forget loony tunes.

  18. SFB wants credit for the vaccines.  Does he mean the vaccines paid for by taxpayers and Dolly Parton?  She nice he pays little in taxes and is not Dolly Parton, why should he get the credit?

He likes to make deals so, if he wants credit for the vaccines he also has to take responsibility for lying/doing nothing about containing the virus, thus sickening and killing multitudes of Americans and killing small businesses.

Plenty of blame for killing Main Street. Moscow Mitch and the Republicans hate Christmas and any American not in the top 1%. Disgusting, heartless, jackasses.

  19. Then there are all the mangled Shakespeare quotes.
I was a middle aged adult before I learned that the quote was ” music hath charms to soothe the savage breast” not savage beast as I learned from Loony Tunes.
    Jack

  20. BiD
Give him credit, he did cause a large population of people with an out of control infection rate. With out it they would have taken a lot longer on their phase 3 trials. BTW they created the vaccine back in February when Trump was denying the severity of the crisis.  It just took this long to prove that it works,
    Jack

  21. Yes, I suppose you don’t throw a bucket of water on a forest fire…but he let it burn out of control and you can’t get back those lives.

  22. Republicans are stupid not to give stimulus money NOW.   Keep food on tables (during holidays).  Keep roofs over heads (in winter).  Help Main Street survive (save Christmas).
If they wait, Biden gets the credit.  The economic relief folks feel will come from having a Democrat in charge.

The Republican Party is NOT pro-life, NOT pro-business, NOT pro-morality. Republicans continue to prove that they hate most Americans, don’t give a crap about Christmas (secular/economic), and, are nothing but self-serving asshats.

  23. I was listening to an NPR radio interview with a couple of old 30’s-40’s songwriters who told of getting a radio job once where their mission was to write 30 original songs in 30 days.  A song a day for 30 days.  The interviewer says, “Wow—a song a day, I imagine that must have taken a lot out of you!”   One of the old guys says, “Yeah, but it took a lot more out of Beethoven, Brahms, and Mozart!”

  24. On CNN Reliable Sources, @brianstelter shows data that @realDonaldTrump is losing Twitter followers after years of gains – a small sign, Stelter says, of the realization Trump lost and his influence will diminish.

  25. “And the governor’s done nothing. He’s done absolutely nothing,” Trump added of Kemp. “I’m ashamed that I endorsed him. But I look what’s going on. It’s so terrible.”

  26. Georgia media reporting in January, MLK Day program at Rev. Warnock’s church featured Kelly Loeffler as a speaker. But now her ads say his church “too radical”.

  27. the hill: Georgia Senate candidate Raphael Warnock shared a video message showcasing his father and small businesses for Small Business Saturday.

  28. Everything the creep has done and said since the election just shows exactly how much losing hurts him to the center of whatever he is.  That’s gratifying. Hurt some more, ya crumby little worm, ya.

  29. Biden announces all-female communications team:

    • Kate Bedingfield, communications director

    • Pili Tobar, dep comms dir

    • Jen Psaki, press secretary

    • Karine Jean Pierre, principal deputy press secretary

    • Symone Sanders, VP adviser/spox

    • Ashley Etienne, VP comms dir

  30. What would/could tRUMPsky loyalists in the Pentagon do that could result in a charge of treason?   Would they commit treason to benefit a decaying loser like tRUMPsky?

  31. It’s a twisted ankle, not a broken hip.   He’s in better shape than fat-ass-the-golfing-liar.
