Hearing his masters’ voice

Former acting FBI director Andrew McCabe, who took over the bureau after President Trump fired James Comey, claims Donald Trump dismissed US intelligence on North Korea because Russian president Vladimir Putin had given him different advice. ‘The president said he did not believe that the North Koreans had the capability to hit us here with ballistic missiles in the United States … because President Putin had told him they did not,’ McCabe told CBS’ 60 Minutes on Sunday night.

A director of the controversial data company Cambridge Analytica, who appeared with Arron Banks at the launch of the Leave.EU campaign, has been subpoenaed by the US investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

A spokesman for Brittany Kaiser, former business development director for Cambridge Analytica – which collapsed after the Observer revealed details of its misuse of Facebook data – confirmed that she had been subpoenaed by special counsel Robert Mueller, and was cooperating fully with his investigation.
He added that she was assisting other US congressional and legal investigations into the company’s activities and had voluntarily turned over documents and data.
    […]
Damian Collins, chairman of parliament’s inquiry into fake news, said it was “no surprise” that Kaiser was under scrutiny by Mueller because “her work connected her to WikiLeaks, Cambridge Analytica and [its parent company] SCL, the Trump campaign, Leave.EU and Arron Banks”.
He said it was now vital Britain had its own inquiry into foreign interference: “We should not be leaving this to the Americans.”
Tom Watson, the deputy leader of the Labour party, echoed Collins’s statement, saying: “This is the first evidence that a significant player in the Leave.EU campaign is of interested to the global Mueller inquiry. People will be bewildered that the British government has no interest in establishing the facts of what happened.”

  2. Oh good lord.

SEOUL — Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe wouldn’t say Monday whether he nominated President Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating with North Korea, even though local media reports suggest that he did.

Trump said Friday that Abe had personally given him “the most beautiful copy” of a five-page nomination letter recommending him for the prize for opening talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and lowering tensions.

But Abe wouldn’t confirm that Monday.

    *******

Opposition lawmaker Junya Ogawa said it was “unthinkable” for Abe to have nominated a man who had pulled out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, the Paris climate change accord and the Iran nuclear deal, started a trade war with China, moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, promoted “America First” and who wants to build a wall on the Mexican border.

“It is embarrassing to the nation of Japan,” he told Abe in parliament.

We have definitely gone through the looking glass.

  3. Remove the orange paint and you have a heart attack in action.  Will the heart go first or a stroke?  It should be one of the betting lines.

Happy Presidents Day.  I cannot believe any of the previous occupants of the WH, even the racist or criminal types, would ever have imagined a grifter and con man of this magnitude.

  4. BB, I know that when I voted against him I knew he was a con man and grifter – but even I couldn’t imagine it could be this bad.  I also never dreamed that Congress would put up with this shit.

  5. I haven’t bought any of the recent books about trump and his administration.  But I’m considering making an exception for McCabe’s book.  Mostly because (despite his mistakes) I want to support him.

Sitting here wondering what high jinks will come from SFB during this President’s Week.

  6. Following up on the Abe – SFB NPP nomination, I believ that Abe is just angling for US missile defense in Japan – they do not have their own.  It has been only 15 months since NK’s last missile test following a 9 month period of high activity.  NK showed that it could get a payload into Japan and does not need to further test Short – medium range missiles to keep Japan nervous.  The last flight was a successful launch of a missile that is estimated could reach DC.  There is no evidence that NK has done anything other than cease test launches – no dismantling their nuclear program, no dismantling their ballistic missile program (other than abandon an obsolete launch site).  And in fact our intel says NK hasn’t scaled back any of that. But we know what SFB thinks of our intel – it’s only as good as Vlad says it is.

It makes all the sense in the world that Abe would fluff Trump and no sense in the world that the Nobel organization would seriously consider that fluffing.

  7. “It makes all the sense in the world that Abe would fluff Trump and no sense in the world that the Nobel organization would seriously consider that fluffing.”

pogo, this from international business times:
It’s been a dream of president Donald Trump to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has now placed him on the road to attaining this ambition by nominating him for this year’s award.
There’s only one thing askance about this news — Trump asked Abe to nominate him.
Talks about Trump being nominated for the prize first surfaced in the aftermath of his historic summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un on June 12, 2018 in Singapore. His sycophants in the White House and the Republican Party immediately went public with talk of Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize because of his historic meeting with Kim.
The only U.S. president conferred the Nobel Peace Prize is Barack Obama. The Nobel Laureate was honored in 2009 for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” Trump has no love lost for Obama.
Talk about Trump’s Nobel Prize, however, subsided when it became clear his talks with Kim had neither goaded North Korea into denuclearization nor attained any measurable results.
And along comes Abe. It’s been revealed Abe nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize after the Singapore summit. Japanese media found out that Abe only submitted Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize after Trump asked him to do so. Abe complied.
Japanese media said the Prime Minister nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for opening talks and easing tensions with North Korea.
Abe’s government, however, refused to issue an official statement about the key role Abe played in the Peace Prize nomination. Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it “would refrain from commenting on the interaction between the two leaders.” The White House also refused to comment on Abe’s role in the nomination.
The Nobel Foundation’s rules say a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize can be submitted by any person who meets the nomination criteria.
South Korean president Moon Jae-in has nothing against Trump being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Moon believes Trump may deserve this recognition for his leadership in helping establish peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Moon’s spokesman said the South Korean leader feels Trump “is more than eligible for the Nobel Peace Prize as (Moon) has repeatedly stressed that President Trump has made great contributions to establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula by continuing North Korea-U.S. talks.”
Some, however, believe Moon is a better candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize than Trump.

  8. BTW, mistake in above IBT article re Obama being only potus to receive peace  prize,

jimmy carter awarded one in 2002 per nobel org

also teddy Roosevelt and woody wilson

  9. AP via msn:

“And the idea is, if the president committed obstruction of justice, fired the director of the of the FBI to negatively impact or to shut down our investigation of Russia’s malign activity and possibly in support of his campaign, as a counterintelligence investigator you have to ask yourself, “Why would a president of the United States do that?” McCabe said.
He added: “So all those same sorts of facts cause us to wonder is there an inappropriate relationship, a connection between this president and our most fearsome enemy, the government of Russia?”
Asked whether Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was onboard with the obstruction and counterintelligence investigations, McCabe replied, “Absolutely.”
A Justice Department spokeswoman declined to comment Sunday night.

when DOJ does respond, it will likely be:   “rod who?… no one here by that name”

  10. @realDonaldTrump

Wow, so many lies by now disgraced acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe. He was fired for lying, and now his story gets even more deranged. He and Rod Rosenstein, who was hired by Jeff Sessions (another beauty), look like they were planning a very illegal act, and got caught…

    @realDonaldTrump

….There is a lot of explaining to do to the millions of people who had just elected a president who they really like and who has done a great job for them with the Military, Vets, Economy and so much more. This was the illegal and treasonous “insurance policy” in full action!

[per phillip bump in wapo: “… removing a president from office using systems included in the Constitution is, by definition, not a coup. Removing Trump from office by following the guidelines of the 25th Amendment would no more be a coup than removing him from office through impeachment or, really, than voting for another candidate in 2020. It’s part of the system.”]

  11. That 70’s Soul mix i posted, yesterday, is terrific, btw- might be the best thing i’ve ever posted, here.

The Cass McCombs song passed the 20x-in-a-row replay test, also.

(Sorry- how many times can i post that “Our President is a treasonous, criminal charlatan”? It’s too obvious, but thanks for all the corroborating evidence shared by the news-linkers, here.)

  12. Jamie, do I recall you are not using the web things address anymore? Sent you a message about upgrading your status to run the show here again for a little while but don’t have your new address.

  13. Bink, to which of those in the SFB orbit are you referring re: Wharton?  SFB, Ivanka, SFBJr? All of them?

  14. Haha, Butthead went to Wharton, too?  Imagine getting stuck next to that knucklehead, in class.

”I thought this place was supposed to be prestigious…”

  15. I guess in the SFB family the thought is “If it’s good enough for daddy, it’s good enough for me.”  Only the “dumb” one got his business related learning elsewhere – at Georgetown.

  16. He did not attend Wharton. That’s another lie. He graduated from UP in business, having taken 2 classes at Wharton. Later Wharton and UP Business School merged.

  17. That does it, xrep- you’re being drafted into Presidential service.  I realize you don’t want that kind of power, which is exactly why IT MUST BE YOU.

  18. XR, you could be right about SFB not graduating from Wharton, but from what I read Wharton has been a part of UPenn since it was established in 1881.

    the hill:
Former Trump campaign informal adviser Roger Stone on Monday posted a picture on Instagram of U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson — the federal judge overseeing his criminal case — with what appeared to be small crosshairs next to her head.
The post on Stone’s Instagram account was quickly deleted.
“Through legal trickery Deep State hitman Robert Mueller has guaranteed that my upcoming show trial is before Judge Amy Berman Jackson , an Obama appointed Judge who dismissed the Benghazi charges again [sic] Hillary Clinton and incarcerated Paul Manafort prior to his conviction for any crime. #fixisin Help me fight for my life at @StoneDefenseFund.com,” the post read.
Included in the picture was a banner at the bottom with Berman Jackson’s name displayed under her face.
Stone, a longtime ally of President Trump, was arrested last month during an FBI raid of his home. He was later released on $250,000 bond and has pleaded not guilty to charges of obstruction of justice and lying to Congress.
Just last week Judge Berman Jackson issued a gag order on Stone that prohibits him from discussing the case in public or with the media.
The decision to place a gag order on Stone comes after he appeared on several news shows following his arrest in relation to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Berman Jackson is an appointee of former President Obama.”A photo of Judge Jackson posted on my Instagram has been misinterpreted. This was a random photo taken from the internet. Any inference that this was meant to threaten the judge or disrespect the court is categorically false,” Stone said in a statement to The Hill that he later posted on Instagram.
He added that “what some say are crosshairs are in fact the logo of the organization that originally posted it.”

  20. When trump attended UP, Wharton was a graduate school. Graduate schools do not award baccalaureate degrees, except in trumpworld. While we’re on the topic of trump’s falsification of his academic record, do we even know that trump got a bachelor degree ? Perhaps he just got a 2 year degree. Maybe he didn’t get a degree. Maybe he washed out. Maybe he wasn’t really at UPenn except as a campus thug and rapist. One can’t trust a damned thing he says, writes, tweets, or slurs.

  21. I had a cousin go to Wharton in the ’50s. He was a good student, had a quality undergrad degree, and did well as a public servant thereafter. Me, I wouldn’t trade my experience(s) at USF for anywhere.

  22. Thank you, Mr Bink. Would you mind very much if I just took the statue and gave the rest of it to Senator Booker ?

  23. The statue is for us, not you, and it doesn’t get installed for another 2400 years.  Incidentally, we’re going to need some toga pics.

  24. XR, you got a  link to that? What I have read is pretty general and I’d like to verify that when SFB went to UPenn, he wasn’t at Wharton and isn’t a Wharton grad.

  25. Yet another Republican, Mark Harris, caught rigging an election and subverting the democratic process, this time in North Carolina.

…just another day in the GOP.

  26. I have researched trump’s academics further and found him to have gotten a bs in economics from the Wharton School of UPenn..

I apologize profusely for my error; I am buried in rue.

Never wanted that damn statue anyway . . . . Man, even these grapes are sour.
