Dec 21, 2025 PHOENIX
Vice President JD Vance headlined the final day of AmericaFest 2025 on Sunday, closing out the event at the Phoenix Convention Center. Vance arrived via Air Force Two and traveled to the venue under heavy security in a motorcade.
This year’s convention has been described as chaotic in the absence of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Several prominent conservative media figures took the stage to criticize one another, including pundits Ben Shapiro, Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and Steve Bannon. Their disagreements centered on questions surrounding Kirk’s death and the Republican Party’s historical support for Israel.
TPUSA’s endorsement of Vice President JD Vance for the 2028 presidential election also drew surprise from some attendees, who said they preferred to focus on President Trump’s agenda over the next three years.
Ha I almost livestreamed Vance’s speech yesterday for a chat but didn’t think there’d be many takers. It was Orwellian for sure, or worse.

FASCIST MEDIA CAPTURE ALERT
CBS News pulled the broadcast of a “60 Minutes” segment scheduled to air last night on the Trump administration’s deportation of migrants to an El Salvador prison.
“60 Minutes” correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi, who filmed the segment, said in an internal email that she learned of new CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss’ call to spike the story Saturday, after the network had promoted it on social media:

Trail Mix Brief: The “Inherent Contempt” Maneuver ⚡
Can a bipartisan pair of “populist” lawmakers really bypass their own leadership to fine the Attorney General $25,000 a day?
Reps. Massie and Khanna are betting they can. The strategy relies on House Rule IX, which classifies certain resolutions as “Questions of Privilege.” This status grants the resolution priority over almost all other House business—meaning if they have the 218 votes, the Speaker can’t simply bury it in committee or leave it off the schedule.
But how does it bypass the White House and the DOJ’s refusal to prosecute? The answer lies in a dormant “self-help” power that hasn’t been used in a century.

https://manofmany.com/culture/jake-paul-andrew-tate-boxing
Within 24 hours, Jake Paul and Andrew Tate, two of the internet’s most polarising figures, both suffered emphatic defeats in the ring. While Paul was sent home with a broken jaw to mumble about his place in the world of boxing, Tate will be left wondering whether his long history of openly misogynistic rhetoric was worth getting beaten up on camera.
Paul’s reckoning came first, and it was brutal. The 28-year-old stepped up against former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua and lasted six rounds before the referee waved it off. A far cry from his novelty bout with Tyson or any of his other more friendly crossovers. This was, without a doubt, a mismatch that played out exactly as many expected.
Immediately after the fight, Paul said his jaw was broken, before spitting blood onto the canvas at Miami’s Kaseya Centre. Images came quickly, including a video shared by his brother, Logan Paul, showing Jake’s teeth visibly shifted.
Less than a day later, Tate received his own reality check in Dubai, making his long-anticipated boxing debut at a Misfits Boxing event. And while many were hoping for a straight knockout, Tate was beaten by Chase DeMoor via decision. DeMoor applied consistent pressure, landed the cleaner shots, and exposed Tate’s discomfort in a sport he had loudly promised to dominate.
The only thing louder was the internet’s unusually gleeful response. Clips of Tate getting punched circulated widely, accompanied by memes and celebratory commentary that framed the loss less as a sporting upset and more as a cultural moment.
Describing himself as “absolutely a misogynist”, Tate has repeatedly promoted ideas about control and dominance that have drawn widespread criticism. He’s also facing criminal charges relating to human trafficking and has been accused of rape and strangulation (all of which he denies). For many watching, this was a moment of schaendfruede to remember.

Craig shared with me WhskyJack’s holiday cheer, and I have to say, it’s a welcome relief from the sanitized, department-store carols that usually haunt this time of year. We’re looking at Canned Heat’s “Christmas Boogie,” a track that swaps tinsel for grit and sentiment for a genuine shuffle.
Here’s my take for the Trailmixers:
The Silas Review: Canned Heat’s “Christmas Boogie”
This isn’t your standard holiday fluff. Recorded in 2006 and released on the Canned Heat Christmas Album in 2007, this track—arranged by Barry Levenson—is a masterclass in the band’s signature boogie.
The Groove: It’s built on that infectious, foot-stomping blues-rock foundation that Canned Heat is known for. It doesn’t ask you to be “jolly”—it commands you to move.
The Visuals: The video is a solid trip down memory lane, featuring a montage of live performance shots and band portraits that capture the raw energy of that era’s lineup.
The Verdict: It’s a bit rough around the edges, just the way good blues should be. It captures the “Bright Side” of the holidays without the forced smile. It’s about keeping that spirit “boogie-ing all year long”.
If you’re tired of the same three songs on repeat, give this a spin. It’s got a pulse, some soul, and just enough “heat” to get through the winter.
Happy Holidays to the Trailmixers. Keep the boogie going.
The Youtube algo seems to have caught my mood today.
Lots of new stuff I’ve never seen before.
The canned heat didn’t embed, just an image and a link to youtube. Which meant a commercial before it could play.
Everything else embedded. I hope this is not a trend.
Jack
yup… it’s that time of year…

On the topic of the day, Christmas burnout.
As the marketers have skipped the Thanksgiving holiday and went straight from Halloween to Christmas it is more important than ever to take control. I do nothing that reeks of Christmas until the week before. It avoids burnout, overspending and the annual Christmas depression. I can actually enjoy Christmas in all its weirdness.
Jack
OK the Youtube also is kicking ass.

So my paralegal, who normally gives small gifts at Christmas (last 4 have been ornaments from the “A Christmas Story” collection, the most notable being the “Major Award”). This year she gave me a silver coin – size of a silver dollar – struck with a boat on the face of the coin – the topsail schooner Etoile. As the coin is struck Etoile looks for all the world like the Pride of Baltimore. So she gave me this coin, saying she had her husband find a coin with a boat on it. I told her that she couldn’t realize what a coincidence this is and told her about my friend Vinny Lazarro, who sailed with me at Outward Bound in the summer of 1985, and was my assistant Watch Officer, which also is crazy ironic considering our respective USCG licenses. He was by trade a fisherman working on the big fishing boats out of Gloucester, MA, fishing on and off the Grand Banks and got tired of it so he came to Outward Bound to learn a little about sailing little sail boats with an eye toward getting a job on bigger sailboats. Absolutely great guy – knew more knots than anyone I’ve ever met and never met a person he didn’t like. Anyway, he got a job as a mate on the original Pride of Baltimore for a delivery, returning to Baltimore from the Caribbean and went down with the Pride in May 1986 trying to save people’s lives after it was blown over in a microburst squall. Story is that in the squall after the knockdown he had brought to the surface two crew members who were caught in sails and rigging and who ultimately survived and that he was last seen diving to try and save another. There’s a plaque in the Inner Harbor in Boston memorializing the captain and the three crew members who died. There are gifts, and then there are gifts.
Listening to a survivor an hour ago, I am thoroughly disgusted with Todd Blanche’s horseshit about the government fully complying in releasing all the files. This victim/survivor was taken to Epstein as a young girl, and subjected to horrible abuse by Epstein and an unstated number of rich sex offenders.
She tried to find information about her revelations to the FBI in 2008 and also 2019…missing, and the FBI agent who interrogated her? Yeah. Never existed . Not in any search, nor any documents.
These women who were raped and passed around and raped again and again are being erased. The government wants to vanish them.
We want the truth. Starting with the President, the adjudicated rapist and pussy-grabber by admission. We want to know what he did with these young high school girls. This is a national disgrace.
Opened for Canned Heat on Folly pier at Folly Beach…..the so-called “Edge of America”.

@brianstelter
Here’s the text of Sharyn Alfonsi’s memo about “corporate censorship” and a “betrayal of the most basic tenet of journalism:”
News Team,
Thank you for the notes and texts. I apologize for not reaching out earlier.
I learned on Saturday that Bari Weiss spiked our story, INSIDE CECOT, which was supposed to air tonight. We (Ori and I) asked for a call to discuss her decision. She did not afford us that courtesy/opportunity.
Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices. It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now—after every rigorous internal check has been met is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.
We requested responses to questions and/or interviews with DHS, the White House, and the State Department. Government silence is a statement, not a VETO. Their refusal to be interviewed is a tactical maneuver designed to kill the story.
If the administration’s refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a “kill switch” for any reporting they find inconvenient.
If the standard for airing a story becomes “the government must agree to be interviewed,” then the government effectively gains control over the 60 Minutes broadcast. We go from an investigative powerhouse to a stenographer for the state.
These men risked their lives to speak with us. We have a moral and professional obligation to the sources who entrusted us with their stories. Abandoning them now is a betrayal of the most basic tenet of journalism: giving voice to the voiceless.
CBS spiked the Jeffrey Wigand interview due to legal concerns, nearly destroying the credibility of this broadcast. It took years to recover from that “low point.” By pulling this story to shield an administration, we are repeating that history, but for political optics rather than legal ones.
We have been promoting this story on social media for days. Our viewers are expecting it. When it fails to air without a credible explanation, the public will correctly identify this as corporate censorship. We are trading 50 years of “Gold Standard” reputation for a single week of political quiet.
I care too much about this broadcast to watch it be dismantled without a fight.
Sharyn
Happy to see that Canned Heat was still making music into the 2000s. Always kinda liked their groove. Although I haven’t heard anything of theirs since the 70s until now, if I’d listened to Christmas Boogie without knowing who it was I would have guessed Canned Heat.
We’re building an army of patriots and we need good people.

Yes, of course they are…..
Dexter, YES — a national disgrace indeed. This Epstein travesty is way beyond a partisan political issue. Seems like he was protected by elites in both parties — but the inconvenient fact for Trump is they were best friends.
it’s the most miserable time of year, why we have a winter fest with forced cheer

Dem Wave Watch
Generic Ballot: Leads a year out for parties that retook the House:
2006 Dems: +9
2010 GOP: +6
2018 Dems: +7
1994 GOP: +1
2022 GOP: +0
TODAY Dems +16
A 16-point lead less than a year before a midterm is larger than any early generic ballot lead for a party that actually went on to win the House in the post-WWII era. Roughly double what we call a “wave”.
Trump pulls 30 envoys in ‘America First’ push, critics say it weakens US abroad

I asked Silas to chart this for us
once again, there are no waves anymore because of the very-short electoral memory and the very evenly-divided polarization
If anything we had a red wave in 2024, stop trading in false hope! ❤️
Someone needs to tell J.D. Vance:
The first synagogue in America was Congregation Shearith Israel, founded in New Amsterdam (now NYC) in 1654 by Sephardic Jews fleeing Brazil, but their first dedicated building, the Mill Street Synagogue, was consecrated in 1730
Donald Trump Junior is trying to rebrand the Republican Party just like I suggested Democrats do with their party
These fuckers are two steps ahead of Democrats all day every day
democrats are getting almost 0 press and all of their platform issues are getting co-opted by MAGA
One day the space-people will teach classes on early 21st century political malfeasance of Democrats
“Hope for the best” ain’t no strategy
notice Democrats didn’t have a conference with up-and-coming rising stars that everybody is talking about
There’s no blue wave coming
Double checking on history to go with the above:
There were no Jewish signers of the Declaration of Independence, as the signatories were almost exclusively Protestant Christians with a few Deists (Jefferson and Franklin openly + others quietly) and Charles Carroll the only Catholic. While Jews were not delegates or signers, they strongly supported the Revolution, with figures like Haym Salomon providing crucial financial support for the war effort.
“Wave” is too modest, Anon. This is a tsunami on the suburban shoreline. The way Independent voters are breaking in these early 2026 tests suggests right now the ‘red wall’ is a sandcastle.
Craig
On the genealogy front if any of your relatives lived in Tazewell, TN (Claiborne county) we might be related.
yeah, your predicted “blue tsunami” turned into full republican control of government
Mike Johnson’s got that permanent shit eating grin because it’s too easy for them

wow, what a hustle
I salute every state and municipal government that refuses to be economically strong-armed by these scamming NFL teams like Los Angeles, St. Louis and anybody else that got rid of a team, add Kansas City, Missouri
🫡
Anon, I’ve got this going for me: that pollster showing a 16-point Dem lead today (AtlasIntel) was the most accurate of them all in 2024 and 2020
yeah, generic questions of dissatisfaction in an off year is gonna favor generic opposition
When it’s real candidates, it’s 51-49 every time
But Anon my point is this compares generic TO generic going back every cycle since World War II. And never has a party that ultimately took the House been ahead this much a year out, not even close. Sure all those elections narrowed at the end but this Dem lead right now is unprecedented.
Judge Xinis ain’t happy with the DOJ lawyers in the Abrego-Garcia case. WaPo
Apparently Blondi’s DOJ lawyers believe that because Dumbass can lie and shit doesn’t stick to him, they have license to be like him. Do much of this shit and you put your law license in jeopardy.
Xinis also took issue Monday with a recent Justice Department legal filing that asserted her restraining order this month had been issued “on an ex parte basis,” meaning one side was not notified or heard.
“Everybody signed it, and it’s flat wrong. So who did that?” Xinis said, wanting to know who authored the brief while visibly furious. “There’s like four lawyers that signed this. I want to know who.”
Dead party dead philosophy I bet you couldn’t even articulate it

To get the album to imbed I simply waited until the ad said skip, hit that and then shared from there. You can also pull up the whole album list and pick individual songs from there. I notice only one of the songs played here so you do have to do it song by song from the list.
You can’t do that with some videos such as Randy Rainbow because he does the commercial so you can only fast forward to where he starts performing.
So president/dictator/admiral Blitzed wants to revive battleships. Something obsolete for eighty some on years. I suspect it is “The Great White Fleet” The name is quite appealing to mangomoron and whatshisnamefromradio.
The Great White Fleet was a popular name for the U.S. Navy’s Atlantic Fleet of 16 battleships, painted white, that completed a circumnavigation of the globe from 1907–1909 under President Theodore Roosevelt’s order to showcase American naval power, I think this is google “ai” but can’t be sure.
The age of the elves has passed the age of the orc has come
Anon, my party philosophy would be Medicare for all, and the billionaires pay for it. I’d also toss in free community college.
I’ve never been a huge believer in polls, particularly not 11 months out, and while I like what you’ve posted Poobah, there is a reason for concern next November. Gallup shows congressional repugs doing about 4-5% better than congressional Dems in approve/disapprove of how each party is handling their job. Repugs – 29% approve, 70% disapprove; Dems – 24% approve, 74% disapprove.
Totally amazed Trump didn’t try to stop this. Maybe because it was done by the State of Virginia.
She Protested School Segregation as a Teenager. Now She’s Being Honored With a Statue at the U.S. Capitol
Lawmakers gathered in the Capitol for the unveiling of a bronze statue honoring teenage civil rights activist Barbara Rose Johns
Craig/Anon – Here’s the reason we might see more blue wins (if elections aren’t hijacked, because it looks like the DOJ wants to control the voter rolls), it’s that stupid thing JD Thiel said at the klan rally:
“You don’t have to apologize for being white anymore.”
White privilege won’t buy groceries or pay the bills. That nastiness may make them feel good for a little while, but long term economic pain can’t be ignored.
Now, can Dems get together and stick with a cohesive message about income inequality?
Craig – I look at community college as the next two years of public school. Education should no longer be based on what was usable ninety years ago. Also, two years more is just a start. The amount of information available has increased more in the last sixty years and had in the prior one hundred. A four year schooling, post high school, would be useful. Education has to be looked at as a right, not an indoctrination.
MAGA gets so much press they must seem like the entire entirety of politics to young voters
The only reason I know any Democrat politicians because I actively seek out information about who they even are
Yep BB I am obsessed with free community college for a bunch of reasons and was so disappointed Biden gave up on it so quickly after campaigning on it. I don’t care if they learn plumbing or lab tech or Eastern philosophy we have to teach these kids some basic critical thinking skills or they’ll all become MAGAts.
Chiefs going to the Kansas suburbs! That’s a win for Kansas City MO.
Kansas pays the cost and Missouri is still the place they party the rest of their stay. Those 2 stadiums didn’t drive a bit of development in the area where they were built.

well, your Trump voting friends and family, and mine, are as evil as we thought
Jack – Yep, we drove to MO for Big Slick charity softball at the K. I had never been there before and I was shocked ay how close Arrowhead was to the K, and that there was nothing but parking lots, highways, and probably meth houses around it.
The Governor of KS said there would be an economic development district near the stadium.
The old TX stadium wasn’t near restaurants or hotels. Jerry’s Death-star fixed that. Arlington, TX is a mess traffic-wise, though, because the baseball park is there, too.
Just ridiculous that billionaires don’t pay for their own, damned stuff.
Lived near the old Cowboys training facility. Jerry built a new one in Frisco, and it’s Disneyland. Curious as to whether the Chiefs will build a sensible training facility, or if it will be like The Star in Frisco? It’s a training facility and it generates revenue.
Just not sure folks will have money to spend on entertainment, or if it will be safe for anyone without white privilege.
Kickoff at the new stadium will be in 2031. I guess planning and building shows hope…and greed.
I asked Silas Gemini pal to watch and confirm, he says:
“Based on the content of the video and recent news reports, yes, this appears to be the “spiked” 60 Minutes segment that was slated to air on CBS yesterday, Sunday, December 21, 2025.
Evidence of the Segment’s Authenticity
The video matches multiple details from news reports regarding a controversy at CBS News that emerged today:
Subject Matter: The video, titled “Inside CECOT,” investigates the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) in El Salvador and the deportation of Venezuelan men by the Trump administration. This aligns exactly with reports that CBS pulled a segment on the “condition of a maximum-security prison in El Salvador” and “deported migrants”.
Production Quality: The footage features standard 60 Minutes branding, including the iconic stopwatch and correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi.
https://stadiumdb.com/news/2025/12/usa_last_snow_at_highmark_stadium_bills_gear_up_for_21_billion_new_home
Construction of the New Highmark Stadium for the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park enters its decisive phase. According to the latest reports, the investment is already about 75% complete, and the pace of work allows maintaining the planned opening of the facility in summer 2026.
When the first estimates were presented in 2021, the stadium cost was supposed to be around $1.4 billion. Currently, the project has reached $2.1 billion.
Most importantly, the Buffalo Bills have taken on the cost increase resulting from inflation and sharp material price changes, which allowed avoiding restrictions or halting the investment.
The stadium construction has not only a sporting dimension – it is also a significant element of the local economy. One of the most important sources of revenue for New York State is the so-called jock tax, a tax on athletes’ salaries. In a 2021 analysis, revenues from this were estimated at about $19.5 million annually, but with the rising NFL salary cap, experts now talk about up to $30 million per year.
*No state income tax in Texas. All of those big salaries of athletes…and everyone else who moved there to avoid income tax.
More from Silas on the segment;
Subject Matter: The video, titled “Inside CECOT,” investigates the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) in El Salvador and the deportation of Venezuelan men by the Trump administration.
Reported “Spiking”: News outlets reported today that CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss made a “political” call to pull the story just before it was scheduled to air. Critics and some CBS staff allege the segment was shelved for not “advancing the ball” or for political reasons.
Broadcast Contrast: The official 60 Minutes YouTube channel uploaded segments that did air yesterday, which focused on different topics such as Sherpas on Mt. Everest and the Kanneh-Mason musical family.
Summary of the “Spiked” Content
The leaked segment details several controversial findings:
Deportation Policies: It examines a 2025 deal where the U.S. government paid El Salvador $4.7 million to house Venezuelan deportees.
Abuse Allegations: Inmates describe “four months of hell,” including systematic torture, physical abuse, and sexual assault by guards at the CECOT facility.
Flawed Criteria: The report cites a Human Rights Watch study finding that nearly half of the Venezuelans sent to the prison had no criminal history, despite the administration’s claims they were “terrorists” or “gang members”.
It “advances the ball” with people who weren’t familiar with the story already

Dear CBS whoever you replace Bari Weiss with, make sure this one knows more about TV than just how to turn the set on
it was a good fire drill
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/billionaire-philanthropy-growing-divide-mark-181737765.html
Zuckerberg and Scott now represent two poles of philanthropy: technocratic infrastructure versus redistributive equity. CZI is building a capital‑intensive platform for science and AI, betting that breakthroughs in biology and computation will ultimately benefit society at scale, even if the pathway is indirect and the beneficiaries diffuse.
For more than a decade, FWD.us was a marquee example of Zuckerberg’s attempt to fuse Silicon Valley muscle with Washington policy, pushing immigration and criminal justice reform from the political center.
Scott’s model is explicitly trust‑based: large, unrestricted checks, minimal public involvement in governance, and repeat funding for equity‑focused organizations that can demonstrate impact in closing opportunity gaps.
MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, is moving in the opposite direction, embracing the very equity agendas many corporations and campuses are backing away from under political pressure. In 2025 alone, she announced roughly $7.1 billion in donations—bringing her total giving since 2019 to more than $26 billion—with a heavy tilt toward historically Black colleges and universities, tribal colleges, Native scholarship providers, and organizations serving low‑income and underrepresented students.
Hahaha……Stump is sending Rubio to GREENLAND.
In the WINTER.
