  1. perfect analogy, boss.

trump is playing bannon’s playbook to the hilt.  he’s purposely stirring up racial animus, dividing and successfully distracting from his bad past that’s come back to bite him in the form of jeffrey epstein.

even more successfully he has distracted media from covering all the positive legislation the House has passed which now sit forgotten in the Senate.

  2. Jamie, shouldn’t that be “HELL to the chief”

come to think of it there are some out there (you know those “fine people” he says are on the other side) who want it to be “Heil to the chief”

  3. really really felt sorry for sen chris coons this morning on cnn trying to point out to alisyn camerota how all the coverage still going on and on about the racist in the WH is distracting from coverage of the many important House bills that are languishing in mitch’s graveyard.  she kept interrupting him and not letting him talk about the bills but veering again and again back to the House resolution and the squad revolt.

  4. I wonder where the person never in the headlines, Steven Miller, is?  From what I have read about him, he is most likely telling SFB what to do.  When you have a dummy you need a puppeteer to make it move.

  5. another NH poll out according to boston globe via msn:

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads with 24 percent in the University of New Hampshire Survey Center/CNN poll. He’s slightly ahead of Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who are tied in second place with 19 percent.

The survey was taken July 8 to 15, and the margin of error among the 386 likely Democratic primary voters polled is 5 percent — meaning that technically Biden, Sanders and Warren are in a statistical tie.

Following the top trio, South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg is at 10 percent and Senator Kamala Harris of California is at 9 percent. All other candidates picked up 2 percent support or less.

    […]

As for President Trump, despite all of the recent controversies, his position remains relatively consistent in the survey of 864 randomly selected adults in New Hampshire, a swing state. Trump had an approval rating of 25 percent in the poll — his highest ever in the state — and up from 44 percent from the last survey.

At the same time, 51 percent of those surveyed disapprove of Trump’s job performance. And for those who want to oppose him in a Republican primary, such as former Massachusetts governor Bill Weld, it is important to note that 86 percent of likely Republican primary voters backed the President for re-election in the state (the sample size for this was 289 respondents, and the margin of error was 5.8 percent).

It’s worth noting that this UNH poll is one of the polls the Democratic National Committee uses to determine who can make the debate stage. While the field is largely set for the next debate later this month in Detroit, to qualify for the September debate in Houston, candidates must receive 2 percent in at least 4 qualifying polls.

For example, this survey is the fourth for former US representative Beto O’Rourke since June 28 in which he is at 2 percent.

But it’s also a missed opportunity for other candidates on the bubble, such as Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who has reached the 2 percent mark in three other polls, and tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang and former housing secretary Julian Castro, who have each reached that mark in a single poll.

  6. nbc news distraction from the twit’s latest distraction hit the airwaves this morning:
The footage shows two wealthy men laughing and pointing as they appear to discuss young and beautiful women dancing at a party.

Today, one of the men is president of the United States. The other is in federal lockup awaiting a bail decision as he fights sex trafficking and conspiracy charges.

The November 1992 tape in the NBC archives shows Donald Trump partying with Jeffrey Epstein at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, now a private club, more than a decade before Epstein pleaded guilty to felony prostitution charges in Florida.

The president says he hasn’t spoken to Epstein since, and that his relationship with him was no different than that of anyone else in their elite circle. “I knew him like everybody in Palm Beach knew him,” Trump said last week. “I was not a fan.”

But on the tape, Trump gives Epstein plenty of personal attention.

The 1992 footage was shot by NBC for Faith Daniels’ talk show, “A Closer Look,” in a profile of the newly divorced Trump’s lifestyle.

The future president was largely surrounded by cheerleaders for the Buffalo Bills, in town for a game against the Miami Dolphins. The women offered the camera glowing testimonials about their fun-loving host.

As music pumps in the background, the tape shows Trump walking through a corridor to greet Epstein and two other guests. “Come on in … Go inside,” Trump says.

Later in the footage, Trump is seen talking to Epstein and another man while they watch the women on the dance floor. Trump noted the presence of an NBC camera to Epstein, and both point out women, while Trump occasionally claps and dances to the beat.

Though exactly what they say is difficult to understand, Trump is seen gesturing to a woman and appears to say to Epstein, “Look at her, back there. … She’s hot.” Epstein reacted with a smile and nod.

Trump then said something else into Epstein’s ear that caused Epstein to double over with laughter.

But the president says now that he never liked Epstein.

  7. From Howard Fineman

    More

Historians who’ve studied the impeachment of say the real charge against him was not so much a particular high crime or misdemeanor as it was his foul, hate-filled ignorance and overall bad character. He was too putrid for the presidency. So there’s a precedent.

  8. I LOVE The Producers!  Not only is that clip a good analogy for trump….  that the two schemers also wind up in jail is perfect.

  9. I think making fun of Trump is a good way to go…he doesn’t like being humiliated so anything that achieves that is a good idea.

    Bring back the nude statues

  10. Well,  according to Godwins law we have reached the peak of uselessness in this conversation.  When you reach this point here is always the question :  Is the conversation over or is it now anything goes?
In line with the later, If the American people are given a choice between Hitler and Joseph Stalin then Hitler wins in a land slide.
And from a public perception of the loud mouths in the Democratic party and even the socialist slant of the democratic debates that is where we are headed.
If  Trump Republicans are successful in making it Stalin vrs Hitler  then the Democrats lose the election at all levels.
It is time for the Democrats to start using their brains.
I know, good luck with that.
    Jack

  11. jack, “Democrats to start using their brains”?   that would mean top candidates would have to be Booker and Buttigieg who not only are better educated, fluent in other languages as well as more coherent English but come across as  compassionate, very civil and responsive to real problems and their solutions.

however, they don’t stand a chance with the electorate

  12. and jack, as to the godwin-ese —  hard to ignore ole Adolf comparison when trump labels as “fine people” the folks who chanted “the jews will not replace us” as they marched torches in hand through charlottesville

  13. oh goody, more distraction on tomorrow

    NBC news:

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered prosecutors to release the unredacted search warrants and other documents related to Michael Cohen’s campaign finance case now that the investigation has concluded.

Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former lawyer and fixer, is serving a three-year prison sentence for a slew of crimes, including breaking campaign finance laws by hiding payments to two women who claimed they had affairs with Trump.

“The campaign finance violations discussed in the materials are a matter of national importance,” Judge William Pauley III said in court papers, denying the government’s request for limited redactions. “Now that the government’s investigation into those violations has concluded, it is time that every American has an opportunity to scrutinize the materials.”

Pauley ordered prosecutors in the Southern District of New York to release the materials by 11 a.m. Thursday.

Last August, Cohen admitted to making illegal payments to two women, identified as porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, at Trump’s behest to silence them ahead of the 2016 election.

    Trump has denied the affairs.

The New York probe has long been viewed as potentially perilous for Trump and his associates…

    […]

The FBI raided Cohen’s office and hotel suite on April 9, 2018, seeking evidence of bank fraud and hush money payments to Daniels and McDougal. In addition to the emails, the investigators seized cell phones and at least 12 audio recordings, federal prosecutors said in court documents released last year.

Prosecutors released nearly 900 pages of documents related to the case in March after several news organizations requested the unsealing of materials tied to the raids.

But those documents didn’t shed light on how an investigation that started with suspected bank fraud led to a probe of possible campaign finance crimes related to the payouts to Daniels and McDougal. The roughly 19 pages of the search warrant that detail the hush money scheme were all redacted.

The judge’s order calls for those pages — and the hundreds of others that were blacked out — to be released in full on Thursday.

  14. Damn, I’m lucky. I won’t need to warm the water when I wash the car this afternoon–Heat Index is 114

  15. Jack…  I realize that with life’s recent circumstances that you might not be in the best of moods from time to time….  but that doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t have a bit of fun on this blog.
    The best to you…

  16. Jack, I disagree, I think Hitler was the more evil by an order of magnitude, if not more. He did his best to annihilate an entire race as well as sub-racial groups such as gypsies and homosexuals. Stalin worked-over his own people for a couple of generations murdering over twenty million. The world united to whup Hitler and Hirohito; Eleanor Roosevelt whupped Stalin.

  17. Flatus, while as a matter of degree of evil Stalin wins in a landslide – and really, who can compete with Hitler when it comes to evil? – as a matter of form of government Hitler’s (Christian (!???!) Fascist government) is more like what SFB and his followers want the US to be, led by the Orange clown, than Stalin’s Socialist (actually Marxist-Leninist Communist) state.  If the government comes with the mass murderer the RW chooses Fascism with Hitler over Socialism with Stalin every day.  So in a sense, both you and Jack are right.

  18. And in the Tour de France today nothing of import happened with respect to the yellow jersey. Caleb Ewan won the stage with 59 riders in the leading Peloton group.  Alaphilippe continues to lead the tour with a 1’12” gap to Geraint Thomas who sits in 2nd.  But wait – Friday there is an individual time trial and  2 of the toughest mountain stages (in the Pyrenees) coming up in the following 2 days, so hold on to your hats – change is in the wind. (the big mama mountain stages (the Alps) are next Thursday and Friday).  Now it starts to get interesting.  The “big men” as Phil Liggett calls them, get to step up and show what they are made of.

  19. Pogo – I think this year will be as bad as last with the time cap in the mountains.  The push to punish the riders with a lot of climbs is going to fail.  I am enjoying watching Sagan right in the mix.  He is at his peak and I hope he does good this year.  What is obvious is that the next generation is taking over (again) and it is time to learn new names, riders and teams, and do a bit more research into them.

  20. stalin took 24 years to murder 10 – 20 M!LL!ON people. hitler did it in 12. tojo ONLY slew about 10 M!LL!ON. mao beats them all, but he was around nearly 50 years.
A bunch of trumpistas want to exterminate all 1.8 B!LL!ON Muslims – about 18 times the combined totals of stalin, hitler, tojo and mao. These monsters think BIG !
