10 Reasons to Check Your Voter Registration Right Now

Do not wait until Election Day to discover that somebody’s database has misplaced your Democracy.

Go to Vote.org right now and confirm that you are still registered, your address is correct and your polling place has not changed.
If you are not registered, do it now. State deadlines vary, and some begin arriving in early October.

Here’s why you must do this now:
  1. Georgia canceled nearly 471,000 registrations in 2025 after classifying the voters as inactive or having moved.
  2. Ohio identified more than 352,000 inactive registrations for possible removal after voters failed to respond to mailed notices.
  3. Alabama used outdated immigration records to flag more than 3,200 suspected noncitizens, many of whom were eligible naturalized citizens.
  4. Political activists challenged more than 63,000 Georgia voters using address databases that can contain incomplete or outdated information.
  5. States are comparing voter rolls with government death, felony, immigration and change-of-address databases that sometimes produce mistaken matches.
  6. Eligible voters can be removed after election mail is returned undelivered, even when they still legally reside at the registered address.
  7. Voters who skip several elections and overlook an official confirmation notice can have their registrations canceled for inactivity.
  8. Missing driver’s-license or Social Security information can place otherwise eligible voters into challenged or provisional-ballot status.
  9. Tarrant County, Texas, eliminated 92 Election Day voting locations this year, including a site at the University of Texas at Arlington.
  10. Changes in precinct boundaries, party procedures and polling locations have sent properly registered voters to the wrong place—including voters turned away during Texas’ 2026 primary.

    Trump also added that if he was elected as president of the United States again, “You won’t have to vote anymore.”
    “In four years, You don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not going have to vote,” he said.
    It was not immediately clear what he meant by the remark.

  6. Fair point about the boilerplate privacy language, PatD, although my own experience has been pretty tame. I’ve been signed up with Vote.org for a year and received all of three messages—all alerts about approaching registration deadlines in my ZIP code. Vote.org is a legitimate nonprofit, and I have seen no evidence that its registration checker has been compromised.

    Watch what Attorney General Todd Blanche is up to. Yesterday from the White House briefing room, he bragged about “hundreds of open investigations” into illegal voting and defended grabbing unredacted voter data from the states. When a reporter asked for evidence that mail-in voting is actually riddled with fraud, the chief law enforcement officer of the United States shrugged and said, “Well, it’s common sense.”

    That’s not a legal standard. That’s a partisan talking point dressed up with a badge.

    As the lawyers say, Blanche is laying a predicate. He is deliberately manufacturing a crisis so the feds have an excuse to intervene in local elections. He’s floating debunked claims of widespread noncitizen voting to justify a dragnet that sweeps up legitimate registrations.     For the third time, the House voted Tuesday to block President Trump from taking further military action against Iran, with seven Republicans breaking with the president.

    The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released an analysis Tuesday that estimated the war with Iran could cost approximately $2 billion to $3 billion per month for as long as it continues. Between Feb. 28 and Aug. 1, the war is estimated to have directly cost the U.S. about $38 billion.

    The vote ended in a 220 to 204 tally, marking a symbolic rebuke of the president over the largely unpopular war.

    Three new Republicans voted yes: Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina and Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn of Iowa.

    Nunn, who is in a competitive reelection bid, said in a post after the vote that he will “not support another open-ended war.”

    Miller-Meeks, another vulnerable Republican, added Wednesday, “The President needs to present a plan to Congress and the American people for how this ends so we can focus on bringing our soldiers home and lowering prices.”

    The National Design Studio (NDS) was established by a Donald Trump executive order last August, and is led by Trump-aligned Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia and staffed by Doge veterans.

    …quietly rebuilt some of the federal government’s most sensitive websites – for passport applications, voter registration, prescription-drug pricing and children’s savings – in ways critics say appear to violate federal law.

    Analysis of the underlying source code for four of the websites found that on at least two of them, the studio installed a commercial tool called PostHog that closely tracks what every visitor does on the site. Another tool, apparently made in-house, sends user data to a destination that is not visible on the public internet.

    A Guardian investigation has found the office has apparently been developing or redeveloping sensitive federal websites, including those connecting Americans with prescription drugs, children’s savings accounts, passports and voter registration. The investigation corroborates and advances earlier reporting by the Drey Dossier, a YouTube and Substack investigative outlet.

    The NDS apparently removed this tracking software after the Guardian reached out to the White House with a detailed series of questions on the NDS’s operations on 4 June.

    Donald Trump created the NDS by executive order on 21 August 2025, ostensibly to overhaul federal websites and digital services. The office sits within the executive office of the president as a”temporary organization”, a designation that places it outside the Senate confirmation process, outside the financial disclosure system applied to most federal appointees and outside the inspector general’s jurisdiction, which covers cabinet departments. The studio is staffed under the same hiring authority that ran Doge. The studio’s spending, and any contracts it holds with outside vendors, do not appear in the federal contracting database USAspending or in any other public-facing record of US government spending.

    A live capture of Oh, Mary!, starring its creator Cole Escola, will soon release on HBO and stream on HBO Max.

    Disney+ made sense as the digital home for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s optimistic smash musical Hamilton. The Mouse House would not be exactly the right fit for Cole Escola’s hit Broadway play Oh, Mary! to make its way to streaming.

    In 2027, HBO (and then HBO Max) will premiere a special recording of Oh, Mary! done during the play’s July 28, 2026 performance at the Trafalgar Theatre in London’s West End. It features the original cast headlined by Tony-winner and writer Cole Escola. They play Mary Todd Lincoln. Giles Terera stars as Mary’s Husband, Bianca Leigh plays Mary’s Chaperone, Tony Macht is Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, and Michael Urie rounds out the cast as Mary’s Teacher.

    *Conrad Ricamora as Lincoln was phenomenal, but every cast they’ve had has probably been tremendous; they had great material to work with. “Oh, Mary!” Is also touring in 2027.
