    President Donald Trump railed against the Georgia voting process — which is entirely under the control of Republican state officials — in a New Year’s night Twitter rant and then bizarrely declared the upcoming senate runoff elections “illegal and invalid,” just three days before he is due to hold a get-out-the-vote rally in that state.
    For an “illegal and invalid” election.
    Ok…?
    Back in the White House after unexpectedly leaving Mar-A-Lago before a New Year’s Eve party where he would have to face hundreds of revelers as the loser of the 2020 election, Trump spent the first day of 2021 the same way he’s spend the last few weeks of 2020 — pushing absurd election conspiracy theories in an anti-democratic attempt to overturn the will of the voters. But in the midst of wildly lashing out at his own defeat, he showed little concern for the collateral damage he was inflicting on the re-election hopes of Georgia GOP Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.
    “The Georgia Consent Decree is Unconstitutional & the State 2020 Presidential Election…is therefore both illegal and invalid, and that would include the two current Senatorial Elections,” Trump ranted, casting doubt on supporting Perdue and Loeffler to millions of his Twitter followers in the process.

Sad to see the final weeks of fake Melania, she was the only one to have a smile that was a  smile.  I have this question in the back of my head whether SFB might have tried to do his normal sexual attack on her.  If she is an agent I can hear her say something like “do that again and I will make you fall down these stairs” while smiling at the top of the boarding stairs of Air Force One.

  16. The second round of stimulus payments are arriving.  There is one element that is very unfair.  If you claim an adult as a dependent (adult child in college or one considered disabled or a parent receiving social security) you get nothing above the $600.

    Our family is okay because my son has remained employed.  He did receive the one $600 payment which will just cover the Social Security that hasn’t been deducted for the past four months and will now need to be paid back in this year.  

    Some families with an unemployed main earner have been living off of granny’s SS payment.  To not get that $600 for her really hurts.

    More evidence Congress doesn’t live in the real world.  Maybe they should send a bill to all the new billionaires who have been making out like bandits courtesy of Covid.

    Eleven Senate Republicans on Saturday announced that they will object to the Electoral College results Wednesday, when Congress convenes in a joint session to formally count the vote. 
    GOP Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas), Ron Johnson (Wis.), James Lankford (Okla.), Steve Daines (Mont.), John Kennedy (La.), Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.) and Mike Braun (Ind.) and Sens.-elect Cynthia Lummis (Wyo.), Roger Marshall (Kan.), Bill Hagerty (Tenn.) and Tommy Tuberville (Ala.) said in a joint statement that they will object to the election results until there is a 10-day audit. 
    “Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states,” they said. “Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.
    “Accordingly, we intend to vote on Jan. 6 to reject the electors from disputed states as not ‘regularly given’ and ‘lawfully certified’ (the statutory requisite), unless and until that emergency 10-day audit is completed,” they added. 
    The group’s announcement means that at least a dozen GOP senators will object on Wednesday. GOP Sen. Josh Hawley (Mo.) was the first senator to announce he would be joining a band of House conservatives to force a debate and vote on the Electoral College results.

  46. So, on Christmas I told my nephew about the old Denver and Rio Grande line  over Tennessee Pass , and Peter Simonson’s  idea to put these things on it .
    Pete stuck this brain worm in my head over 7 years ago .  The problem was that the line is now in the Union Pacific  network , and hasn’t had freight train on it since  1997. 
     When I told my nephew about that  whole log jam  of asking to run these little carts over the tracks of the largest R.R. in America.  Little did I know , that long log  jam was being broken.  
    On the last day of 2020 ,  this happened –

    The Colorado, Midland & Pacific Railway Company Thursday announced it has completed an agreement with the Union Pacific Railroad for commercial use on the line, which stretches from roughly Canon City to Eagle.
    The Colorado, Midland is a subsidiary of the Rio Grande Pacific Corporation, which operates freight and passenger railroads in eight states.

    The entire line is 167 miles long , it follows the Arkansas River  from the  top of Tenn. Pass to Pueblo .  That is a drop of over 5,700 ft.  The upper valley from Salida to the top of the pass  runs next to the tallest mountains in the state .
    The lower valley from Salida to Canon City is narrow canyon land.   With  the Royal Gorge  part of the last leg before Canon City .  This leg you are right next to the river. 
    This could the largest  tourist venue in the state  by organizing the various towns along the line , and putting in depots for this type of traffic.  The upper valley has a huge rafting industry  now.  And their operations are a blueprint for this. 
    This idea is bigger than Dallas .  And if it was up and running this spring ,  the bookings would be in the tens of thousands. 
    And the  whole ride  is powered  by   gravity assist.  
     
    I  have the bit in my teeth ,  and if need be my gums. 
     
     
     

  47. The last day of 2020  I had a flat on my right front . 
     
    The tires on my car  are too old to fix , I bought a new one today , the last one at Discount Tire.  They have stopped making my tires.  I have one on my left rear  that looks like Rudy the lawyer for the  shoe polish trade organization.
    I plan  replacing it Monday  .
    All because that $600 bucks hit my account .
    A flat tire at  71 , is like the tallest mountain I ever climbed. 
    Oh wait ,  that was  last year, when the toilet  supply line parted and pumped  50 gallons of water  into the house.
