  1. earlier this week from NY Post Tropical weather targets both US coasts at same time for first time in more than 50 years
A potentially catastrophic weather pattern is heading toward the US, with two tropical storms set to simultaneously slam both coasts this weekend — a freak occurrence that hasn’t happened in 50 years.
Hurricane Isaias continues to barrel toward the Gulf Coast Thursday— becoming the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season — and could slam the Alabama coast and Florida panhandle Friday.
Meanwhile, the remnants of Hurricane Rachel are expected to send a surge of tropical moisture into California and the Southwest, triggering heavy rain and flooding this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
    […]
The meteorological witch’s brew could mark only the third time since 1963 that competing storms have made landfall along the East and West coasts at the same time.
The last time this occurred was Sept. 6, 1972, when Tropical Depression Dawn impacted the Atlantic side of the US while Post-Tropical Hyacinth affected the West.
A similar setup occurred on Sept. 18, 1963, when Tropical Storm Cindy slammed the Atlantic side while Tropical Depression Jen-Kath affected the Pacific side.
Now, more than five decades later, another potential “tale of two coasts” is unfolding.
    […]
The storm has put the University of Alabama on high alert ahead of its heavyweight football matchup against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs, which President Trump is scheduled to attend, the school told AL.com.
Meanwhile, Californians, meanwhile, are advised to prepare for coastal flooding, beach erosion and sudden temperature drops — and potentially 15-foot waves.
Rachel is expected to weaken into a post-tropical system before reaching Southern California, meaning the biggest threat won’t be hurricane-force winds but rather heavy rain, thunderstorms and dangerous surf.

  9. HISTORIC: Air Force Protester Charges

    Covering the Coverage

Harsher than usual charges against dissenter Major Jason Watson provokes media whiplash. Mainstream outlets fixate on the “unprecedented” nature of Article 88. Progressive framing paints him as a whistleblowing martyr, while military voices demand total compliance. The absurdity? We have a system aggressively prosecuting a single dissenting logistics officer while completely ignoring the broader constitutional chaos he was protesting in the first place.

  10. The whole krasnov deal with puttie for diesel fuel is literally the U.S. handing money to the invader of Ukraine. The refineries and shipping facilities that russia has are targets and burn very nicely. Yesterday Ukraine damaged a shipping facility used for loading diesel fuel into tankers. A response to sfb giving money to russia.

They cannot ship what they cannot produce or load on a ship.

  11. Nice connection of dots there, BB. Now that we’re doing an oil deal Trump will claim Ukraine attacks on the facilities is an attack on us?

By the way, we are supplying literally NOTHING to Ukraine these days!

Something unsettling is happening with AI robot dogs – and experts are worried
Scientists and engineers developing AI-powered robot dogs are creating machines that appear increasingly autonomous, adaptive, and unpredictable. The deeper researchers push artificial intelligence into robotic systems, the more unsettling the technology begins to feel. Advanced movement, decision-making systems, and environmental awareness are allowing robot dogs to operate in ways that once seemed impossible. Some experts are now questioning how far autonomous robotics should evolve before the risks become difficult to control. And the rapid advancement of AI robot dogs is beginning to raise serious concerns about the future of intelligent machines.

Blackwater founder Erik Prince’s forces suffered a major battlefield loss in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo in mid-September when enemy forces ambushed them, killing and wounding at least 20 people, including a popular former UFC fighter, sources close to the government and his company said.

The frontline clash ‌shows how Prince, an ally and supporter of US President Donald Trump, has taken on an expanded role in Congo through his company Vectus Global. The company, which ‌also operates in Haiti and other parts of Africa, provides consulting and security services and previously helped Congo’s army secure the city of Uvira in South Kivu against Rwanda-backed rebels who control swathes of the east.

The attack in South Kivu on September 17 left about 20 dead and wounded, two sources working with Congo’s government said. The dead included at least seven Congolese and a former member of New Zealand’s Special Forces, while the wounded included Kennedy and another foreign contractor, the sources said.

  18. Roger Marshall’s complicated history of blurring the line between taxpayer dollars and campaign cash

In a joint investigation, Kansas Reflector and MS NOW obtained records from Marshall’s first Senate run that raise concerns about his use of office resources

According to Marshall’s most recent Federal Election Commission records filed in July, no one working for Marshall’s campaign had received a paycheck in the past five years — a situation that campaign finance experts said was potentially unprecedented in the modern era of politics.

But according to Marshall’s chief of staff, Brent Robertson, the campaign now does have some paid staff, though he declined to offer evidence or details, such as how many people were being paid or when their employment began.

Ken Paxton’s Security for Travel Cost Taxpayers Millions. Just 1 in 6 of His Trips Had a Stated Business Purpose.

In the summer of 2023, after he was impeached on charges of abusing his office for personal gain, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was suspended and barred from conducting any official business for more than three months while awaiting trial in the state Senate.
    So, he traveled.
Paxton, a Republican who is now running for U.S. Senate, took at least 17 trips over three months, including to resort destinations Park City, Utah, and Vail, Colorado. He visited the Oklahoma town where he owns a vacation lodge and a Utah community with a golf resort, where he later bought four condominiums.
State police joined him each time, costing taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars for trips unrelated to his job as attorney general. The Texas Senate ultimately acquitted him on the impeachment charges.
But Paxton’s use of the taxpayer-funded detail did not begin or end there. In fact, it stands out compared with his predecessor, fellow elected officials in Texas and other state attorneys general, ProPublica and The Texas Tribune found.

Rubio’s Fake ICC Threat & Trump’s Russia Giveaway

Marco Rubio threatens the International Criminal Court while Donald Trump eases sanctions on Russian oil as Ukraine reports chemical attacks.

We kick things off with Senator Marco Rubio making wild threats to bankrupt the International Criminal Court. Apparently, he thinks he can just cut off global banking access because a jurist won a Nobel Peace Prize. It is purely performative outrage meant for an audience of one: Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Trump himself is talking about easing sanctions on Russian diesel, pumping US dollars into Vladimir Putin’s war machine right as Ukraine reports thousands of chemical incidents on the battlefield. Pure chaos.

Down in Georgia, Jon Ossoff left Mike Collins completely flattened during their debate. Ossoff pointed out that Collins hired half the Third Reich for his congressional office while taking money out of his constituents’ pockets to fund data center developers. Up in Maine, Susan Collins is getting heckled by her own state’s voters with the new campaign mantra, “You can’t eat rock salt!” The desperation from these incumbents is palpable.

We also check in on the Ohio Senate race, where Sherrod Brown just dropped a brutal ad exposing the lies pushed by John Husted and his Jeffrey Epstein connections. Plus, a look at Allan Lichtman and the Cook Report’s latest midterm predictions, the baffling Air Force court-martial of Major Watson, and a message from Barack Obama to get everyone fired up for the final stretch.

  25. Election interference update:

U.S. District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan ruled that the United States Department of Justice acted unlawfully by collecting state voter-registration records, comparing them against federal immigration databases, and pressuring states to remove people identified as possible noncitizens.
In a 78-page decision, the judge vacated the department’s voter-list maintenance policy, finding violations of federal privacy and administrative laws. The ruling also determined that DOJ lacked statutory authority for the program. The court cited actual instances of eligible American citizens being improperly removed from voter rolls. CourtListener

The scale is considerable. Eighteen states had provided voter information to the department. DOJ has also sued 30 states and Washington, D.C., seeking voter records. According to Reuters, it has lost 26 of those cases without winning one. Reuters

An important legal distinction: This is a separate case from the June ruling concerning the expanded SAVE database, which the Supreme Court temporarily stayed on September 25. Friday’s decision addresses DOJ’s collection and use of state voter records. It does not categorically prohibit states from maintaining accurate registration lists or independently conducting lawful eligibility checks. CourtListener

The Justice Department says it is reviewing the decision. An appeal remains possible.
Assessment: A significant judicial countermeasure against federal intervention in state election administration.
This ruling is especially important because it addresses the same federal voter-data operation that became more concerning following the October 7 disclosures about ICE’s election investigations.
The next developments worth watching are whether DOJ seeks an emergency stay, whether federal agencies continue obtaining voter information through other channels, and whether states take steps to restore registrations improperly canceled.
    For the original documentation:
Federal court opinion, October 9, 2026, Common Cause v. DOJ, Case 1:26-cv-01352, Document 51, 78 pages
Reuters: October 9 report on the ruling

This is a consequential victory for state control of election administration, although its practical effect will depend partly on whether the ruling survives further judicial review.

Talarico’s campaign told reporters Thursday he was still recovering and planned to return to the campaign trail this weekend.

With early voting fast approaching, Talarico stepped off the trail near the start of last week after revealing he had been diagnosed with the flu.

  37. I watched that German-made “downfall” movie recently that people used to make all those Hitler in the bunker memes years ago

It uses the perspective of a young female true believer who applies and is hired to be Hitler’s secretary

The movie starts with an interview of the actual person as an old woman who inspired that character, and she tells how her family and friends all told her to stay away from the Nazis, but she applied anyway

    and later regretted it

  39. https://www.military.com/trump-sanctions-entire-icc-drawing-rebuke-from-us-allies

Although Israel and the United States never joined the ICC, Palestine did. In 2021, the court affirmed its jurisdiction over Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

That allows the ICC to investigate crimes committed there even when the home country of the accused person never joined. Whether alleged assistance provided from elsewhere falls within its jurisdiction requires a separate assessment of the conduct and its connection to those crimes.

  40. DAWN’s Statement on U.S. Sanctions on the Entire International Criminal Court

“ICC prosecutors also have tools when a state intimidates or retaliates to stop Court officials from doing their jobs: the Rome Statute makes this a crime. They should investigate and prosecute Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and other senior administration officials for obstructing justice.”

Article 70 of the Rome Statute criminalizes offences against the administration of justice, including impeding, intimidating, or corruptly influencing an official of the court to force that official not to perform their duties, and retaliating against an official on account of duties performed.

The article contains no nationality requirement, and it carries a penalty of up to five years in prison. The court has used it before. In 2016, Trial Chamber VII convicted former Congolese Vice President Jean-Pierre Bemba and four associates under Article 70 for corruptly influencing witnesses, the court’s first convictions for obstructing its own proceedings. The ICC President has previously described sanctions as an attack on its independence. The prosecutor has the authority to open an Article 70 investigation into the US officials responsible for these sanctions.

  41. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/18/trump-eric-don-jr-cryptocurrency-world-liberty-financial.html

…last March, when a company partly owned by President Donald Trump and his family began to market an alternative to the dollar, a cryptocurrency dubbed “USD1.”

The value of USD1, which is marketed as a stablecoin, would track the dollar, much as the dollar when it was created in 1792 was initially pegged to the value of the then-dominant Spanish silver dollar.

But one big question is why, if the dollar needs modernizing, should that be done by the private sector.

And why should the venture be in the private hands of the president and his family, and not in the hands of the U.S. Treasury?

…what’s driving them is a raw sense of retribution.

The Trump brothers see the wider financial system as part of an establishment that unfairly ostracized them after their father left power in 2021, when, after the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot, the banking system broadly declined to do business with the Trump family.

“You know, we didn’t get into crypto because we were on the leading edge,” Donald Trump Jr. said in an interview Wednesday with CNBC’s Sara Eisen. “We got into it out of necessity. They basically forced us into it.”

Eric Trump told Eisen, “We were the most cancelled people in the world in 2020, 2021, and it’s really great to almost have this retribution where all of a sudden we start pushing an agenda.”

“Our agenda was to modernize finance, to allow that to never ever, ever happen to anybody again,” Eric Trump said.

Donald Trump Jr. said he concluded that the traditional banking system is a “Ponzi scheme.”

“They created this monster,” Trump Jr. said, pointing to the moment when he claimed “when you had every big bank in the world, for doing nothing wrong,” “debank” Trump accounts and those of other conservatives, “just based on the fact that we all wore a hat that said ‘Make America Great Again.’”

Eric Trump recalled his father’s time out of the White House between presidential terms as a traumatizing period for the family.

“These are commercial buildings, residential buildings, golf courses around the world. These aren’t political entities, and they were pulling these accounts from us like we were absolute dogs,” Eric Trump said.

“We couldn’t pay our vendors, we couldn’t pay our employees. And so we said, listen, there has to be a better way.”

With the Acropolis in Athens as a backdrop, Rubio presented the United States, founded in the 18th century, as the inheritor of ancient Western civilisation running from Greece to Rome.

During the speech, he argued that modern-day Western countries have lost their confidence, weakened their industries and militaries, and need renewed ambition and power in the future.

Referencing the ancient Greco-Persian Wars, he used the Persian destruction of Athens in 480 BC under King Xerxes I as an example of Western civilisation surviving an external enemy.

“The Persians plundered the temples, burned the shrines and razed the Acropolis to the ground,” Rubio said. He subsequently hailed the return of the Athenians and the construction of the Parthenon under Pericles.

The top US diplomat also directed his rhetoric against Iran’s current leaders, who have been in power since a 1979 Islamic revolution, calling them “fanatics” who run a “death cult” that wields martyrdom as a tool to achieve their political objectives.

“The threats we face today are every bit as real as they were on the dramatic stage of antiquity,” Rubio claimed. He boasted that the choice of President Donald Trump’s administration was the “unapologetic pursuit of national power”.

Iran’s security chief, Mohsen Rezaei, and parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf both responded by invoking the Roman Emperor Valerian, who was captured alive by Persian King Shapur I’s forces in battle in 260 AD.

“Anyone who brings history into this must be prepared for its repetition,” Rezaei said.

The earliest recorded archive of written materials comes from the ancient Sumerian city-state of Uruk in around 3400 BC, when writing had only just begun to develop.[13] Scholarly curation of literary texts began in around 2500 BC.[13] The later kingdoms and empires of the ancient Near East had long traditions of book collecting.[14][3] The ancient Hittites and Assyrians had massive archives containing records written in many different languages.[14] The most famous library of the ancient Near East was the Library of Ashurbanipal in Nineveh, founded in the seventh century BC by the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal (r. 668 – c. 627

The earliest examples of Chinese are divinatory inscriptions on oracle bones from around 1250 BC, in the Late Shang period. Bronze inscriptions became plentiful during the following Zhou dynasty. The latter part of the Zhou period saw a flowering of literature, including classical works such as the Analects, the Mencius, and the Zuo Zhuan. These works served as models for Literary Chinese (or Classical Chinese), which remained the written standard until the early twentieth century, thus preserving the vocabulary and grammar of late Old Chinese.
