Lucky news here at Trail Mix International Headquarters. A major thunderstorm has knocked out DIRECTV and I TrumpTV as well. Take your pick, that’s all the news channels want to talk about, so thank the Lord Almighty, his or her own self, for shutting them down! A chance to catch up on recently recorded episodes of “Better Call Saul”

Good for you.. Better Call Saul is a better choice.. :0)
Good for you, Craig. But you do know that you can choose to take a break from watching the news or cable stations anytime you want… don’t you.
For instance, tonight I will be watching American Idol and then Hell’s Kitchen with a smattering of a Bruins game whenever commercials come on.
So… take control of that remote… shut it off if need be… take a 12 step program if that’ll do the trick. 🙂
PatD – From OT – Hillary’s stint as SOS is exactly why I don’t think she’d make a good chief exec. From the Russian “reset,” to Benghazi, to the server/email mess, she was not good at the job. Giving her more responsibly and power is not a good idea.
Again, if she makes it to the OO, I hope she proves me wrong.
Craig – Enjoy the media blackout.
Watching Soul on Ice Documentary (Hockey not Eldridge Cleaver) on NHL Network.

Kill Your tv. NPR is smarter.
listening to this song reminds me of Lake Charles Louisiana Which makes me remember an old trail mixer CT or carol down on her river > hope she is doing well.

” … is the kindest, bravest, warmest most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.” – The Manchurian Candidate (1962)
Watched this movie last Friday & it reminded me of a great series TCM had back in 2008 when it let the Presidential Candidates each choose a favorite movie & talk about it. Stuff like that reveals interesting insight into these people. (If any current candidate chose A Thousand Clowns he/she would get my vote. No others need apply.)
ok this is what you tube surfing is all about, something new
Reminds me of the old days when Patsi was around
Jack
It used to be that you could surf you tube and never get stuck. wonder from theDylan and the band to the John Deere polka and back, but they have got it perfected and they believe they know what I want. hardm to find anything new, boring. Sad but true. google is the same way. The world is going to hell.
So I did a Dylan search. can’t go wrong with Dylan but I miss it when Youtube would throw something at me off the wall

“So Ben Carson is saying that because Obama didn’t grow up poor, he didn’t grow up black,” Noah said after playing the clip of Carson’s comments. “That is such a bullshit argument. Being poor isn’t what makes you black.”
“Because if it is, then there are a lot of people living in trailers in the middle of America who will be very upset to hear the news,” Noah continued. “‘I’m what??’ But they’re not black. And we know this. Because if they were, their trailers would have nicer rims.”
from the federalist:
Star-struck, low-information celebrity cultists will vote for Trump under any circumstances because they do not know any better and do not care. For them, Trump is whatever they want him to be, and they will never change their minds. The rest of us, however, have a much more difficult choice to make. Will we really oppose Trump to the point of accepting any alternative, including Hillary Clinton?
The answer, at least for me, is: Yes. If forced into a choice between Clinton and Trump, I will prefer Hillary Clinton. The future of the entire conservative movement is at stake, and a Clinton victory over Trump might be the only hope of saving it.
[….] …“Hamilton Rule,” named after Alexander Hamilton. Although both were Federalists, Hamilton despised John Adams and his coterie among his own party to the point where he was willing to lose the election of 1800. “If we must have an enemy at the head of government,” Hamilton said in exasperation, “let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible.”
In other words: Better to lose to a true enemy whose policies you can fight and repudiate, rather than to a false friend whose schemes will drag you down with him. This is a painful choice, but it also embraces realism while protecting the possibility of recovery in the future. The need to live to fight another day is why conservatives should adopt a Hamilton Rule if, God forbid, the choice comes down to Hillary and Trump.
