    If Donald Trump had prepared for the first debate as well as he prepped for this one he might still have a slim chance.

    However He wasn’t the only one who upped their game. IMO Clinton had a great debate and blew him out of the water. She channelled her anger so well.

  153. Back-reading the thread, a partisan lens may obscure the fact that Trump “won” this debate, applying the ridiculous but frequently applied standard of efficacy of slander and emotional appeal.

  154. No! Trump did not win. He was disgusting to the point of needing to take a shower after he was done. It was a shameful display from the outset and did not improve with the passage of time. He was obnoxious and disingenuous throughout and that when he was on he was on his A game. the rest of the time he was nothing but an uninformed boor.  If disgrace is a qualification for office , Trump has it in spades.

When a candidate has to request you go to a website instead of telling you in the moment, that’s not a win.  He succeeded in damaging Clinton, and considering he is headed for electoral defeat, that is as close to a win as he can get.  Clinton had no good responses to any of his attacks. You hear what you want- no skin off my teeth.

  158. The three actual polls taken following the debate, politico, CNN & there was one other, of registered or likely voters all had Clinton winning. And Bink, 2 minute answers don’t provide enough time to delve into details, especially to debunk lies about complex issues like tax plans. Trump will have pleased his base, but I doubt he won over any educated suburban women with his bullying.

  162. Trump lost it in the first 30 seconds IMO when he ducked the tough one, I’m not sure there is an acceptable answer. If I were him I would blame Billy Bush for egging him on then say he was playing a role at the time and his comments got out of hand. Then say, ” yes they were extremely offensive and I apologize.”

    Something like that would have stopped it

    As it was he ducked the question and did his best to never answer it.

    Clinton only had one stumble and Trump pounced on it when she used Lincoln as a defence. There was a practical explanation that would have played to experience and serving the people but she didn’t use it. After all, politicians often have public and private views because they are representatives and often their beliefs and the beliefs of the people they represent aren’t the same. They aren’t dictators that get to go with what they want all the time.

  165. The deadbeat applied a tourniquet to his political wounds, but he may not be finished bleeding. His first 20 minutes were disastrous. In his apology he was dismissive and insincere. Boasting that he grabbed women’s pudenda and mammae and that he attempted to seduce a married woman – behind Melania’s back – is not something to dismiss. It makes the deadbeat comparable to the bill Clinton that the repubs claim to despise.

    Meanwhile, Ms Clinton looked and sounded like the victor. However she passed on many opportunities to ruin him. His claim that she never did anything about health care was such a YUUUUUJ whopper that she could have humiliated him. What about the enormous effort to create Clinton Care and get the Congress to pass it. What about SCHIP ?  Also, she could have continued talking about the deadbeat’s admitted criminal sexual conduct, forcing him to lie that he was just telling dirty stories/lies to impress bill bush.

    Clinton could also have reminded us that k-daffy supported rebel and terrorist groups that killed tens of thousands of bystanders in Sub Saharan Africa and Algeria. Anywhat, the noxious deadbeat got off easy.

  166. Basically Clinton won because he and she both need a certain group of women to win. Clinton spoke to those women Trump didn’t.
