On the issue of “Leave no one behind”, just remember how long it is taking to return the lost from Viet Nam.
My heart is with the family and friends of our nation’s lost servicemembers. May your memory be eternal 🤍
I am thinking about all the Afghanistan veterans I met at the VA Hospital during many trips there with Dad and how sad their fates were. Let’s remember that thanks to them there were no attacks from there on our soil while they did their job. They did not suffer in vain.
A White House official said Monday that since the Taliban took control of Kabul in mid-August, the U.S. had evacuated and facilitated the evacuation of approximately 116,700 people. Since the end of July, the U.S. has relocated approximately 122,300 people, the official said. About 1,500 Afghans were evacuated from the country over the last 24 hours and every service members is now out of the country, McKenzie said.
The announcement said all military equipment had been decommissioned. I assume that is a technical term and it doesn’t mean that the stuff we left behind isn’t operational. Where are the humvees, etc., so we can render them useless?
It sounds like the car bomb taken out by drone made it difficult for them to cause more havoc while we tried to extract folks.

Hoping the best for American citizens still in Afghanistan but really why didn’t they leave months ago when it was easy?
I am worried Isis will grab Americans left behind and behead them. Why they didn’t leave months ago when it was easy I do not understand.
Gen. McKenzie: “There’s a lot of heartbreak associated with this departure. We did not get out everybody that we wanted to get out, but I think if we stayed another 10 days we wouldn’t have gotten everybody out we wanted to get out,” centcom cmdr. says. “It’s a tough situation.”
We left, but our drones can be launched from elsewhere?
Are there other groups trying to ferry folks out of Afghanistan?
Craig – at this moment I am waiting for more information, a lot of information about those still in country. Of interest is the back comment that the taliban is working with other countries to establish a government in Afghanistan, the US will not be official. That means there is not to be official acknowledgement that the taliban is the government. There is the possibility that the desire to run a country is heavier then killing off the good citizens of that country.

The answer Poobah is painfully obvious. Read the goddamn writing on the wall, don’t expect a fucking miracle and GTF out at your earliest opportunity. I really don’t understand any other option.
The Caldor Fire forced the evacuation of basically the entirety of South Lake Tahoe, a resort community of 22,000, on Monday. Firefighters are waging an all-out battle to keep the fire from reaching the town and wreaking havoc in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Among the tools at their disposal are the snow guns used at the ski resorts that dot the surrounding mountains. On Sunday night, remarkable scenes unfolded at Sierra-at-Tahoe, a resort located along Route 50 and smack in the middle of the Caldor Fire’s path. There, firefighters and the resort stood against the flames.
