Since Wednesday afternoon, Fox News/Fox Business programming has mentioned Hunter Biden at least 16 times. Matt Gaetz has not been mentioned once.

  1.

    amazon’s review quote about above book to be released 4/6/21:

    I come from a family forged by tragedies and bound by a remarkable, unbreakable love,” Hunter Biden writes in this deeply moving memoir of addiction, loss, and survival.

  2. craig, knowing the book is about to more than likely receive favorable or sympathetic reviews,  faux news is trying to get their licks in to discredit whomever and whatever they can before then.

    there probably will be a lot of such reviews like this in usatoday faux wants to distract from:

    In his revealing memoir “Beautiful Things,” Hunter Biden tells a story about addiction that at times may appear sensational: smoking crack cocaine every 15 minutes, the two weeks he spent thousands of dollars on drugs, the intervention led by the now president of the United States that ended with his father chasing him around outside their family home in Delaware.
    But mental health experts say his journey is also deeply relatable for others living with addiction: the shame he struggled with, the relapses he overcame, the humility he eventually found.
    His brutal honesty about his struggles with addiction is important for his own healing as well as for others living with substance use disorders, experts say.
    Kelly E. Green, a psychologist and associate professor at St. Edward’s University, said when public figures like Biden tell their stories it plays “a really important role in de-stigmatizing addiction and (illustrates) the multiple paths to recovery.”

  3. as for matt, who needs anything from fox with ‘toons like this most days in major newspapers within and nearby his congressional district:

    and

  4. jamie, a story just for you from the guardian :

    In one giant nest are bald eagles named Guardian and Liberty, lovingly nurturing their three fluffy new chicks through their first days of life. In another, sit Shadow and Jackie, taking turns to carefully but forlornly incubate an egg they don’t yet realize is never going to hatch.

    The compelling stories and contrasting fortunes of the two pairs of breeding raptors, live streamed to the world on YouTube from California, have become essential viewing for hundreds of thousands during the coronavirus lockdown, and in many ways symbolic of the vagaries and sadnesses of the pandemic itself.

  5. more doggone news so to speak in the guardian:

    Joe Biden’s dog, Major, bites second person in a month

    German shepherd ‘nipped someone while on a walk’, then today one of the dogs left faeces on the White House floor

    not so sure that particular scat wasn’t leftover from the former guy — hard to clean up 4 years of his BS & maga crap

  6. Another moldy breadcrumb from Fox Noise for their followers.

    When I talk to relatives in California, they often bring up really weird things, and often with only a grain of anything real. For instance, Gavin is not Nancy’s nephew. (His aunt was married to Nancy’s BIL; they divorced in the 70s.) I had to go look it up, because it’s not news. It’s garbage from Faux News.

    I would like to hear the song of Nestor, the “adopted” (not really) brother of a former girlfriend of Gaetz.

  7. Patd

    Thank you for the eagle story.  It has not been a good year for the eagles.  Several nests have lost eaglets to rodenticides and lead poisoning from fishing lines and lures.  To top it off a major fire at a bird sanctuary site just killed about 80 birds.

    I’m starting to think human beings are not good for other living things.

  8. rachel’s take

    Rachel Maddow shares breaking news from the New York Times that DOJ investigators are looking at women recruited and paid for sex, and cites receipts for the payments among the evidence. Aired on 04/02/2021.

  9. If you’re a creepy guy who is pushing 40, wouldn’t it be easier to engage with young females if you had a young guy around to use as bait?

  10. good for boehner for speaking up

    Panic Rooms, Birth Certificates and the Birth of GOP Paranoia – POLITICO

    […]

    Under the new rules of Crazytown, I may have been Speaker, but I didn’t hold all the power. By 2013 the chaos caucus in the House had built up their own power base thanks to fawning right-wing media and outrage-driven fundraising cash. And now they had a new head lunatic leading the way, who wasn’t even a House member. There is nothing more dangerous than a reckless asshole who thinks he is smarter than everyone else. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Senator Ted Cruz. He enlisted the crazy caucus of the GOP in what was a truly dumbass idea. Not that anybody asked me.

  11. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/04/01/american-airlines-dell-voting-texas/

    Trying to get ahead of it in Texas!

    “American Airlines and Dell Technologies on Thursday publicly declared their opposition to Republican legislative proposals that would impose new restrictions on voting.“

    “The right to vote is foundational to our democracy and a right coveted by all. We believe every voter should have a fair opportunity to let their voice be heard,” the statement from Southwest Airlines said.“

    “AT&T’s statement said it would be working with the Business Roundtable “to support efforts to enhance every person’s ability to vote.”

    Lt. Turd, Dan Patrick:
    “In response to American Airlines’ opposition, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick — who deemed SB 7 a legislative priority — released a statement in which he argued the legislation included “comprehensive reforms that will ensure voting in Texas is consistent statewide and secure.”

    Please note that “consistent” means homogenous and “secure” means wealthy and white.

  12. abc news:

    After reports that someone hit two U.S. Capitol Police officers with a car, Capitol Police opened fire at the north barricade of the Capitol complex, law enforcement sources tell ABC News.

    Two officers are said to be injured, one critically, the sources said. Law enforcement sources tell ABC News the suspect is dead.

  13. Wow, that’s a neat baseball picture- you can see the ball deforming, the bat deflecting, and the catcher reflexively grabbing for a ball that will never reach his glove

  14. There’s nothing creepy at all about a thirty-something sex-offender adopting the underaged child of an vulnerable ex-girlfriend, BiD😬

  15. Well, he just pretended to adopt him.

    Geatz did not formally adopt Nestor (and he declines to discuss Nestor’s relationship with his biological family now). He re-frames the matter, saying, “Our relationship as a family is defined by our love for each other, not by any paperwork.”

    This – from a lawyer.  I do adoptions – this ain’t one.

  16.  I hope Toronto (and all other teams) pull out of Texas home games, starting with Monday’s opening day game.  A full stadium is a bad idea.  Of course, the COVID variants will be thrilled.

  17. The Georgia  boycotts …………
    It’s a pretty big slap down when MLB picks the side that ain’t white in Tye Cobb’s home state.
    This solution of voter suppression , may turn into the worst move the Wing-Nut Party has made yet . They’re not only going to hit their targets, they’re  hit a lot of their own base.
    Nazis in the Rotunda

  18. You can’t start conspiracy theories on trailmix because some know-it-all will correct you instantly, if you’re trying

  19. Well, Bink, I wouldn’t know about THAT. (But I do know this – shit’s rising for Gaetz). I hope he drowns in it.

  20. Blue –
    MLB just threw the ball back on the field .
    That freak from Florida , is just that, …………. another frickin’ freak from Florida.
    Otherwise known as  ……………. AFFFF .

  21. Hm, i thought we were discussing politics, but i guess it’s song time?

    (2003 remaster? yes, plz🙂)

  22. April is poetry month.  Any favorites?

    Sonnet 98: From you have I been absent in the spring

    From you have I been absent in the spring,
    When proud-pied April, dressed in all his trim,
    Hath put a spirit of youth in everything,
    That heavy Saturn laughed and leaped with him.
    Yet nor the lays of birds, nor the sweet smell
    Of different flowers in odour and in hue,
    Could make me any summer’s story tell,
    Or from their proud lap pluck them where they grew:
    Nor did I wonder at the lily’s white,
    Nor praise the deep vermilion in the rose;
    They were but sweet, but figures of delight
    Drawn after you, – you pattern of all those.
        Yet seem’d it winter still, and, you away,
        As with your shadow I with these did play.
  23. One thing about this bloody pandemic we all went to , “Monk School” whether we wanted to or ” knot “.

    The Vision Quest –
    If one sits on a mountain for three days with no water, and no food .
    You will have vision .
    If you spent over 50 days in a snow bound log cabin alone.
    You will talk your ass-off when people show up.
    If you spent 23.5 hours in your house for over a year .
    You get to cancel your subscription to the resurrection. On ” Good Friday ” !

  24. The Men That Don’t Fit In

    BY ROBERT W. SERVICE

    There’s a race of men that don’t fit in,
        A race that can’t stay still;
    So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
        And they roam the world at will.
    They range the field and they rove the flood,
        And they climb the mountain’s crest;
    Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
        And they don’t know how to rest.

    If they just went straight they might go far;
        They are strong and brave and true;
    But they’re always tired of the things that are,
        And they want the strange and new.
    They say: “Could I find my proper groove,
        What a deep mark I would make!”
    So they chop and change, and each fresh move
        Is only a fresh mistake.

    And each forgets, as he strips and runs
        With a brilliant, fitful pace,
    It’s the steady, quiet, plodding ones
        Who win in the lifelong race.
    And each forgets that his youth has fled,
        Forgets that his prime is past,
    Till he stands one day, with a hope that’s dead,
        In the glare of the truth at last.

    He has failed, he has failed; he has missed his chance;
        He has just done things by half.
    Life’s been a jolly good joke on him,
        And now is the time to laugh.
    Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
        He was never meant to win;
    He’s a rolling stone, and it’s bred in the bone;
        He’s a man who won’t fit in.

  25. I have yet to get my 3rd “Nancy Check” .  The first two came like the “tooth fairy”.
    The IRS site sheds little light.

  26. Yup, enjoy yourself.  i got dogs to wash and people to feed, then dogs to feed and people to wash✌️

  27. Good News !
    All the old cartoons from my childhood  are in rotation again @ 6 AM.
    We’re talkin’ hardcore Elmer Fudd  with a shotgun.
    It’s like seeing Ruta Lee for the first time om “Maverick”.

  28. Blink -I got “little sister & her brood”.
    I once co-owned a tornado dog .
    Dick the Dog From The Great Lubbock Tornado
    I always wanted to write my story.  I thought this would sell books.

  29. This past Wed.  PBS   ran the entire  3 hour block on the state of the Earth.
    I forced myself to watch , I knew what was coming.
    A loving ranger caring for the last 2 Northern White Rhinos , a mother and a daughter.
    The End

      This why I watch for Ruta Lee and Bugs Bunny, at  5 AM.

  30. Robert Service is always good for a rousing chorus or ten.  This one has a pornographic version that I won’t repeat here.  It was actually based on a true story.

    The character of Dan McGrew was based on William Nelson McGrew (1883-1960), who was born and raised in Guinda, California to Isaac and Nellie Ophelia (Thomas) McGrew and whose nickname was “Dangerous Dan”. William McGrew had gone to the Yukon seeking his fortune during the Yukon Gold Rush. William McGrew and Robert Service were mutually antagonistic toward each other, and after one argument Robert Service is reputed to have said: “McGrew, some day I’ll kill you.” Service achieved his goal by killing Dan McGrew in this poem.

    This gives them this –
    A 28 Day Month
    OR
    A 35 Day  Month

    Think about that marble .

  32. I first heard these guys in Midland at my uncle’s house , his 2 girls owned the 45.  We were on our way to Charlesbad , to see the hole.
    It was the of Summer 62 , I came back a surfer, after seeing a bat cave New Mexico .

  33. These guys made modern American motor sports.  And extreme sports ;
    Their music, and gasoline  fueled our entire culture.

  34. Why do men love this stuff ?
    Engines  coming to life .
    I had several Chrysler 360’s  with turbo chargers , and short stacks .
    I loved  those drills

  35. I loved landing drills , then  I made my money.
    I was so good, I got  a 5 cent a ft. bonus , I gave my helper  2 cents .
    “We Slammed  Steel”.

    I was 29 , I knew it was my peak in one sense.
    Try this out  folks , crank your drill  at 10,800 ft. , crossing High Uintas .
    Nothing like it , the smell of Jet-A at 7 AM.

    The pilot flips a few switches , and the beast wakes-up , slowly at first . it takes a lot of  force to move the rotors.
    Nothing in the world like watching a Lama wake up .

  36. OM,
    Speed, loud noise, hmmm, I wonder.

    1st saw John Hiatt in a club in the Flats in Cleveland around 1995 or ‘96. Definitely a distinctive performer. Had never heard Ridin’ with the King before and Elvis was the obvious choice as the King.  Then in 2000 I heard the Clapton/BB version and WHAM- gobsmacked. Yeah, I know John was referring to Elvis, but really, ya hear BB’s & Clapton’s rendition and who does it fit better? I LOVE that song

  37. A Really Big Question ……………..
    “Extra Virgin Olive Oil”
    Is there a “Slightly Slutty Olive Oil” ?

    Don’t forget to tip the help , and I’ll  be here all next week .
    With balloon animals , and the wisdom of the ages.

  38. POGO –
    Every version of  ………..  it is perfect .  I’ll find Sunny Landreth with John.

    It’ll bust yer buttons.
