I worry there are many Trump voters afraid to admit it to friends, neighbors, family and pollsters. Can’t figure out how Biden camp can measure and manage that. It’s a black hole.
The undecided numbers in these big Biden polls worry me. Think it best to assume they’re secret Trump voters and proceed accordingly.
My hunch is somehow friends, family of Trump leaners need to begin a difficult discussion with them. An intervention to save our nation.
kudos to the editorial board of Daily News for their new project today, the 99th day:
99 reasons to dump Trump: Taking the measure of the man and his record before Election Day
One thought is that the forty percent approval turns into forty percent voting for SFB. That is about ten over the thirty percent of the voters who are republican. That would be indies who are racist joining the greedy old perverts. The Dems have their thirty percent wrapped up, if they bother to vote. Then add ten percent of the indies who are mostly Dem voters but will go r if they do not care for the Dem in the election. So once again we are looking at needing eleven percent of the indies to join in and vote Dem. The problem is peeling off enough r’s in the middle and south to get a couple of states electoral college votes.
Once Biden is elected it is time to offer up a new Amendment to the Constitution to eliminate the electoral college.
Woo hoo
Yes
And those in the secret society are very much aware of this huge and meaningful secret vote!
As the media bias continues to be so severe the secret vote becomes stronger and much larger!
Donald j Trump will win in 2020 and he is just now starting his pivot to really begin campaigning.
And after the third debate Mr Biden will be exposed!
God bless you all and hope you have a good day
Mr. Biden will be exposed? Oooh, secret campaign plans. How clever. Let me go get a copy of NY Daily News to see what’s coming. And tRump’s failings are here in clear focus.
A friend recently asked me why I used the term “thought police” (TP) on FB. It took me a long time to answer. Without going through a lot of detail about the media and front page rioters, all I can say is that the TP is a real thing that prevents many people from speaking their mind. Craig is correct about the right being afraid to voice their opinion because of what I will call some people’s hysterical response. I know the right has set up armed camps on federal property (in the middle of nowhere), a few have run over people, some waive guns around, and the like, etc. But they demonstrate without rioting, stealing, and assaulting some people and the police. In other words, the right remains (mostly) peaceful and quiet, and to repeat Craig, they keep their opinions to themselves. The politically positioned Dems are killing the party with lunatic decisions (police defunding), permitting riots, and willy-nilly giving in to the less than one percent of the population that drives the TP. I have been a registered Dem for about 40 years and am beginning to wonder why. Biden ain’t on the top of the ticket, the TP and his VP will be running things. And, I predict Biden will never-ever get involved in a debate with POTUS. What the devil was the party thinking when they decided he goes on the top of the ticket? Someone please tell me.
Well, you see, Pilar, they had these things called “primary elections”, and a majority of voters voted for Biden. So, that’s how he got to the “top of the ticket”.
yep, it’s beginning to look a lot like 1968 all over again. when will we ever learn?
Only idiots and assholes would vote for Trump after these last disastrous four years.
Oh no, did i alienate some independents? Go ahead and vote to spite people on the internet- it’s your funeral!
Have you tried talking to Trump voters, Craig? They’re all terribly under/misinformed, immediately start whining about how they can’t speak sincerely (i.e. say racist shit), and then conclude how they only want the best for everybody and are tired of discussing politics.
It’s the same discussion, every time, with every one of them. None so blind.
Ok, bye.
Bink – I know one restaurant owner who thinks SFB is a good leader, flawed because he lets himself be limited by his aides. He is very unhappy about any limits to having people visit his eatery and does not believe there is a COVID-19. His only concentration is on making money whether or not his customers die. Every time I talk to him I come away with what must appear to be a stunned look with jaw dropped and eyes staring into the darkness of life. But, he is one porthole into the hell that must be the alternative universe.
Ping you think it will take 3 debates to reveal Joe, while Lardius’ failures are in plain sight.
But he’s working on his slice, oh, and having federal LE folks gas American citizens protesting for BLM (First Amendment, anyone?) – with agents that can’t be used in war.
“It’s the same discussion, every time, with every one of them. None so blind.”
Bink
Spot on as usual. I have so many Republican clients. Some will tell me he’s an asshole and many other things but most with the exception of 3 are voting for him again. Still i have hope as 3 i do know aren’t voting for him again. All because of his incompetence on Covid. Oh, but how they all overlook all his crimes I’ll never get it.
I stirred the pot just a bit, and as I wrote, the TP came out with attack comments. Blue Bronc had it, “…its about the economy….” (that from President Clinton). Give people a paycheck and they could give a “rat’s butt” about who is in the White House. There is nothing more I would like to see than another JFK, but no, all I see in my party are a bunch of hysterical nuts. Exactly how much lower to the bottom of the barrel can my party go? Prop him on up TP’s, you’re trying to make chicken salad out of chicken s…, and it ain’t gonna work.
Pilar…..if you are beginning to wonder why you are a democrat it simply makes you, for all practical purposes, a republican. Good luck with that.
As for “thought police” the closest evidence of that is if your thoughts should differ from the president’s you get fired.
I do wonder how long the right would have stayed “peaceful” if the Bundy’s had been attacked by police for their armed occupation of a federal building. They were instead arrested —alive— and acquitted, after having received “care packages” of food and necessities.
bloomberg:
Pilar has a point.
Also let me add
The Democrats have a problem as these protest go on far too long. We are in the “revolution for the hell of it” phase. Now they are just protesting to be protesting and falling into the Republican trap. The choice more and more is forming around a choice between Trump and anarchy. If the Democrats allow that to be the choice then they lose. Right now it looks as if the Democrats are doing their best to screw up. It is hard to believe but that is what I’m seeing.
Jack
That’s valid as a “scenario construct“, but I think it will not hold true now because I feel that the great majority of our people now see this Law and Order cry for what it is; blatant attempt to pander to their solid base and keep them on board amidst the virus and economic upheavals while working feverishly to firmly grasp all the levers of power; while allowing the Russians to run amok with our institutions.
The people, against their desires, are more aware now than they were for Nixon and Reagan. They know what swastikas are and who are brandishing them and their confederate flags. They know. And they rationally fear that much more than the manufactured and constructed narrative of Socialist Anarchy on Desolation Row.
You can fool all of the people some of the time; and you can fool some of the people all of the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
Still holds true.
There is “stirring the pot” and then there is “throwing up flak”. lol
Now, I’ll join Bink at a picnic table outside the tavern with a mug of ale all around.
One mug—for EVERYBODY !
—Richard Pryor
That’s just my opinion, on the other side of the fence from Pilar’s and Jack’s thoughtful comments. We’ll see how it shakes out, but there are way more than just democrats on this particular ride.
oh yeah… because we all know that all of those agitators are from the left. I mean…. like…. people from the right wouldn’t be causing any of it. we all know the right isn’t into dirty tricks…. no… that’s never been done before.
Craig… every one I know from around here who still loves trump ain’t exactly shy about it…
MLB has a bit of a problem, about half the Phillies are down with COVID-19. OBTW they had to cancel the game and go into quarantine. I wonder how long the season will be. Next up is when will NFL begin its fun time? Hockey has one thing going for it, everyone will wear a faceshield. Okay, that won’t last long either.
edit:
We can add the Marlins to the MLB teams going to the locker room quarantine with COVID-19. Too bad, just when people were ready to get infected again.
Renee
It doesn’t matter who is doing it the Democrats are getting blamed. If these protest last until the fall, Trump wins, The republicans keep the senate. RBG passes away…..
Jack
BTW, There are Trump supporters proudly flying the flag and Craig is right in that there are people who will vote Trump while telling themselves they aren’t like those other people. How many? I don’t know. But they are out there.
Jack
BTW, in our neighborhood the ones who proudly fly the Trump flag, are really really dumb fks. But their vote counts the same as mine.
Jack
BlueBronc… with all the moving around from city to city, methinks MLB probably will get shutdown. But hockey… is going to be played in Canada only. I think that sport has a chance.
Jack… of course all that matters is perception. And the perception of trump as an incompetent moron isn’t going away either.
FWIW polling from 2 weeks ago showed support for the BLM protests and against SFB according to an article in Vanity Fair.
Yes, much has changed since the dispatch of fed agents two weeks ago, e.g. the protests have gotten more violent (at least so they are portrayed in the media), they have been declared riots in Seattle and in Portland, so it’s hard to say what similar polling might say today. Jack you could be right, but still, I don’t think that the turnabout over the last few days is as beneficial to Lardius as some suggest.
I hate to hear about the likely problems with MLB restarting. I really do miss sports – even MLB (not a big baseball fan in general, but it’s one thing that I’d watch from time to time) and the Johnsonville Cornhole series is not my idea of sports.
LOL.
Trump national security adviser Robert O’Brien, member of the coronavirus task force, tests positive for the coronavirus; highest-ranking administration official known to be infected
I’m sure he was a strict adherent to the task force mask/social distancing recommendations.
For the sports addicted and deprived, there is always Cricket on Willow.TV for $10 a month.
Also… NFL Network has been replaying games all summer long. Last night, Rick and I watched the replay of the last Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers (for like the 4th time 🙂
But let’s send the kiddies back to school ASAP. The one Republican here that I can talk politics with used to say that SFB was fine, he just said stupid stuff and needed to shut up. Now, that person is just so tired of politics and social unrest. Yep, they’ll prolly vote for him.
Let us hope the Lincoln Project does that peeling off of repeat, SFB voters.
I still think things will be bad enough (and they will realize tRUMP is to blame), and, they will stay home.
sturge, yes, as you say there’s “stirring the pot” and “throwing up flak” but there’s also sh*tting in and f*cking up same.
other phrases that come to mind: jumping the shark and methinks thou dost protest too much
beware the syndrome of sixty-eight
LP’s latest
here’s what they said about it
July 27th, 2020 – The Lincoln Project released a new video today, “Conservative,” the second to feature former Navy SEAL Dan Barkhuff calling for conservatives to vote for Joe Biden.
Barkhuff, first featured in The Lincoln Project’s “Betrayed,” returns to remind Republicans that Biden will conserve the cornerstones of our nation — the rule of law, the American Dream, and the tenets laid out in our Constitution.
“President Trump is lost. He’s lashing out, and has resorted to displays of force in American cities to fire up his base,” said Reed Galen, co-founder of The Lincoln Project. He continued, “While Donald Trump thinks federal thugs harassing peaceful American citizens makes him look strong, all we see is weakness.”
All Americans must be vigilant in protecting the rights that Donald Trump seeks to destroy. He knows his days are numbered and, as we approach November 3rd, his attacks will become even more aggressive.
wapo:
I loved this from a poster at Wapo called Jdwkley:
Man, if that doesn’t sum it up, nothing does.
Oh, I watch some sports reruns – SEC network has reruns of college football games w/ SEC teams as well as other sports, and there’re similar channels for other conferences and NBA (bubble scrimmages) and NFL, but It’s really not like watching a game in real time, It’s just not. There’s some live Tennis and Golf, but…still.
And in the Fucking Idiots category… Trumpists with Swastika masks at MN Walmart.
Pat, I can dig it.
No one, as yet, has any control over the protests. It’s not like a certain leader can say “ok let’s stop with the protesting now”.Most can see the protests as having potentially deleterious effects , but those things bubble and boil with a life of their own, and most can see that the Secret Police are exacerbating, escalating, inflaming, adding fuel to the fire, perpetuating ad infinootus
They whispered in my ear, “You’re jumping the shark.” I turned to look at them and said, “The shark jumped me—a long time ago.”
Sturge, Ain’t no Abbie Hoffmans or Jerry Rubins associated with this stuff, although it’s being portrayed as if this is the equivalent of the 1968 DNC convention protests. No MC5 either.
Racism:
Hey old man, Householder sounds like he’s in a heap of trouble. Good. I can’t stand First Energy (our electric company) or Ohio Republicans (the idiots who ran Mrs. P’s Mom’s former state) and this just makes me think I’m right.
National Security what? Never heard of him, must be coffee boy.
From Ben Guarino in the Wapo continuing coverage of the protests:
Whatever happened to that gotta be invited thing ShitakeBrains talked about last week?
Sturge, Renee
I’m with you all the way! Oh and this crying about the state of the Democratic Party 99 days from the most important election ever is not helpful.
I’m happy with the state of my party. Not going there as it helps Trump and those criminal Republicans.
Bitching about Biden being at the top of the ticket is nonsense. He wasn’t my choice but he is now. I’m all in.
OM(CB) I imagine you are right. Householder shouldn’t have oughta paid for improvements to his Florida home with campaign funds. Something about that sounds illegal. Be interested to see him attack the deep state FBI and go all Friend of Coal in Ohio since he appears to be a schosh behind Biden there in current polls. Oh, and lest I forget, Kudos to Cleveland.com for punning on him – saying that until he rose to the Leader of the Ohio House in 2019 he wasn’t really a household name. Nyuck, nyuck.
https://www.texastribune.org/2020/07/27/texas-greg-abbott-early-voting-november/
Well, we won’t have mail-in ballots, but Gov. Abbott has extended early voting by six days. Texans can now vote against Orange Julius starting October 13th!
If, IF, they can find enough folks to staff all of the polling places, it should allow for shorter lines. Some counties couldn’t open all of the polling places for the July run-off, due to staffing issues. That could cause confusion if one’s normal site isn’t open, and, it could be an obstacle to those without transportation who would need to go somewhere outside of their neighborhood.
POGO
Thanks for that Vanity Fair piece. I don’t see Trump turning this around regardless of how many protests there are. He can’t turn COVID around or the economy. Trump has the FED juiced stock market and how much of the voting population has a stake there? Trump deserves a massive defeat. Fingers crossed!
From the entertainment world, Tom Hanks becomes Greek citizen. Wondering if he has renounced American citizenship – yet?
For the first time in Florida, I received a letter to receive my ballot by mail. Easy self-addressed return envelope. I guess because of COVID. I can’t believe these wack Republican’s that run this state allowed it.
Bidens pay respect to Lewis as Trump refuses to go, too busy ordering thugs to beat up his protester descendants.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/27/politics/presidential-debate-notre-dame-coronavirus/index.html
Why wouldn’t it just be a zoom debate, anyway? Mute the mics when it’s someone else’s turn to talk. Seems like a better way to do it. Why go to Cleveland? Is Covid not a thing there?
Hello Cleveland!!
Craig – I saw the photo spread just now and am very happy that the Bidens did come by. The optics are so heavy and strong. I am very sure that Biden remembered his work and contacts with Rep. Lewis while saying good-bye.

Dual Citizenship with Greece is allowed subject to change in laws. Currently these are the countries that allow dual citizenship
https://nnuimmigration.com/dual-citizenship-usa/
It seems to me that Dems can be helped by the memory of FDR right now, given heartless (wealthy) Republicans who are intent on seeing that unemployed Americans are homeless and hungry. They want to back the federal stipend from $600 to $200/week. And, they only want to do that much because it’s too complicated to administer a weekly stipend of 70% of income. Heaven forbid that someone get $10 too much. I’d like to see them try to live on 70% of minimum wage plus whatever their state pays to someone earning minimum wage. In Texas, the low end of the state payments is $69/week.
The greediness and stinginess of Republicans might also help win over white, rural voters. Nobody talks about poor, white folks. Dems might want to reach out to that group.
Hello Craig!
I hope all is well with you. Sadly I was hoping to have a nice discussion but this site has such angry people that cannot have an argument. To the old timers I wish you well but good bye again for now.
Craig, I know you cannot control the limited thoughts that some project, or can you?
Craig, there are people in Texas I’ve known for 19 years who are just now saying they hate Trump. Everything’s a Jim Crow secret here and no one says much of anything political. So I wouldn’t be surprised about the reverse of what you said in your initial post.
bid -I look at the greedy old pervert party as two levels. The top level, which gets the money, are the holier than thou types, multiple mistresses to take care of, multiple homes, and a great desire to die with more money then any one else. The others who are republican are white racists and misogynists, including the group called evangelical.
Oh, Hi, Ping…..sorry I ignored your post, I guess I’ll catch you next time😊
Poobah, check the queue.
Sturg, 🙄.
Ping has become the blog equivalent of a photobomber. Drop in, take a verbal crap then run the fuck away. Don’ sweat it.
michael steele had some good advice for especially the BLM and other local justice protesters to take the wind out of the stormtrumpers photos.
he suggested they keep on protesting but just avoid being anywhere near a federal building (guess that would also include fed monuments & post offices). the stormtrumpers supposedly are being sent out by the Rump to protect fed property so if fed property isn’t in jeopardy with no one in range there goes his campaign ad, but the protesters still get to protest their hearts out every where else in the city and make news without letting him use them.
The Department of the HellScape arrested peaceful moms who were protecting protestors. Defund the DHS. tRUMP’s goons are attacking American mothers. The just want to whip up fear in the base; they don’t care if it’s unconstitutional. Anything for campaign footage.
Love that one…..”Now, spit.”
This says it all.

So, it’s not a hiatus violation to post the best album i’ve ever heard (listen in entirety, or not at all, plz, all instrumental).
(moon music)
Dig that album, Bob.
(i bought it in Glenwood Springs at a head-shop, 20 years, ago)
I live in the 64126 zip code, Yea, we’re all the way down to number three. But if we worked at it…..
I’ve bought 200 masks and am bundling them up in ziploc bags 5 to a bag. I have them in my pickup and when I see someone who might need a mask I give them a bag. Just started today 5 so far.
Jack
There is no secret SFB vote. Just like the Brady vote failure is also a myth.
People don’t like him. There is no thought police. People who support Fat Ass the Golfing president are loud and proud of being fools. They don’t hide it.
Not all is bad I took a picture of these two fawns in the neighborhood. Still have their spots mama was over at the edge of the woods. They stood for a long time posing as I fumbled with my phone. I need to put my good camera in the pickup, my phone takes bad pictures.
What is not in the picture is the pile of trash someone dumped last weekend,
A better plan for the demonstrators is to disguise themselves as trumpers for the cameras.
A better plan is for mayors and governors to start talking about the “Homeland Security riots.”
X-R, and an addendum to that last plan is for the media to refer to it as “trump’s insecurity riots”
