Is There A Secret Trump Vote?

I worry there are many Trump voters afraid to admit it to friends, neighbors, family and pollsters. Can’t figure out how Biden camp can measure and manage that. It’s a black hole.

The undecided numbers in these big Biden polls worry me. Think it best to assume they’re secret Trump voters and proceed accordingly.

My hunch is somehow friends, family of Trump leaners need to begin a difficult discussion with them. An intervention to save our nation.

One thought is that the forty percent approval turns into forty percent voting for SFB.  That is about ten over the thirty percent of the voters who are republican.  That would be indies who are racist joining the greedy old perverts.  The Dems have their thirty percent wrapped up, if they bother to vote.  Then add ten percent of the indies who are mostly Dem voters but will go r if they do not care for the Dem in the election.  So once again we are looking at needing eleven percent of the indies to join in and vote Dem.  The problem is peeling off enough r’s in the middle and south to get a couple of states electoral college votes. 
     
    Once Biden is elected it is time to offer up a new Amendment to the Constitution to eliminate the electoral college.

A friend recently asked me why I used the term “thought police” (TP) on FB.  It took me a long time to answer.  Without going through a lot of detail about the media and front page rioters, all I can say is that the TP is a real thing that prevents many people from speaking their mind.  Craig is correct about the right being afraid to voice their opinion because of what I will call some people’s hysterical response.  I know the right has set up armed camps on federal property (in the middle of nowhere), a few have run over people, some waive guns around, and the like, etc.   But they demonstrate without rioting, stealing, and assaulting some people and the police.  In other words, the right remains (mostly) peaceful and quiet, and to repeat Craig, they keep their opinions to themselves.  The politically positioned Dems are killing the party with lunatic decisions (police defunding), permitting riots,  and willy-nilly giving in to the less than one percent of the population that drives the TP.  I have been a registered Dem for about 40 years and am beginning to wonder why.  Biden ain’t on the top of the ticket, the TP and his VP will be running things.  And, I predict Biden will never-ever get involved in a debate with POTUS.  What the devil was the party thinking when they decided he goes on the top of the ticket?  Someone please tell me.

  11.  Bink – I know one restaurant owner who thinks SFB is a good leader, flawed because he lets himself be limited by his aides.  He is very unhappy about any limits to having people visit his eatery and does not believe there is a COVID-19.  His only concentration is on making money whether or not his customers die.  Every time I talk to him I come away with what must appear to be a stunned look with jaw dropped and eyes staring into the darkness of life.  But, he is one porthole into the hell that must be the alternative universe.

    Spot on as usual. I have so many Republican clients. Some will tell me he’s an asshole and many other things but most with the exception of 3 are voting for him again. Still i have hope as 3 i do know aren’t voting for him again. All because of his incompetence on Covid. Oh, but how they all overlook all his crimes I’ll never get it.

I stirred the pot just a bit, and as I wrote, the TP came out with attack comments.  Blue Bronc had it, “…its about the economy….” (that from President Clinton).   Give people a paycheck and they could give a “rat’s butt” about who is in the White House.  There is nothing more I would like to see than another JFK, but no, all I see in my party are a bunch of hysterical nuts.  Exactly how much lower to the bottom of the barrel can my party go?  Prop him on up TP’s, you’re trying to make chicken salad out of chicken s…, and it ain’t gonna work.

    The Democrats have a problem as these  protest go on far too long. We are in the “revolution for the hell of it” phase. Now they are just protesting to be protesting and falling into the Republican trap. The choice more and more is forming around a choice between Trump and anarchy. If the Democrats allow that to be the choice then they lose. Right now it looks as if the Democrats are doing their best to screw up. It is hard to believe but that is what I’m seeing.

That’s valid as a “scenario construct“, but I think it will not hold true now because I feel that the great majority of our people now see this Law and Order cry for what it is; blatant attempt to pander to their solid base and keep them on board amidst the virus and economic upheavals while working feverishly to firmly grasp all the levers of power; while allowing the Russians to run amok with our institutions.
    The people, against their desires, are more aware now than they were for Nixon and Reagan.  They know what swastikas are and who are brandishing them and their confederate flags. They know.   And they rationally fear that much more than the manufactured and constructed narrative of Socialist Anarchy on Desolation Row.

MLB has a bit of a problem, about half the Phillies are down with COVID-19.  OBTW they had to cancel the game and go into quarantine.  I wonder how long the season will be.  Next up is when will NFL begin its fun time?  Hockey has one thing going for it, everyone will wear a faceshield.  Okay, that won’t last long either.

    If Donald Trump loses in the fall, the first week of June might have marked the beginning of the end. On June 1, with the country consumed by historic protests against racism and police brutality, some of them violent, Trump decided to position himself as the “law-and-order” president, made clear by his tweets and his now infamous march that evening across Lafayette Square, outside the White House. His path cleared by the National Guard and D.C. police who used chemical agents on lawfully assembled protesters and roughed up journalists, Trump walked across the street to stand in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church for an inscrutable and buffoonish photo op, in which he held up a Bible and said nothing much at all about the cities on fire and the country’s dismal legacy of racism. “We have a great country,” Trump said. “That’s my thoughts.” The moment was an emblem of Trump’s presidency: attention-seeking, bereft of empathy, gut over strategy. It was so embarrassing and borderline anti-American that one of his generals, Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Mark Milley, apologized for participating in the walk and reportedly considered resigning. Like so many of Trump’s decisions, it was a sugar-high tactic designed to please his base and get TV ratings, with almost no thought about the larger sweep of American history, let alone his reelection campaign.

    Politically, it was a disaster. In the days that followed, Trump’s approval ratings tumbled to their lowest point in over a year, and their lowest point of the coronavirus pandemic, according to FiveThirtyEight’s poll tracker. The first two weeks of June also saw Trump fall even further behind his Democratic rival, Joe Biden. Before June, Biden steadily held a four-to-six-point lead over Trump in national polls, fueled in part by massive support among the independent voters whom Trump won in 2016. Shortly after Lafayette Square, though, Biden began to open up an even bigger lead, a nine-point average lead over the president, with a Washington Post–ABC News poll this week showing Biden winning by as many as 15 points.

    Trump’s reaction to the protests was not the only reason for his summer collapse. Most pollsters say that Trump’s continuing inability to respond to the coronavirus pandemic, and the economic havoc that’s come with it, has been the dominant factor. In fact, new polling and research provided toVanity Fairsuggests that the protests themselves changed America’s opinions about race so quickly, and so profoundly, that Trump unknowingly planted himself even further on the wrong side of public opinion than previously understood.

The hardcore Vote Trump respondents were against the protests, with 56% opposing them. But among the softer Lean Trump set, an eye-opening 59% said the protesters were “completely right” or “somewhat right”—probably not what the president had in mind when he commandeered Lafayette Square. And 72% of Americans with Mixed Feelings about the presidential race—precious undecided voters—said the protesters were right too. “There’s not a lot of issues where you get even a strong majority of Americans on the same page,” said Michiah Prull,the CEO of Avalanche. “It speaks to that historic moment, and it speaks to a degree of national alignment on something that’s honestly pretty rare these days.”

    Yes, much has changed since the dispatch of fed agents two weeks ago, e.g. the protests have gotten more violent (at least so they are portrayed in the media), they have been declared riots in Seattle and in Portland, so it’s hard to say what similar polling might say today.  Jack you could be right, but still, I don’t think that the turnabout over the last few days is as beneficial to Lardius as some suggest.

National Guard, also casts doubt on the claims by acting Park Police Chief Gregory Monahan that violence by protesters spurred Park Police to clear the area at that time with unusually aggressive tactics. DeMarco said that “demonstrators were behaving peacefully” and that tear gas was deployed in an “excessive use of force.”
    DeMarco backs up law enforcement officials who told The Washington Post they believed the clearing operation would happen after the 7 p.m. curfew that night — but it was dramatically accelerated after Attorney General William P. Barr and others appeared in the park around 6 p.m. Monahan has said the operation was conducted so that a fence might be erected around the park. DeMarco said the fencing materials did not arrive until 9 p.m. — hours after Barr told the Park Police to expand the perimeter — and the fence wasn’t built until later that night.
    DeMarco’s account of events also reveals for the first time the details of the visit that Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made to Lafayette Square just before the move on protesters — and the warning he gave his troops.

No one, as yet, has any control over the protests.  It’s not like a certain leader can say “ok let’s stop with the protesting now”.Most can see the protests as having potentially deleterious effects , but those things bubble and boil with a life of their own, and most can see that the Secret Police are exacerbating, escalating, inflaming, adding fuel to the fire, perpetuating ad infinootus

    In a letter addressed to congressional leaders Monday, the Democratic mayors of six cities — Albuquerque, Chicago, Kansas City, Mo., Portland, Ore., Seattle and Washington, D.C. — urged legislators to pass a law to establish that the recent deployment of federal troops to cities is “unlawful and repugnant.”

    The letter criticized the Trump administration for sending federal agents to cities such as Portland that have been the site of widespread demonstrations against police brutality. Those troops have patrolled streets “way outside of their lawful jurisdiction,” said the letter, which Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) posted to Twitter on Monday afternoon.

    “We are outraged that the administration has responded to these First Amendment-protected gatherings by authorizing the deployment of riot-gear clad forces … without the consent of local authorities,” the letter read.

    The mayors requested that congressional action require federal agents, excepting those in field offices working on current cases, to obtain consent from local authorities; visibly identify themselves and their vehicles unless undercover; and limit “crowd control” actions to protecting federal property.

    The letter was sent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.).

Oh, and lest I forget, Kudos to Cleveland.com for punning on him – saying that until he rose to the Leader of the Ohio House in 2019 he wasn’t really a household name. Nyuck, nyuck.

    Well, we won’t have mail-in ballots, but Gov. Abbott has extended early voting by six days.   Texans can now vote against Orange Julius starting October 13th!    
    If, IF, they can find enough folks to staff all of the polling places, it should allow for shorter lines.   Some counties couldn’t open all of the polling places for the July run-off, due to staffing issues.  That could cause confusion if one’s normal site isn’t open, and, it could be an obstacle to those without transportation who would need to go somewhere outside of their neighborhood.

  57. For the first time in Florida, I received a letter to receive my ballot by mail. Easy self-addressed return envelope. I guess because of COVID. I can’t believe these wack Republican’s that run this state allowed it. 

  62.  Craig – I saw the photo spread just now and am very happy that the Bidens did come by.  The optics are so heavy and strong.  I am very sure that Biden remembered his work and contacts with Rep. Lewis while saying good-bye.

It seems to me that Dems can be helped by the memory of FDR right now, given heartless (wealthy) Republicans who are intent on seeing that unemployed Americans are homeless and hungry.   They want to back the federal stipend from $600 to $200/week.   And, they only want to do that much because it’s too complicated to administer a weekly stipend of 70% of income.  Heaven forbid that someone get $10 too much.   I’d like to see them try to live on 70% of minimum wage plus whatever their state pays to someone earning minimum wage. In Texas, the low end of the state payments is $69/week.  
    The greediness and stinginess of Republicans might also help win over white, rural voters.   Nobody talks about poor, white folks.   Dems might want to reach out to that group.

  68. Craig, there are people in Texas I’ve known for 19 years who are just now saying they hate Trump. Everything’s a Jim Crow secret here and no one says much of anything political.  So I wouldn’t be surprised about the reverse of what you said in your initial post.

    he suggested they keep on protesting but just avoid being anywhere near a federal building (guess that would also include fed monuments & post offices).  the stormtrumpers supposedly are being sent out by the Rump to protect fed property so if fed property isn’t in jeopardy with no one in range there goes his campaign ad, but the protesters still get to protest their hearts out every where else in the city and make news without letting him use them.

  76. The Department of the HellScape arrested peaceful moms who were protecting protestors.   Defund the DHS.  tRUMP’s goons are attacking American mothers.  The just want to whip up fear in the base; they don’t care if it’s unconstitutional.  Anything for campaign footage.

  82. I’ve bought 200 masks and am bundling them up in ziploc bags 5 to a bag. I have them in my pickup and when I see someone who might need a mask I give them a bag. Just started today 5 so far.

  84. Not all is bad I took a picture of these two fawns in the neighborhood. Still have their spots mama was over at the edge of the woods. They stood for a long time posing as I fumbled with my phone. I need to put my good camera in the pickup, my phone takes bad pictures. 
    What is not in the picture is the pile of trash someone dumped last weekend,
