A chaotic scene of sickness and filth is unfolding in an overcrowded border station in Clint, Tex., where hundreds of young people who have recently crossed the border are being held, according to lawyers who visited the facility this week. Some of the children have been there for nearly a month.

Children as young as 7 and 8, many of them wearing clothes caked with snot and tears, are caring for infants they’ve just met, the lawyers said. Toddlers without diapers are relieving themselves in their pants. Teenage mothers are wearing clothes stained with breast milk.
Most of the young detainees have not been able to shower or wash their clothes since they arrived at the facility, those who visited said. They have no access to toothbrushes, toothpaste or soap.
How does a person get up every morning and go to work in this facility? It is beyond my ability to even understand. How do they justify this to themselves? How do they explain their participation in this atrocity. Just to their wife, their children?
Enough sympathy.
What I want to know. Who are these criminals, we need names, we need perp walks, right down to those who went to work everyday with total indifference. This is not a time for political posturing from presidential wannabes. This a time when all Americans should stand up and say put these bastards in jail.
It is time for the press to start naming names from the top to the ones who went in everyday and silently tolerated this abuse. Stand in front of their doors with cameras running, microphones in their faces. Shine the light on them. From the big boss right down the lowliest cockroach. Treat them like the perverts they are.
In less than 10 days it will the 4th of July the anniversary of the founding of this country. A time where a group of men pledged their lives and sacred honor to create some thing better than what they knew back in Europe.

Another immigration story that we are following today – Customs and Border Protection has reportedly moved hundreds of children out of a temporary holding facility in Clint, Texas, after multiple reports on unsanitary conditions there. One of the people who raised the alarm was Elora Mukherjee. She’s director of the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic at Columbia Law School. She visited the center near El Paso last week where more than 300 migrant kids were being held.

SHAPIRO: What’s your take on this move by CBP today?
MUKHERJEE: CBP is trying to move children out of Clint, which is in the spotlight, and to other facilities. We don’t know where those children are being moved. We don’t know if those facilities have the same appalling conditions that we’ve seen in Clint, Texas. Last week in Clint, we saw hundreds of children who reported – we interviewed many children who said that they were hungry. They were obviously dirty. They were sick. They were scared. And they’d been detained by Customs and Border Patrol for weeks on end, some for nearly a month. And the other facilities may have similar problems.
We have learned that some of the children have reportedly been moved to a facility outside of El Paso, where our team also went last week. At that facility, there were also not sufficient access to toothbrushes, to showers, to beds for children to sleep in. So we need to investigate where the children have been moved and what the conditions there are.
SHAPIRO: So your concern is that CBP is responding to complaints about one particular facility rather than complaints about a system that subjects children to these conditions in a variety of facilities. Is that right?

So they moved them to another squalid hell hole. On this one Trump is a side issue. This is the border patrol, this is a systemic culture that believe the people they encounter everyday are subhuman. as the article I posted makes clear, it is not about funding. If it was a problem with funding they would have taken the donations. If it was a problem with just management, someone in that facility would have ignored the memo and brought the stuff in the back door. It is not like these are the greatest jobs in the world.

Changes to the $4.5 billion bill, he said, could be made before the vote to secure the necessary support from Democrats. “I think this bill will pass,” Lujan said.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) called the meeting after news of poor conditions at U.S. Customs and Border Protection centers and President Trump’s threat of mass deportations cast doubt on whether Congress would be able to pass a border funding package before lawmakers leave Washington on Thursday for a week-long recess.
Rep. Raul Ruiz (D-Calif.) said Pelosi agreed to back changes to the bill detailing what constitutes humane treatment for migrant children in U.S. custody.
“There’s a way to change behavior rather than just funding a dysfunctional system,” he said. “If you give them soap and toothbrushes and yet the administration is arguing that these children do not need toothbrushes and soap, then you’re not going to change behavior. If you don’t mandate ‘allow them to bathe daily,’ then they’re still going to be without bathing for many days.”

But other Democrats have struck a more measured tone, with appropriators proposing nearly $1 billion for facilities, food, water and other humanitarian items and another $886 million for housing children outside shelters.
“We cannot allow our anger at this president to blind us to the horrific conditions at facilities along the border as the agencies run out of money,” House Appropriations Committee Chairman Nita M. Lowey (D-N.Y.) said in prepared remarks to be delivered to the House Rules Committee on Monday.
A senior Democratic aide said Pelosi in the meeting “expressed a desire to review specific proposals from members to further enhance protections for children” in the bill, with an eye toward amending it and passing it Tuesday.
The aide spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the internal discussions.
Exiting the meeting before its conclusion Monday, Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Tex.) said the situation was “truly an emergency” and that lawmakers are running out of time to address it.
The Department of Health and Human Services, which is responsible for caring for unaccompanied children who arrive at the border, said it will exhaust its funding at the end of the month. The worst conditions have been documented at border stations under the control of the Department of Homeland Security, where children have been held while they await HHS placement.

Lawmakers are seeking to move fast on the bill before they head out of town for the weeklong July 4 recess. Meanwhile, the Senate has a competing supplemental border package, with Republicans saying that they also might take up their own bill Tuesday.

The Senate also plans to vote this week on its own version of the supplemental bill, which has garnered bipartisan support, with consideration on the floor as early as Tuesday. But House Democrats say the Senate’s bill doesn’t include those same protections for migrant children.

Neither the House or Senate bill addresses changes to asylum laws that were requested by Trump. The president gave Congress a two-week timeline to “work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems” at the southern border or he’ll resume deportation raids that he called off over the weekend.

Hopefully we can work together and his bits of crazy and my bits of crazy don’t clash too often. But he does need some skill work if he is going to survive in this world. I know a few and maybe I can pass them along. Also maybe I can get a few things finished this summer. I promised him 2 weeks but to be honest I can keep him busy most of the summer.
