Trump Sentencing Today

In a 5-4 ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court REJECTED Donald Trump’s motion to block his criminal sentencing in New York.

Trump was found guilty in May of falsifying business records with the intent to commit a second crime.

The office of Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, argued that Trump falsely recorded reimbursements he made to his former lawyer Michael Cohen for paying $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels, so she would keep quiet about an alleged sexual liaison with the then candidate. Trump marked these repayments to Cohen as “legal expenses” on financial documents.

State prosecutors contended at trial that these falsifications were intended to hide Trump’s violation of New York election law, which forbids promoting any person to office through unlawful means. They said that the unlawful means were the payoff to Daniels, as they cast it as an illegal campaign contribution.

“Hell to the Chief Felon”

Donald Trump, president-elect with a felony conviction, to be sentenced Friday in New York – ABC News

President-elect Trump — who plans to attend the 9:30 a.m. hearing virtually from his Mar-a-Lago estate — is expected to receive the lightest possible sentence allowable under New York law, though the sentencing effectively finalizes his unprecedented status as the first former president to be a convicted criminal.

more of that ABC story — query: will DOTUS be required to respond to judge? will we be able to see his response in real time? Judge Juan Merchan — who has overseen the case since April 2023 — suggested in a court filing last week that he plans to sentence Trump to an unconditional discharge, a rarely used option that allows the judge to finalize the judgment in the case without handing down punishment. If his sentence is unconditionally discharged, Trump would receive no jail time, financial penalty, or probationary period.Though Merchan could have sentenced Trump up to four… Read more »

Interior of the Will Rogers home that burned. I always loved the swinging couches that hung from the ceiling. As you went up the stairs, all of the doors led to family and guest bedrooms.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF MESSAGING BILL — Rep. SARAH McBRIDE (D-Del.) today will become the first freshman Democrat to introduce a bill in the new Congress. What’s perhaps more notable is that she’s teaming up with a Republican to do it, NOTUS’ Oriana Gonzalez reports.“The new bill, the Ending Scam Credit Repair Act, seeks to crack down on ‘fraudulent practices’ from companies that ‘deceive consumers with high fees and empty promises’ to fix their credit scores, per a press release shared first with NOTUS.“McBride introduced the bill with California Republican Rep. Young Kim. In a statement to NOTUS, McBride said that ‘in a diverse democracy, we… Read more »

Congratulations Mr. Trump to you and your legal team. You have masterfully delayed proceedings in this and every other court I’m aware of and you have avoided punishment for your crimes. While I cannot sentence you to jail time or restrict you through probation requirements I also cannot disrespect the jury of your peers who found you guilty and allow you to escape all responsibility for your crimes. That said you may now ad FELON to your resume.

Ha! That’s what I said he was thinking about during President Carter’s service ( in addition to whether his lunch order would be with or without cheese). Rest assured, it will be a gaudy mess. Folks will have parties with drinking games. Do a shot every time Eric says my father.” Fifth Ave closed for a public ceremony & then the casket rides up the escalator of tRUMP Tower.

Dumbass is going to say he was exonerated since there’s no prison time or fine.
