https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/01/us/cybertruck-fire-trump-hotel-las-vegas/index.html
“The fact that this was a Cybertruck really limited the damage that occurred inside of the valet, because it had most of the blast go up through the truck and out,” McMahill said. He noted that the glass front doors to the hotel were not broken during the explosion.”

*Cubertruck ad suggestion: It’s ugly as sin, you can’t drive it in the rain because it will rust, but if you need a civilian tank…

I was expecting a confirmation of my guess from yesterday, that it was a MAGAt who was pissed at Elon and his HB1 visas and tax breaks, so he thought he’d send a message to Don-Old to remind him of his base. Don-Old doesn’t care. Show the crypto-grifter the money. Why isn’t the media talking about the tRUMPsky crypto scheme?

In a late night online rant our dictator-curious president-elect says the answer to the tragic events in New Orleans and Las Vegas is “The CIA must get involved, NOW, before it is too late. The USA is breaking down”.

This from the asshat who was “president” for 4 years, and still doesn’t know that the FBI has primary responsibility for domestic investigation and intelligence and CIA has primary responsibility for foreign intelligence. Flying an Isis flag does not convert an act of domestic terrorism that results in a crime on US soil to a matter of foreign intelligence. We are screwed.

From WaPo:

President-elect Donald Trump, in a social media post Thursday morning, appeared to baselessly blame the Biden administration’s border policies for the New Orleans attack.

The FBI is investigating the New Year’s Day attack as an act of terrorism. It has identified the attacker as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, an Army veteran from Texas, who is a U.S.-born citizen.

“With the Biden ‘Open Border’s Policy’ I said, many times during Rallies, and elsewhere, that Radical Islamic Terrorism, and other forms of violent crime, will become so bad in America that it will become hard to even imagine or believe,” Trump wrote. “That time has come, only worse than ever imagined.”

Wasn’t it Forrest Gump who said “stupid is as stupid does, sir”? Well…

Pogo, my concern is he knows CIA is not supposed to get into domestic stuff but wants to change that, just like with the military.

The Las Vegas truck blowup, well, these EVs explode frequently, like the Ford Lightning F150 EV that simply blew up as it awaited a traffic signal last week.  In Santa Monica last year, a warehouse erupted in flames as an EV bicycle blew up on the showroom floor and burnt down a giant building housing hundreds of electric bicycles. YouTubes show Chinese bikes exploding just cruising along. Yes, I was sidetracked, as this was simply a mistake by the alleged terrorist(s). They should have used a rental truck like McVeigh/OK City, with thin back walls so the explosives would have done a lot more than shatter the Trump glass entryway. I mean, their M.O. was compromised by stupidity, not that I root for damn terrorism.
In 4 days , President Mollusk and First Gentleman Donald will be certified.  I feel sick. In 18 days, Mollusk and First Gentleman Trump will be inaugurated.  Then I, compelled to watch on the tube, will be angry, sick, and ready for the surely-to-come-dark days, years, even. I take it one day at a time for my sanity. But I won’t shut up.

Oh boy are we seeing a lot of stuff on the intertubes right now.  First is there might be something between the NO and Vegas events.  The two drivers were in the Army together and stationed together.  This is going to be interesting.
In “I went there so you don’t have to” (deep RWNJ territories):  1) Biden policies somehow made those two become (pick your choice) Den/magat/traitor/?.  2) There are mumblings that sfb is going to declare martial law from the swearing in.  3) There are more attacks planned up to the inauguration to start the war.  4) there is so much stench from the bottom of the outhouse the crazy would make anyone nuts if they read it everyday.  5) For some reason I am no longer banned from some of the sites, or maybe a new account on different systems helps too.

Happy World Introvert Day to all those who celebrate

Introverts worldwide get to celebrate World Introvert Day on January 2, the day after the dreaded festivities of the past year ends, when they can finally get some peace and quiet to recharge their social batteries. World Introvert Day is recognized as a day to understand the many introverts around the world better — the one holiday best celebrated, not by throwing a party, but by canceling one. It is the perfect day to celebrate introverts by leaving them alone and giving them the space they need.

Poobah, your concern is well founded.

Dex, I read in the post this morning that the front doors to the Trump building in LV didn’t get shattered.  Remember that Mollusk touted the strength of the T-truck by shooting a rifle (or was it a pistol?) at the driver’s side glass thinking it would survive the shot and the glass broke.   In the current explosion due to the strength of the doors and side panels the article said the blast was largely directed upwards, and the only casualty was the driver. I did notice that the glass was broken out, but I couldn’t tell whether it was blown out in a piece or shattered.

Interesting this College Playoff thing.  The 3 teams that had byes in the first round that have played in the 2nd have all lost to teams that played and won in the  first round.  Georgia is the only 1st round bye team still standing, and they play ND today to see if they can break the jinx (My money is on GA BTW).

Pogo – the bye week or worse several wrecks momentum and lets the muscles lose tone.  Happens so much, but there is little a coach can do but take the team out on a highway and have them spend a game day dodging cars and trucks.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/02/middleeast/changes-to-syrias-school-curriculum-spark-online-outrage/index.html
“Syria’s new government is facing backlash after announcing changes to the school curriculum, including introducing what some critics say is an Islamist slant to teaching.”
“The changes, published in a list of amendments on the education ministry’s official Facebook page, include changing the phrases “path of goodness” to “Islamic path,” and “those who have are damned and have gone astray” to “Jews and Christians” – which pertains to an ultra-conservative interpretation of a verse in Islam’s holy book, the Quran.
The modifications also redefine the word “martyr,” from someone who died for the homeland to someone who sacrificed themselves “for the sake of God.”
Some chapters were removed entirely, the list shows, including a chapter on “the origins and evolution of life.”
“The current government is a caretaker government that does not have the right to make these amendments to the curricula,” one user commented on the ministry’s Facebook post. “The curricula must be amended in accordance with the new constitution.”

BB, I’m familiar with the bye-week syndrome – seen it screw up a good run more than a few times. Never seen it to this degree, however.  If Georgia loses (which I doubt, but ND is a tough team with great fundamentals), the CFP selection committee will come of looking like a bunch of amateurs.

James speaks: “same reason as always, stupid.”

I’ve been going over this in my head for the past two months, all the variables, all the what-ifs, all the questions about Joe Biden’s re-election decisions and what kind of Democrat or message might have worked against Donald Trump. I keep coming back to the same thing. We lost for one very simple reason: It was, it is and it always will be the economy, stupid. We have to begin 2025 with that truth as our political north star and not get distracted by anything else.

Looks like Georgia’s on the way to making the bye-week syndrome a perfect 4/4.

This time of the year (two years) is so wild now.  I did not know that CSPAN, forget that, CSPAN camera in the Capitol are really making some magats itchy.  After the performance with replacing the former repub speaker, McCarthy, covered by the cameras, some magats are once again afraid of the light of public viewing.  But, Speaker whatshisname, is using the experience to add to his reelection as Speaker of the House of Representatives.  Should be interesting day.  I might even think about possibly watching some, if I can get it on internet.

Craig, your and David’s 8th Night candles were beautiful. Such a unique menorah and I love the all-white lights. Thank you so much for sharing.

The College National Championship is Jan 20th, which would be a bit of a consolation if it weren’t on ESPN.  We aren’t going to a sports bar on a Monday night.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Nearly 5,000 doctors and other health care workers at 14 Providence Health facilities around Oregon are scheduled to strike at 6 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.

The union claims Providence allows hospitals and clinics to be understaffed, fails to follow the state’s safe staffing law, and does not pay competitive wages and benefits.”

Where’s Luigi? The media is complicit in covering the story how corporate America wants it covered…or not covered.
