  1. The right’s fascism problem – POLITICO

… Right-leaning corners of the internet are absolutely inundated with fascist or fascist-adjacent content, and that content is increasingly making its way — either intentionally or accidentally — into more mainstream conservative discourse.
Yet in some respects, the narrow focus on Trump’s actions obscures the broader problem for the GOP, especially as campaigns lean more heavily on digital content to spread their message: The conservative internet is so thoroughly saturated with fascist and neo-Nazi content that it’s increasingly difficult for campaigns operate in right-leaning spaces online without running into it.
The problem has gotten so bad that some conservatives are starting to quietly sound the alarm. In March, the conservative activist Chris Rufo took to X to note the proliferation of “Kanye-style antisemitism, right-wing identitarianism, online grifting [and] extreme conspiratorialism” on the online right, nothing that, “The economics of online discourse are increasingly at odds with forming and mobilizing a successful political movement.”
“It’s getting insane,” Rufo wrote. “We have a problem on the Right.”
As Rufo’s critics pointed out, Rufo himself has had a central role in turning online trolling and “shitposting” into a powerful tool that Republicans wield to achieve their real-world political aims. But as the latest incident with the Trump campaign shows, Rufo was not wrong to note that the proliferation of neo-fascist content online creates a potential liability for the Republican Party.
The question now is how serious of a liability it actually is. The Trump campaign’s past run-ins with the fascist right have done little to weaken his support within the GOP — and the blowback to them may have helped solidify his support by fueling the narrative that the media is trying to gin up new controversies to attack Trump. Will this latest incident be any different? If recent history is any guide, don’t count on it.

  2. Luckily I remember my father and three uncles serving in the army, navy and army air corps in WWII, fighting that era’s biggest fascist, and thankfully none died while doing so. Unfortunately the last surviving one, who died last month fell for me Fox disinformation campaign and became one of the blob’s biggest fans. He also laid in bed for the last 8 years going in and out of the world dementia created in his head, carrying on conversations with someone no one else in the room could see.  He was the only ttrumper in our family.

  3. Jack Smith Seeks Gag Order To Stop Assassination Claims

Yeah I think accusing DOJ of trying to kill him in Mar-a-Lago search worthy of a gag, considering his first attack on the “raid” prompted one of his nuts to open fire on an FBI field office.

“The Government moves to modify defendant Donald J. Trump’s conditions of release, to make clear that he may not make statements that pose a significant, imminent, and foreseeable danger to law enforcement agents participating in the investigation and prosecution of this case. The Government’s request is necessary because of several intentionally false and inflammatory statements recently made by Trump that distort the circumstances under which the Federal Bureau of Investigation planned and executed the search warrant at Mar-a-Lago. Those statements create a grossly misleading impression about the intentions and conduct of federal law enforcement agents – falsely suggesting that they were complicit in a plot to assassinate him—and expose those agents, some of whom will be witnesses at trial, to the risk of threats, violence, and harassment.”

  4. I did have to remind a second-cousin that her dad didn’t fight the Nazis so she could support Orange Adolf.
I have no idea what her initial response was, as I didn’t open that email.   Eventually, she sent another email mentioning nothing political and we are in communication, again.

Yes, gag him if he’s going to use everything to fake-martyr himself and then use it as a grift.
Also, maybe the MSM could also explain what’s possible in any raid since they’re covering this bit of ridiculousness. It’s not about Dumbfuck Donald.

  5. Dads and uncles on all sides of the family served mainly in WW II, but we did lose one at Chosin Reservoir in Korea.

All honor and remembrance to those who served.

  6. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

They think they’re the first and only time.

  7. It’s going to take every sane citizen fighting tooth and nail to our last breaths to keep this thieving man from stealing the Presidency ever again.

  8. Pat it isn’t love of fascism, There are few who claim to. It is our culture’s love of the strongman savior, the man who can solve all our problems.  We are surrounded by those images. Not of ordinary people solving their problems but of heroes, often with special almost mythic abilities, destroying our problems with violence.
Bidens problem is that he is an ordinary man running against a mythic creation.
This is a mixed holiday weekend, one where many of us visit the graves of dead loved ones and walk among the graves of ordinary people who did ordinary things. Placing flowers on the graves of ones we remember, looking at the graves of those we only know from stories passed on to us. A few of them did mythic deeds. But most just strived to make their world just a bit better than the one they inherited.
The other is the state sponsored remembrance of our warrior heroes.
Sometimes I think we give too much credit to the warrior hero and too little to the common person adding their bit to improve the world.

  9. Selling the “warrior hero” archetype is big business
”Black Rifle Coffee Company” is the easiest example

  10. Bink
I’m now living in a world where I’m surrounded by businesses either telling me they are a Christian, Patriot/veteran or all three.
I’m a cynic and assume they are all hiding  the fact that they give crappy service.
Is it relevant that you are a patriotic Christian, when all I need is my toilet stool unplugged or my Trash hauled off? Just 2 that come to mind.

  11. I was just setting in my back yard, drinking the last of my coffee, thinking about the landscaping/flower gardens. It is coming along. Some mornings I feel the spirit of Mrs Jack hanging out with me, approving my progress.
I have scattered most of her ashes across this country at some of her favorite places. There are some still in the box. I think maybe in a couple of weeks I’ll make a trip to western Kentucky, down by the green river.

  12. “Women have become too mouthy”.

lol. And certain men have become “too handsy.”

  13. Is it relevant that you are a patriotic Christian, when all I need is my toilet stool unplugged or my Trash hauled off?

lol yup- i used to ask them about their alleged “service”,  but i ain’t got time for that no more

  14. So I’m sitting on the front porch up here in the Catskills.  It’s about 20 feet off the highway. You kind of feel like you’re almost hanging over the highway. Afternoon sun on the porch, ice tea sitton’ in grasping distance, and watching the occasional vehicle go by.  Makes me wish I still smoked. So….im watching….along comes a LOUD motor bike, Japanese not harleyesque. He comes into view on the left, leaning into the curve  and he’s bent down low over the gas tank, haulin’ ass. Bright colored bike.  Haulin’ass, hunched over, and loud   I can still hear him WAY on down the road.
After a few more cars, again from the left comes another motor bike, this time soft, almost purring—its black and the driver is poking along wearing his backpack and sitting perfectly erect. He putts away to the right and when out of sight, he disappears.

Two different methods of knocking on heaven’s door on a bike.

  15. funny i just watched a guy on a bike go by who is not long for the world i can tell by his riding style

  16. a guy in front of me was on his phone and all over the road and almost caused multiple major accidents, and i pull up next to him at the light, and he is STILL on his phone so i said something politely to him about driving safely, as he pulled away, “fuck you!” was his response 🇺🇸
Being the change i want to see in the world is gonna get me shot 😬
