“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

  1. Star Wars’ Mark Hamill hails ‘Joe-B-Wan Kenobi’ after White House meeting | Mark Hamill | The Guardian

    […]
“How many of you had ‘Mark Hamill will lead the press briefing’ on your bingo card – hands?” the actor, wearing dark suit, blue tie and sunglasses, asked reporters at the start of a media briefing. “Yeah, me neither. I just got to meet the president and he gave me these aviator glasses.”
Hamill, 72, then put the glasses in his pocket, quipping: “I love the merch.”
Hamill, who has more than 5 million followers on X, where he is a trenchant critic of Biden’s election rival Donald Trump, said he was “honoured” to be invited to meet “the most legislatively successful president in my lifetime”, and reeled off a list of Biden’s accomplishments.
The actor told reporters that “it just shows you that just one person can be so influential and so positive in our lives” and said he would take questions, “although no Star Wars questions, please”.
Asked about the Oval Office meeting, Hamill said: “I only expected to be there for five minutes. He showed us all his photographs.
“It was really amazing to me because I was invited to the Carter White House and I came. And then I came to the Obama White House but I never was invited into the Oval Office, and it was a large gathering. So this one was really extra special.”
In the original blockbuster Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), Hamill played farm boy Luke learning Jedi mind tricks from Obi-Wan Kenobi, an elderly Jedi master who has seen better days. On Friday, it seems, he again took the role of young apprentice to the 81-year-old Biden.
“I called him ‘Mr President’. He said, ‘You can call me Joe.’ I said, ‘Can I call you Joe-B-Wan Kenobi?’ He liked that.”

    Dexter at 3:24 this morning

Thanks for the play-by-play commentary, Craig. I followed all day on MSNBC, and last night Lawrence O’Donnell just trashed Hicks for lying about Trump’s actions a couple times.  Her crying jags are a mystery, too…phony or just real from nervousness and maybe shame.  O’Donnell ripped her for just being a person born to wealth who declined to join forces to do good in the world and instead, standing with Trump in cases like separating kids and parents at the border.  L.O.D. has a harsh opinion of her.

Bill reacts to the top stories of the week, including nationwide college protests and Governor Kristi Noem’s dog-shooting scandal.

interesting observation from one of the commentators about above monologue: “The fact that he’s a vocal liberal but gets treated like conservative for telling the truth lets you know everything about how polarized our country is”

“Jafaridze is among thousands of Georgians who have for the past month gathered each night outside the country’s parliament, facing down tear gas and water cannons fired by increasingly brutal police, to protest a bill they fear will torpedo its bid to join the European Union and push it further into the Kremlin’s orbit.”
“This has become my routine,” he told CNN. “If we don’t protect our freedom right now – our European and Western future – tomorrow we’re going to wake up in Russia. And that will be it.”
”The ruling Georgian Dream party is trying to force through a “foreign agent” law, likened by critics to a measure introduced by Russian President Vladimir Putin to quash dissent. The draft law, which has passed the second of three votes, would require organizations in the former Soviet country that receive more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register as “foreign agents” or face crippling fines.”
“Jafaridze, who also owns a travel business and says he receives 95% of his income from foreign sources, says he would “immediately” be listed as a foreign agent under the broadly-written law. But critics say the intended target of the legislation is not business owners like him, but Georgia’s independent media and civil society organizations, ahead of elections in October in which Georgian Dream, whose popularity is waning, is desperate to keep power.”

Thanks, Craig. Everything about him is all for the show, nothing but the show. None of it is for real.

  9. Jeffco GOP cancels Kristi Noem event amid dog-killing controversy Noem was scheduled to headline a fundraiser for the Jefferson County Republicans on Saturday. Early Friday morning, the group posted on social media that the event at the Denver West Marriott was canceled.

  12. The far right county commissioners here have decided to give themselves a 60% pay raise. Of the 4 person committee who will be voting on this, 3 of them have close ties to the far right county commissioners. The job of county commissioners is NOT considered to be a full-time job, but one of the commissioners (who insists that she didn’t take the job for the money) compared their jobs to that of a 31-year veteran nurse. They provide a service to the county. The lead county commissioner will see his yearly salary increase from over $27,000 to over $44,000 a year. The others will have their pay raised to $33,000 and $34,000 a year.

  14. I thought about  going with Forever Young, but when I got up this morning I don’t think I had a joint that wasn’t complaining. I think I’m way past the forever young stage of life. Now if they had a horse named Survive, I might go with that one.
I  picked Mystik Dan because I had that name  on a crew I worked with for many years. The boss couldn’t remember my real name and always called  me Dan. I corrected him a few times the said “what the hell’ and let it go. So the whole crew called me Dan. The only exception was an older Mexican who always called me  by what he thought was my proper name. For him I was Daniels. It was a bit of respect that was touching.

That is one tough horse, pushed his way through the inside.
When I saw him against the rail behind other horses, I didn’t think there was a chance, then he popped through and was in the lead. Smart jocky, tough horse.

  20. In ‘88 I got a job in a cabinet shop in panhandle Florida and so then someone was taking me around and introducing me to all the other employees. There was only one black guy and he was introduced to me as Bro.  So later I asked him his real name which was Warren, and I called him Warren.  Later I got a look at his time card and noticed that his name was Warren Breaux.  From Louisiana.

  21. …thought i had a winner there, and then they had the 2nd half of the race 😒
