“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.

In the new interview, Trump said he’d be fine with states tracking pregnant women to ensure they don’t get abortions, and that he would use local police and even the military in his immigration crackdown.
Trump also vowed to make better hiring decisions if he returns to the White House, saying he knows “everybody” now.
“I know the good, the bad, the stupid, the smart,” Trump told the magazine.
“You can just say ‘good’ and ‘smart.’ We already know you’re pretty tight with the ‘bad’ and the ‘stupid,’” Colbert said. “They’re your sons.”

Police moved into the pro-Palestinian encampment at UCLA Thursday morning, where they faces intense resistance and made dozens of arrests.
Hundreds of officers converged on the camp. They worked to remove barriers, wood panels and other objects that served as barriers into the camp.
Around 3:20 am, police launched flares over the encampment that set off loud blasts. Officers watched the scene from the high windows of Royce Hall, infuriating protesters who shone lights in their eyes and challenged them to come down.
There were several fronts of the operation, with police using flash-bang type devices that echoed across campus.
Earlier, about 15 LAPD officers entered through a makeshift barricade near the school’s Tonga steps around 1:30 a.m. before protesters pushed them back, according to a UCLA student who witnessed the incident. The student, who declined to be named, said the demonstrators who remained early Thursday morning in the encampment were prepared to be arrested.

LA has a great history of handling protests, right? This shit will swing the election to Dumbass. Mark my words.
Joe, get on the media and condemn this and offer the administration of UCLA help managing the situation.
“This shit will swing the election to Dumbass.”
pogo, think some of those “protestors” are wolves in student clothes maybe? itching for dramatic scenes to entice cameras and distract the populace, insinuating dems are weak, chaos reigns unless drumpf rules… that’s pure GOPer points as well as furthering steve bannon’s calls like “darkness is good” and “fear is going to lead you to take action” and “I’m a Leninist. Lenin wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.”

“The Texas Department of Public Safety is pursuing two misdemeanor charges against a broadcast news cameraman arrested last week while he was covering a tumultuous pro-Palestinian demonstration at the University of Texas at Austin.”
“DPS has accused Carlos Sanchez of hitting an officer with his camera…”
“Mr. Sanchez was performing an important news gathering function during a chaotic event when he inadvertently bumped into a police officer. He did not commit a crime,” Morris said.
“In leveling an unwarranted charge of assault against a journalist who was simply doing his job, Texas authorities themselves commit an assault – on the public’s First Amendment right to be informed by a free and unfettered press,” the groups, including the Society of Professional Journalists, said. “And in charging a member of the press with interfering with a police officer’s duties, they send the message that police are free to interfere with journalists as they exercise their constitutionally protected right to inform the public.”
“It’s crystal clear from every angle of videos capturing the incident that Sanchez did not intentionally hit anyone while covering protests at the University of Texas at Austin last week,”…
“From multiple angles of the melee captured in several videos, including one filmed by the journalist, it’s clear his camera collides with an officer during the scuffle.”
“Video then shows a trooper pulling the photojournalist’s backpack and, along with another officer, throwing him to the ground. As the cameraman was being led away by a state trooper, he said to KXAN that he told law enforcement he was with the press. He also said he was being pushed, but didn’t say who was pushing him.”
“They were pushing me and … they say I hit an officer,” he says in a video posted on X. “I didn’t hit an officer. They were pushing. They were pushing.”
“Let’s call this what it is — blatant retaliation and intimidation,” Blaize-Hopkins said in a Tuesday statement on social media. “DPS is trying to make an example out [of] this photographer to scare other journalists from covering these highly publicized protests on campuses across TX.”
Take out the reason for the protests and look at the behavior of law enforcement. This is the world now.
And, yeah, the protests have been instigated from outside college campuses. You have a lot of somewhat-privileged students who see the dumpster fire of a world, and a clear wrong (not killing and starving non-combatants in Gaza), so of course it will be easy to move them to act.
Gag order hearing right now. Trump attorney Todd Blanche says because Biden joked about “Stormy weather” [at Saturday’s WH correspondents dinner] about the trial that permitted Trump to attack witnesses like Cohen and praise Pecker. Huh? Judge Merchan notes Trump was free to attack Biden: “He’s not allowed to refer to foreseeable witness. There’s nothing in the gag order that says he can’t” respond to President Biden.
You can take the turd out of Queens, but you can’t take the turd out of the turd.
Keeping count. Amazing how Biden masterminded this Deep State conspiracy in all these jurisdictions. Guess he’s not senile after all.

In interview, Trump doesn’t commit to accepting Wisconsin election results if he loses
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: Trump on Wednesday didn’t commit to accepting the results of Wisconsin’s presidential election in November if he does not win and again promoted the falsehood that he won the Badger State in 2020.
In an interview with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the former president said he would accept the results of the November election showing he lost “if everything’s honest.”
“If everything’s honest, I’d gladly accept the results,” Trump said in an interview Wednesday. “If it’s not, you have to fight for the right of the country.
“But if everything’s honest, which we anticipate it will be — a lot of changes have been made over the last few years — but if everything’s honest, I will absolutely accept the results,” he said.
The “radical left lunatics” protesting on college and university campuses across the country have to be stopped, former president Donald Trump said Thursday.
Trump spoke at the Manhattan criminal court where he is attending the 10th day of his hush money trial. He complimented the conduct of police in New York in managing the Columbia University protests, as well as the officers in Los Angeles who broke up the UCLA encampment.
“These are radical left lunatics, Trump said. “They gotta be stopped now because it’s going to go on and on and it’s going to get worse and worse, and, you know, they take over countries, okay? And we’re not letting them take over the U.S.A. We’re not letting the radical left morons take over this country.”
Idiot.
POTUS Joe gave a very reasonable response to campus protests. It should’ve happened last week, but the contrast to Orange Adolf’s jack-booted language will also help Biden/Harris.
Adolf doesn’t understand that nobody actually likes him. Even MAGAts are just racists who want others to live a certain way, and Adolf is just their spokesmodel for hate. He is what The Heritage Foundation has been trolling for in murky water. An idiot, but a useful idiot.
As long as Orange Adolf can’t keep his hatred to himself, more and more will see how dangerous he is.
ps – Are they going to tweak his meds so he can remain calm in court but not fall asleep?
He can set up all he wants to, he ain’t got a chance in hell of pulling off a damn thing.
They’re on to him this time.
Biden Condemns Campus Violence After More Than 130 Arrests at U.C.L.A.
President Biden said Americans have “the right to protest, but not a right to cause chaos,” and he rejected the notion of sending the National Guard to campuses. At U.C.L.A., officers in riot gear dismantled a pro-Palestinian protest camp.
…
Biden says the protests have not forced him to reconsider his policies in the Middle East. Asked if he feels that he should send in the National Guard to end the campus protests, as some Republicans have suggested, Biden gives a stern, “No.”
The White House is walking a careful political tightrope as President Biden speaks for the first time on the campus protests. The president is contending with a frustrated bloc of young voters who are concerned with many issues, including the number of civilians killed in Gaza. At the same time, Republicans are pointing to the chaos on campuses to accuse Biden of being weak on law and order.
“In moments like this, there are always those who rush in to score political points,” Biden said. “But this isn’t a moment for politics, it’s a moment for clarity.”
Smart not to send NG troops in when local LE can do the job.
* The comments from the Times article are in no particular order.
President Biden forcefully urged campus protesters to refrain from violence and intimidation Thursday morning, saying Americans have a right to peaceful protest but strongly condemning some of the tactics used.
“We’ve all seen the images, and they put to the test two fundamental American principles,” Biden said in quickly scheduled remarks at the White House. “The first is the right to free speech and for people to peacefully assemble and make their voices heard. The second is the rule of law. Both must be upheld.”
He added: “Violent protest is not protected. Peaceful protest is. … Destroying property is not a peaceful protest. It’s against the law. Vandalism, breaking windows, shutting down campuses, forcing the cancellation of classes and graduations. None of this is a peaceful protest.”
Biden also strongly condemned antisemitism and Islamophobia, as well as anti-Arab and anti-Palestinian rhetoric.
“In America, we respect the right and protect the right for them to express that. But it doesn’t mean anything goes,” Biden said. “It needs to be done without violence, without destruction, without hate, and within the law.”
Definitely more measured that Dumbass’ comments, but then again, isn’t that always the case?

Sad to hear of this second recent loss of a Boeing whistleblower. Whistleblowers are a courageous lot. Heroes, but not your everyday kind; they don’t get enough recognition.
Joshua Dean, a former quality auditor at Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems and one of the first whistleblowers to allege Spirit leadership had ignored manufacturing defects on the 737 MAX, died Tuesday morning after a struggle with a sudden, fast-spreading infection.
“According to Donald Trump, he wasn’t napping in the Manhattan courtroom where he’s being tried for his alleged role in a hush money scheme to cover up an affair he had with a porn star. No, the former president said on Thursday, he was merely resting his gorgeous peepers for a moment or two.”
“Contrary to the FAKE NEWS MEDIA, I don’t fall asleep during the Crooked D.A.’s Witch Hunt, especially not today,” the 77-year-old posted on Truth Social during a break in proceedings. “I simply close my beautiful blue eyes, sometimes, listen intensely, and take it ALL in!!!”
