Sunday Serendipity

This performance by Yo-Yo Ma can best be described as the end of a musical marathon. He has already played his way through the Bach’s first 5 cello suites and has been playing for over 2 hours when this video starts. It is an incredible performance of a beautiful piece of music.

Enjoy, Jack

Attribution: Dictator For A Day by Bob Englehart, PoliticalCartoons.com

the loser’s plan on day one is to invoke the insurrection clause, call out the military and declare he’s extending that dictator-for-a-day deal to dictator for life

GOP commentator Scott Jennings: “Downplaying Jan. 6 is political poison for my party. Understand, independents in this country who might otherwise be unhappy with Joe Biden really do not like anything about what happened on January 6th. And they do not like these explanations in the aftermath to try to rationalize it. It’s why you see Joe Biden talking about it, he knows independents don’t like what happened on that day” (CNN)

From Trump rally yesterday, What is he talking about here? On The Civil War: “I’m so attracted to seeing it. There was something that could’ve been negotiated… Abraham Lincoln, if he negotiated it, we wouldn’t know who Lincoln was. He wouldn’t have been the Abraham Lincoln. But that would’ve been ok.”

‘Trump, Confused’: Biden Camp Fires Back at Trump Over Energy Remarks (businessinsider.com)

Former President Donald Trump during a Friday campaign speech in Iowa railed against wind energy and instead advocated for oil production and the fossil fuel industry, a common talking point at many of his rallies.
But it was a series of statements that Trump made during a series of remarks in Sioux Center that prompted President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign to slam the former president as “confused.”

I don’t remember how long or what Yo Yo Ma played when we saw him perform, but I know it was him-and-only-him and that time stood still.

WTAF was Dictator Delulu talking about?   Any Republican and/or Christo-fascist propping up this dangerous lunatic should be ashamed of themselves.

There simply aren’t enough words for the mastery of Yo-Yo Ma. And the joy he exhibits while he plays is simply wonderful.

Hope Everyone fared well with the storm – we got rain.

i speak dipshit so i’ll translate for you, and i swear this is what he means:

…he is suggesting that after his inevitable defeat in the general election, the states that vote for him should secede and make him president of a new confederacy

One of his evil minions is feeding him lines and he’s flubbing them.

i was never here 🫥

“I just must tell you, having been there that day, to see people literally breaking windows, ransacking the Capitol, it just infuriated me. I remember thinking ‘not this, not here, not at the United States Capitol,’” he said.

Pence added he is “very grateful” for the efforts of the FBI’s efforts to arrest to arrest those who “ransacked our Capitol and did violence against police officers that day,” demanding those who participated in the attack be held to “the fullest extent of the law.”

The Whitest Man doing as little as possible in order not to infuriate Orange Fuhrer.   “Ransacking” democracy.   MAGAts going through our collective underwear drawer to overthrow the government.   Call it what it was, Mike.  Violent insurrection.   They wanted to unalive you.  Some of them probably still do.

“Many corporate leaders pledged to hire more people of colorremoved branding perceived to be racist and invested in historically Black colleges.”

“At the time, the efforts were largely met with public support, amid a so-called “racial reckoning” that laid bare a slew of systemic inequities in American society, including the workplace.”
“Among the most vocal of these critics pushing back against DEI is billionaire investor Bill Ackman, who in the wake of Gay’s departure posted a 4,000-word opus on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that blasted DEI as “inherently a racist and illegal movement in its implementation even if it purports to work on behalf of the so-called oppressed.”
“Ackman’s lengthy thesis was later retweeted by billionaire Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who now owns the social media platform.”
“DEI is just another word for racism. Shame on anyone who uses it,” Musk wrote in his post sharing Ackman’s screed on Wednesday. In a follow-up post, the world’s wealthiest person doubled down, adding, “DEI, because it discriminates on the basis of race, gender and many other factors, is not merely immoral, it is also illegal.”

We are living in the upside-down.
I wonder what would’ve changed had Orwell’s 1984 not been published, and New Speak had never tickled the evil brain cells of so-called conservatives?

In KC’s defense, they were already locked into the #3 seed. The outcome of tonight’s Bills vs. Dolphins game is the only thing that matters to KC. A Dolphins win means that KC will host Pittsburgh next weekend. A friend of mine went to KC on a business trip this week. I recommended KC Joe’s for BBQ. He went there and said it was some of the best BBQ he’s ever had. As for Trump saying, “You have to let it go.”…who better than Trump to tell people to “Let things go.”? He’s an expert at letting things go since November of 2020!

I just keep thinking of that scene in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” with Falwell Sr., at some point he lands on abortion as an issue to be exploited. ( ps- The Bible says no such thing about abortion or homosexuality, but now we have a plague of white nationalists.)

“Long before his May 2007 death, the Rev. Jerry Falwell Sr.—the Baptist preacher who founded Liberty University and whose creation of the Moral Majority marked the emergence of white evangelical conservatives as a national political force—made clear how he wanted the empire he’d built to be divided when the time came.”

https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/07/politics/elise-stefanik-january-6-prisoners-liz-cheney/index.html

“GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik on Sunday echoed Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump as she referred to those sentenced to prison for their roles in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol as “hostages.”

“I have concerns about the treatment of January 6 hostages. I have concerns, we have a role in Congress of oversight over our treatment of prisoners, and I believe we’re seeing the weaponization of the federal government against not just President Trump, but we’re seeing it against conservatives,” the New York Republican said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

WTAF?!? Shouldn’t be surprised, though. Look at her cold, dead eyes. No soul.
