Putin On The Run?

Daily Mail: “Putin’s former supporters say he faces growing threat from Wagner army”

“Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin is acting with unidentified figures within Putin’s circle in a bid to oust the dictator, war analyst Igor Strelkov, ex-defence minister of Donetsk People’s Republic, claimed.”

“No later than late summer the internal political situation in the country might change beyond recognition,” Strelkov said.

Moscow hit by drone attack, Russia blames Ukraine (nbcnews.com)

Moscow was hit by drones Tuesday morning, in what appeared to be the first attack on residential areas of the Russian capital since the invasion of Ukraine and a dramatic display of the Kremlin’s war increasingly coming home.
The incident caused damage to some buildings in Moscow and forced residents to evacuate homes, local officials said.
It comes weeks after an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin itself and following days of deadly Russian bombardment against civilians in Kyiv, as events far from the front lines take the spotlight ahead of Ukraine’s planned counteroffensive.
The Russian defense ministry said in a statement Tuesday that eight “aircraft-type” unmanned aerial vehicles were involved in the alleged attack on Moscow. All drones were destroyed, it added.
Three were jammed and lost control, the ministry said, and the other five were shot down by the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile system in the Moscow region.
The ministry blamed Ukraine for what it called a “terrorist attack.”
Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that his country “has nothing directly to do” with the drone attacks on Moscow. Ukraine is, however, “pleased to observe and predict an increase in the number of attacks,” he said in a YouTube interview Tuesday.

Putin’s ‘special military operation’ is coming home to Russia
“A taste of their own medicine” is how many in Ukraine and the West will view the surprise drone attack on Moscow.
The fact that no one was killed, that there has been very little damage and Ukraine has not claimed responsibility is less important than the fact that it happened at all.
President Putin’s “special military operation” in a neighbouring country is coming home to Russia.
There is, of course, almost no comparison between this, together with an earlier, ineffective drone strike on the Kremlin on the one hand, and the colossal drone and missile strikes Russia is now launching daily on Ukraine’s civilian population on the other.
Yet any attack on Russia’s capital makes Nato nervous about the risks of escalation.
All the powerful, long-range weaponry it is supplying to Ukraine comes with the proviso that it is not to be aimed at Russia itself.
So far, all of Moscow’s “red lines” – warning of dire consequences for the West if it supplied Ukraine with this or that piece of equipment – have turned out to be just talk.
But if a drone or missile attack on Moscow did end up causing serious casualties this could propel the Ukraine war into dangerous new territory.

  3. Must say, as happy as I am to see Moscow attacked by drones it adds to my worry that this is the future of warfare, by remote control. Makes it easier to go to war? Just a matter of time before we see regular bombers, fighter jets and attack helicopters without pilots.

  4. Pretty much already at the remote war stage already.  The drones are aircraft without a pilot, they are big and armed.  I am not sure about dogfights, but the rest is already in use.

So far there is no confirmations that Ukraine sent the drones into Moscow, there is the distinct possibility it was done by puttie.  An action similar to what he has done in the past.

It is looking like twit is blocking accounts that supply information about what is happening in Ukraine.  Several accounts have been shut down.

  5. “there is the distinct possibility it was done by puttie.  An action similar to what he has done in the past”

BB, my very 1st thought.  could be useful to him in lots of ways:  rev up anti-ukraine sentiment, excuse to draft more folk/fodder for army and a “what aboutism” on war crimes charges (he made a point to note drones damaged civilian apt building).

  6. putin on the run?  with daily blasts in kiev it’s more like

Putin on a Blitz is a parody on the Ukraine war by South African comedian and actor BEN VOSS ridiculing Vladimir Putin’s behavior on the edges of Europe. It is done to the track of Putting on the Ritz by TACO.

  7. Time travel – sure it can be fun, and rather easy, but only going backwards.  Of all the wonders of invention, the ability to keep images of the current time to present at a later date is probably the most important.  More than anything else being able to keep visual records has changed how we see history.  And, how we can stop lies.  And, how lies can be propagated.

One thing that I have unconsciously been doing to is to look at movies from where we were without electronics to where we are today.  It is fun to look at old (very old) television shows and remember life back in the Fifties, Sixties, all the way to today.  Having grown up with television I appreciate the ability of film, or digital, to record the moment.
